I built a monster 383 SBC for my camaro recently. 568 hp 531 lbft tq NET hp (measured with all accessories including hydroboost) perfectly streetable on 91 octane. My grand total was 11k CANADIAN with brand new heads, full new forged rotating assembly, the full suite of machine work on a 4 bolt main block and an excellent carb. The engine will take about 950 hp and roughly 8k rpm extremely safely. All that's required for boost is swapping the heads for larger volume combustion chambers. The carb is blowthrough ready and an electric fuel delivery system was included in my 11k total. I can achieve roughly 23mpg on the highway if I tune the carb for a road trip.
