Saw them for the first time at Godfreys Famous Ballroom in B'more in 88 maybe 89. There were 62 people there, I know cuz I worked the door that night, and they still fuckin' rocked out like it was a stadium. It was Dope AF. Flea stuffed animal pants era. That was kick ass summer of the baddest small shows. NIN OPENED for Meat Beat Manifesto at like a 200 person show. B'more was a different world entirely then. Before the label Goths and "Raves" were just warehouse parties, Mohawks, eyeliner, Jean Paul Gaultier, Levis, Creepers, Docs, Cloves, Patchouli, Alien Sex Fiend, and Tones on Tail all existed without drama under the same roofs every weekend. It was a wonderful time to be young and refuse to fade into the status quo. The Chili Pep's were just that, and we were just us, all completely different, and still cool to each other all in the dark streets, alleys, and underground of Baltimore, we owned the nights. Thanks for making the comment perfectly, as it brought back perfect memories! I appreciate ya!! ✌️

And as the young men finished politely telling the gentleman their and walking down the street, they started an impromtu song with drim sounds and whistles that slowly faded as they strolled away and you could hear the lyrics of a freestyle, "... Hip Hop to the funkity punk rock and ya don't stop, we aint got no problems with the punk funk rock Sir. .. and whistling down the block they went into the night like a flock no seagulls in sight ....." until you couldn't the young men as they carried on with whatever cool kids do in the night.

Plus green day don't even deserve to be on this list, warning is just a straight rip of a song by the kinks called picture book.

Radiohead has proven themselves to be a better and more impactful band than almost any other act in history and have done it for thirty years while still maintaining a level of integrity rarely seen in music industry. I've said it before and I'll say it again; Radiohead, at this point, has no peers.

From a UK point of view It's a shame that Manic Street Preachers never found fame in the US in the 90s. The first two albums (Generation Terrorists/Gold Against The Soul) failed over there but there were high hopes for their third album The Holy Bible, released in 1994 in the UK, finally making a breakthrough. Unfortunately, on the eve of the US promotional tour, band member and songwriter Richey Edward's went missing following struggles with his mental health. Issues that inspired many of the songs on THB.
So I would implore all alt rock lovers in the US to buy or download The Holy Bible by Manic Street Preachers. You will not be disappointed, but you will be wondering why the actual fuck Oasis made this list when so much better music was been made in the UK in the 90s.

***** Stay ignorant? lol. It's called an opinion. I've listened to every project from each band's discographies. Like I said... Get mad.

angrypig244 In my opinion, Smashing Pumpkins > Radiohead > RHCP. In the 90s, at least. Radiohead has been more consistent than the Pumpkins, so overall, they may get the edge, but in the 90s? ... I'll take Siamese Dream over OK Computer any day of the week. OK Computer is a fantastic album, but damn, it's overrated. Way too many people think it's the greatest album of all time. And it has a crazy cult following that'll get mad at you if you think differently.

BlackStarKeepShining Radiohead followed up Ok Computer (which may or may not be the greatest record of al time) with Kid A. Like they created The Bends -> Ok Computer -> Kid A -> Amnesiac -> HTTT -> In Rainbows. With the possible exception of HTTT (Which is a tad too long but otherwise amazing) a list of albums that amazing hasn;t been done since The Beatles.
