Directly from the project leader of the S2000, Shigeru Uehara, when asked why there wasn't a Type R version, he said the S2000 was essentially already a Type R because there was very little room left for improvement as it was already engineer at a very high level from the start. Unlike the other "base" Hondas.
@@deltapromasterlauj4848 actually, at the time (1995), no there wasn't. The idea behind the s2000 was a roadster that performed like a race car that "everyone" can afford. This really gives me the same vibe as full/complete tune cars. As opposed to demo cars, which would be used to test prototype parts and for display.
When tuning shops would just strip a car down and build it up using their own prowess. Stuff like the NISMO 400R and the HKS Zero R and the legendary RUF CTR Yellowbird.
Of course, some shops still continue with that kind of stuff today (like the aforementioned RUF). I'm not saying shops don't still do it, I'm just saying it's uncommon.
Such a excellent expose Larry. Capturing Evasive think outside the box take on S2000 R. There will be a demand. Hey Top Rank knows this👌
I gotta quit watch S2000 videos. I made the worst error of my adult life selling mine 8 years ago. Definitely the best automobile I’ve ever owned.
Go buy another one then!
@@philspaghet have you seen prices? In Canada at least they fetch $45-60k for a clean one
@@rubbertoe. I see them in Michigan for $15k for daily driver examples
@@philspaghet umm, wish I could, but they’ve tripled in price since I sold mine! Also, have a project in the garage, so it’ll have to wait.
How dare you
I'm blown away that people could do stuff like this! Amazing! I wouldn't even know where to start!
The body is perfect 👌
I love this car stock.. this is next level
Stunning car!
Dope. Thank u for capturing this and sharing it with the world, Larry. We appreciate u
Such a great concept. Most of us can’t dream of something like a Singer or Guntherworks so a restoration of a cheaper and more modern car is more attainable and still exciting!
Ever heard of opera performance?
This is nowhere near either of those two shops. At all, they threw some basic parts from the catalog on and it’s not a ground up restoration cause it’s only a 15 year old car 🤣🤣🤣
Those spoon mirrors… 🤤. I really hope evasive sells the wing stands. Looks like it uses the same mounting points as the CR wing, which is perfect for me.
Beautiful. Only thing I’d change is keep the factory steering wheel with a nice alcantara wrap
As a long life s2000 owner and enthusiast this is something we imagined making ourselves one day(conceptually) - the problem that the r&d and price and time involved suddenly went up so high you basically need to snap yourself out of that haha. So glad you guys did it - I mean I imagine it will be close or even over 180k $ so it’s ain’t gonna be cheap - but I’m deffo considering a preorder haha just kiddin ;D gj boys - and nice video - thanks
What a machine! Brilliant work.
Science of speed offers the plug and play fk8 swap for s2000 now, would be interesting to get a Honda crate engine with all factory Hondata flashpro engine management and reliability. For now, great coverage Larry, I’ve been to evasive a few times and they always are very helpful! The first parts I ever bought for my s2k was from evasive actually. I’m waiting for the c8 z06 swap s2000 someday! Would love to hear that flat plane melody out of my s2000!
I was wondering why evasive s2000r got so much media coverage SOS had one in their open house here in AZ early this year. Or is this that same one?
@@elas2k159 I know it's using the SOS kit but I'm not sure if it's the same car or not.
Thing is so sick can’t wait for a sport mode. I would do jdm black house head lights ,dash screen differently and finish the alcantera material on the plastics behind the seats/center console.more 20th anniversary bits would be cool thr radio lid and rear wind deflection Ria Strake
One of the best s2k i have seen
Just drove my stock ap1 s2k last night and it still feels brand new. Got 115k miles on her
Amazing guy from Evasive, such a calmness and knowledge in his words. The little details 🥹… If you know you know. Like the Nsx steering wheel cap.
*_This is so sick. Inspires me to make my 97 EK Hatch into a Type R._*
S2000R is now on my dream list of cars 😅😍
such a good take on the R series for the S2000, this looks way better than the CR model!
It really makes me wonder why Honda didn’t do the R from the beginning with this legend, all the other cars that were worth it got the R treatment, the CR just doesn’t do it, I’d take bone stock s2000 over the CR any day!
No it doesn’t, at all, and it’s less of an S2000. Your opinion is garbage
so feakin nice! i have always wanted a S2000.... still one of those cars i wanna get one day in my life.... but to get this done to it... would be freaking amazing....
I wonder what a modern 2023 Honda S2000 would be like with the FL5 Type R’s K20 Turbo engine.
Honda sells the k20c1 as a crate motor. I’m surprised someone hasn’t developed a transmission for rear wheel drive swaps.
I'm In Love with this S2k R
oem plus is the way👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼
I’ve read so much on this great to see it in the flesh!!!
This is the only shop I trust for my GTR. Glad to have them locally.
Work of art. Beautiful
Mate, that is a thing of beauty, great job.
