Je me sens la passion que vous donniez en chaque leçon est très impressionnant! J’ai commencé d’apprendre le français moi même depuis 3 mois. C’est un défi, mais je trouve les joyeux d’apprendre une langue étrangère fascinante.
Excellent video ! For us French speakers it "sounds right" but for students it is not logical and the explanation here is very clear. The quiz is great to check the knowledge! Merci :)
For Portuguese speakers learning French this one is easy because to know something e to someone/somewhere are different and very similar to the French form. I love you videos and I’m learning a lot with them! Merci.
Merci pour cet vidéo. Je suis un étudiant en français au Québec et j’apprends beaucoup dans votre chaîne. Je vraiment adore votre énergie chaque vidéo. Merci Alexa ♥️
You really make things like eating a pie and I can use it in my day to day as well. Well, none of my teacher in the past really make efforts like you do and that's why I loves ur channel so much. Your teaching skills always boost me to know more and realise me things are not that much difficult. God bless you always and stay continue to make videos. I wish your channels get so many subscribers, I always recommend ur channel, videos to all my friends :)
Hey, i usually dont leave comments but i felt like i should really take out a minute and appreciate your efforts, you do a really good job. KEEP SHINING YOU BEAUTIFUL LADY.
I am Polish but also a fluent Italian language speaker so for me the use of "savoir" and "connaître" is very similar to the use of "sapere" e "conoscere".
In Latin, the ancestor of all Romance languages, the same distinction is made between “scire“ (to know - compare the noun “scientia,” science or knowledge) and “cognoscere” (to be familiar with - see the English adjective “cognitive” and the noun “cognition,“ which both refer to mental processes.👍
Fun fact: in Polish language we also distinguish these two words: wiedzieć (savoire) and znać (connaître). Russian and Ukrainian people use them wrong when they speak Polish, because they always say znać (connaître). For example, instead of saying "I know (that it's raining)" - wiem (je sais) - they say znam (je connais).
@@Kitiwake who cares if they wanna talk ab it they can, it’s not like it’s hurting someone i was here for french but i was interested in what they had to say too
Oh, it's so good to learn French being a Brazilian that speaks English. You all just don't know how much French can be similar to both Portuguese and English. It's marvellous. I can use my knowledge of the verbs "saber" and "conhecer" in Portuguese to learn "savoir" and "connaître" in French. I can use my knowledge of "still", "already", and "yet" in English to learn "toujours", "déjà", and "encore". Magnifique! Le français est très beau. J'espère apprendre un peu chaque jour !
Bonjour et merci beaucoup. In fact I always had the problem of choosing the correct verb among these two and used to refer to one of your past videos in this regard. Fortunately now I have improved. À bientôt.
Merci beaucoup, Alexa! I’ve been working on becoming fluent with an app after deciding not to let my high school and university French courses go to waste. This video has helped so much and I plan to use your other videos to supplement my learning.
Car je parle portugais et anglais, je connais la différence entre les deux verbes. But I still get it wrong from time to time, so your explanation just made everything clearer. Shukran Madame Alexa.❤
Hi Alexa thank u for all your efforts in teaching us French but I have a French test coming in a day's time and wanted to find out if u can pls guide me with some topics I can study to prepare for orals because after we are done with "connasance de langue" we're going to do orals the next day . You video's are really going to help me with the written part
Thank you for you lessons! A kind suggestion, please disable „Noise gate“ for your recordings, it cuts a bit too much and affects the verbal information.
Merci! That was a great post! However I got confused with one of the questions: (No.2) ‘je sais cette rue car…’ vs ‘je connais cette rue car…’ Earlier you said there are two reasons for using ‘savoir’: 1) knowing how to do something and 2) knowing specific facts or knowledge. Surely knowing a street because you were born there is a ‘specific fact’, therefore savoir could be used, no?
Would love it if someone who speaks French could clarify my doubt. Do we use savoir or connaître when we talk about: 1. Movies and TV shows 2. Actors and other celebrities (that you know of, but don’t personally know.) Merci beaucoup!
I want to make a small clarification. There is a difference between "Je connais cette chanson" and "Je sais cette chanson". What is the difference? "connaître" is used for imperfect knowledge that has several angles of attack and that we cannot know in totality. examples: people from cities from countries ..... "savoir" is used for any knowledge that can be learned in totality. example the alphabet. To describe the alphabet it is enough to list its 26 letters. For a poem it is enough to know the text. "Je connais cette chanson" has two possible meanings. "I've heard it before" or "I know the words" but "Je sais cette chanson" has only one meaning "I know the words". However it is that every time you can put "savoir" before a noun, you can also put "connaitre", so for a beginner level your rule is enough, however your students should not be surprised if they find exceptions
Actually to me it wasn't hard to learn bcz these two meanings of the v. know have two different verbs in my first tongue as there are two different verbs for them in French so yeah, I enjoyed the similarity between my first tongue (Persian/Farsi) and French.

The easy way I was taught to remember this. SAVOIR is to have knowledge. CONNAÎTRE is to be familiar with.

Yeah, it's the same in Swedish! Savoire is "vet" and connaitre is "känna"!
We're here for French
@@Kitiwake who cares if they wanna talk ab it they can, it’s not like it’s hurting someone

Yeah in German it’s the same, “kennen” (connaître) is like knowing a person and “wissen” (savoir) is more like knowing how to do something
