If you want suspension like what I've got on the S2K, Evo, and all of the rest of my cars, Fortune Auto is offering 5% on a bunch of their models with the code GEARS, along with free shipping with the code FREESHIP. They want to do something for our fans, and we're huge fans of them, so if you want to save like $200 on a set of 510s, hit them up!
for the idle control/compensation for the A/C , you can get the old school diaphragms (the ones that are used with carburetors) that works with engine vacuum, to pull a little bit the throttle lever (they are adjustable)
@@falkor3865 they don't need a lot of vacuum, and during idle is where most of the vacuum occurs I mean is worth trying for an easy fix. They use a little bypass solenoid to activate the diaphragm only when the ac is on, so you can control it with the haltech
7:14 depending on how many vacuum ports you have on your ITB's you can run a line from each throttle body into a collector and then an old-school bleeder style Idle air control valve which almost all stand-alone ECU's support. It basically creates a controlled vacuum leak to speed up or slow engine idle (also good for de-acceleration and popping conditions)
I actually did this with a street driven ITB motor. It worked great. BTW you can also get your MAP signal and brake booster vacuum from the vacuum collector.
@@michaelblacktree Thats a good point too, you can use a separate vacuum collector for your MAP which helps calm down some of the vacuum reference flutter you see on ITB's + aggressive cams. Helps to get a steady reading as each Throttle body pulses its intake cycle. (helps for daily driven ITB's)
I guess I don't really understand why you would purchase, and put that kind of money into, such a blatantly abused and beat up S2K unless it was incredibly cheap....like incredibly.
Does K20 have a balance shaft? If you delete the balance shaft is it possible to balance the engine up to 10k? Or does it have a shaft and you keep it? I have a Mazda B2600i and I'm considering deleting the balance shaft. It's a 2.6L I4. I'm installing an Eaton M62 supercharger on it. Should be fun. Toyota Rear axle with Toyota Supra LSD.
EFI hardware sells a device that will let you convert the ITBs to dbw activation. It's really nice. A few people use it on the BEAMS 3SGE engine (formula 3). Driftworks used it on their Lamborghini.
amazing. love to see all the work going into such a project. not the normalized b roll builds. love the twice a week schedule too, i used to watch older longer videos in 2 sessions!
Should build an air box for the ITB's especially sense it will be street driven. It wont be as cool when you open your hood, but it will allow you to get cold air from out of the engine bay. But i'm sure you know this already.
Instead of killing the battery cranking it over and over again trying to get sync, pull the plugs out so there's no compression. No reason to have them in when you're not trying to start it and just troubleshooting trigger issues. Anywho, looking forward to the next episode.
I love watching your videos with Ronnie building engines. The older I get the more I appreciate my stock low RPM torque, K24 grocery getter. Just the thing for surprising the German sports cars at the stop lights. Watching Ronnie doing one-stop shop builds brings a smile to face every time. Great video!
If you guys put a vacuum port on each intake runner, and run a vacuum hose into a common vacuum manifold, you can put an IAC valve on that vacuum manifold to do fine idle control and AC idle boost. Its also a good place to put a MAP sensor. I have typically seen IAT sensor strapped in front of one of the trumpets, probably about the best you can do.
I have an f20c in my Corolla, It revs to 10,600, and makes 192kw atw (257hp). Currently has 110,000km's on the engine and still going strong. I run ITB's. 145mm trumpets in an inclosed box, with a 4.5" feed to an airbox and a 5" feed to the front bar. It runs 13.2:1 comp, forged internals, 1mm oversized valves and custom exhaust manifold into a 3.5" exhaust, dropping down to a 3" rear and 3" straight through muffler. Very quick little car, weighing in at 1050kg. Timing well is all you need for idle, i can jump off the clutch at the lights with no throttle and the car will idle up and drive.
Something seems off. VTC is reporting that you are getting cam advance I am sure.. I wonder if there is something faulty with the VTC sensor. It falls off after 8K, I wonder if it is holding your pre-vtec advance command and sticking rather than dialing back as RPM builds. 3.2s, added compression, and itbs should carry/peak well into the 9s. If it is still falling off after 8, once get the 4-1 header on it and on a 3 inch + exhaust, check to make sure that your VTC values through the sweep are hitting targets. If so, test the voltage on that sensor just to make sure it is operating properly through the rpm sweep.
If I may make a suggestion, ITBs can still be housed in an airbox/intake manifold with a big air intake tube. It's not gonna restrict the air flow, it may even streamline it. That's how the E46 M3 CSL gets its air intake. Trust me, I'm a mechanical engineering specializing in fluid and thermal sciences.
I find it hilarious that you're using larger ITBs on a 2.0 liter engine as I'm going to use (twice as many of) on an 8 liter V8. Admittedly, the math works out because I'm only going to be turning half your RPMs as well. :D
Umm, hopefully there isn't any chassis damage from the car being jumped? 🤣 I would've thought refreshing the body with all the parts off would be the first step. It looks rough AF!
Why didn’t you have the intake set up for their IAC system? Also, it’s semantics, but it’s an individual runner system and not ITB’s. But Kinsler definitely does offer IAC for their electronic injection IR manifolds.
after all of that fing around. if you dropped in a F20C with a cam some lighter vavle springs retainers, you would have made more power and got to 10,000 rpm. and spent less money.....
"And we're at Starbucks" hahaha - na but real please do trumpet runner length testing ?? Maybe no room. But would love to see trumpet testing, and then implement 787B variable length trumpets in conjunction with vtec =)
I’m 100% all here for replacing the bushings. It’s a street car. Make it comfortable and exactly how you want it to feel you already spend enough time in track cars make a car you’ll enjoy
Hey I have a question for you guys at gears and gasoline, if your willing please let me know. I’d like to chat with guys about a great opportunity, possibly. Also love your guys work!
Jackie really trashed that car lol. if I remember correctly didn't he take it on the same "reality" show that GMG destroyed T-Pain's car on? then obviously the jump and the years of track abuse the car went through. that thing is bent lol.
Love the build lads, the s2000 is iconic the only thing that gets me is you had the engine out of the car, why didn't you get the engine bay sprayed. All those excellent new shiny parts and a tired rusty-looking engine bay.
could drill out the runner behind the throttle blades and install a IAC valve in each runner. then program the ECU to operate the duty cycle to maintain the desire rpm, option b drill and plumb a 1/2 line between all the ITBS and connect a single IAC valve to the end of the line
Ok, Jackie is hilarious. but serious question, is he well known around the us as a big grid life racing talent? or is he just like all of my close asian car buddies, hilarious, loving, and full of knowledge?
if you want to wicken & potentially destroy your expensive suspension never use a spanner & hammer to rotate the rings....use the proper tool..!!..but these are fantastic..

I know they're probably sponsored for this build by fortune auto but I wish he'd left the rally suspension on. I'm glad Jackie got them back though
I hope they bring back more Jackie Ding content to the channel.
G&G camera work and editing are awesome, just makes the videos easy and enjoyable to watch.
this build could have been a lot simpler if it ran on 93 octane fuel and gave up on the itb’s right?
But doesnt the butter flies have holes or idles or are those for somethinf else??
that ending looool
I'm always bummed when the episode is over. Appreciate the longer ones.
Especially when the dyno is next
I love the shot of the fuel line coming up into the engine bay at 10:42.

Yeah it smooths out the pressure pulses. But it's still responsive enough to give good readings.
I know a lotta guys do this with dcoe carbs too. Granted those setups don't really need vacuum advance, but I've heard it helps
