I learnt English in schools. While doing that I realized memorizing would help me pass the exams. But, memorizing wasn't one way to learn a langauge; I read news artcles, watch movies, listen to music, observe native speakers talk, etc. Fast forward to today, i have native-level English. I still do all the things that helped me get to this level every day. Learning is hard, retaining the skill is also tough. Keep on learning!
She reminds me of my Spanish teacher (previously I learned Spanish, now I am obviously learning French), because she seems like such a nice person and it's just positivity and interest in language from her the whole time she talks. Language teachers are a different breed, always such great people!
Dear "MyFrenchStory," thank you for explaining that even native French speakers must learn, practice, and "do the work." I am always in awe of the French, as if every French newborn popped out saying, "Je pense par consequent je suis." And then immediately the newborn sat down and had a probing conversation with Jean Paul Sartre. So comforting to know that even the French are like me. 🤔🙄🤫🤭🤗 ( And, good news, I found "bescherelle" as a free pdf download. Hallelujah! )
THANK U SOOO MUCH MY EXAMS ARE COMIN NEAR AND I THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO fail my exam but THANKFULLY i saw this video and i am sooooo realived U ARE A ....................... LIFE SAVER thank u sooooooo much.
Thank you so much for the effort. I have a hard time memorizing endings of the Subjonctif, like it is a real challenge. I usually use the simple present when I litterally mean the Sujonctif. I have been putting those tips into practice and I can see a notable change for the good
Thank you for this video Pearl! I actually ordered the Bescherelle book as your video was playing. I am finally going to get this French verb conjugation perfected! Love your videos!
English vocabulary origins include about 30% . from French, lesser %s from German (English at 1st was a dialect of German), Danish, Latin, Greek, etc. You Tube has some history of English videos that explain all this + more Story of English TV series + book numerous videos.
This was such good advice! I ordered my book and will start practicing the conjugations the way you recommend. Thank you for this video and your entire collection! Surely you are the best French teacher in the world!!
Thank you for the tips! You have simplified the process of verb conjugation for me. I just subscribed to your channel! I'm a native of Québec, Canada and even though I've been living here for 53 years, I am still struggling to become fluently bilingual. The French language is not that difficult to learn, it's the verb conjugation where it becomes complicated!! Also, Québec has it's own unique dialect. People here speak using mostly slang, so it can be difficult to understand if you have learned proper French. Out of frustration, I decided to finally start learning and memorizing verb conjugation in hopes that it will help me to speak more fluidly, without hesitating because I can't remember which verb tense to use!! Thanks for your help ❤
I have this book. it's very small but I love how they separate the colors. I'm a visual learner. I really need to see the separation of a word structure. I wish they would create more books like this. ❤ I know they have a few others, but I would like much more.
Thank you so much! my teacher is like ok this is the 1025 example and making it realy hard this girl is making it so much better!!! i wish i can show this to my teacher
@@keithorndoff4079 Which school in America? We have so many with varying teaching methods and levels, some excellent and some not so much. Btw, it's not "how school is taught in America"; it's more like "how subjects are taught in American schools".
I feel like it comes naturally after 2 years of learning. That’s what happened to me and my classmates, now I can even predict the endings of an irregular verb I haven’t come across.
hello mam i am basically an Indian and when i see your video before exam it is more easy for me to memorize your formulas .can you also post a video on how to make singular sentences to plural in French i would really look forward in seeing your videos . your formula is a life saver regards
Je crois que la meilleure méthode pour apprendre les conjugaisons, c'est de répéter souvent les verbes et de les utiliser presque tous les jours quand on parle ou écris!! Il n'y a pas vraiment d'autre choix !!
When she talked about the many tenses i was like, how many can there be. I know turkish with 4tenses, german with 6 tenses, english with 12 tenses so, how hard can it be. Google told me the painful truth. But like 21 what the hell. Anyways gonna watch the vid now
Thank you very much! Your video was super helpful and I ordered myself a copy of that book and am getting ready to watch your video on 20 verbs we need to know! Thanks! :)
Thank you for promoting your book and pointing out the obvious, But I was really hoping to have learnt some simple but quick methods of learning and storing Lists of Conjugated words, maybe something like we learn in Engineering. I actually learnt to speak French using short sentences containing different examples of tenses, but found that the Building Blocks of learning lists of tenses although hard are the way forward. This format of having a ground up knowledge is the basis of Great Engineer and a useless Engineer. Best of luck with the book sales Mr Spence Eng
I know all the conjugations (intellectually), but my struggle is in HEARING them in conversation. I can easily mistake someone using Imparfait for Presente, or something like that. I don't know if there's a strategic thing to listen for while doing listening practice, or if it's just about doing more listening.
You must practice listening in order to train your ear/brain to recognise the French sounds. The best way to do this is with active listening. Active listening means that you concentrate on what you are actually listening and not just playing it in the background. With active listening, you practice listening while reading simultaneously. It allows you to pair listening with reading, in other words associate written words with their pronunciation. This will eventually help you differentiate tenses as they have different pronunciation 👂
@@SeraphsWitness It really depends of your French level. If you don't understand any French, I would recommend to keep using English subtitles to enjoy the show. I would rather advise you to train your listening skills with shorter RUclips videos (5 to 10 min), as you should watch them more than once. You need to listen and read at the same time. By playing it again and again, what was just gibberish to you will eventually be more and more comprehensible.
There is also the problem of so many silent letters in verb conjugation endings For example, 3rd person plural verbs sound like 1st, 2nd, or 3rd person singular. so only pronouns can distinguish which endings to spell= Too many homonyms!!!
Well i love your videos and it helps me out a lot as i am still very young( don't wanna mention my grade or age) and i am also very weak in french so can you please upload a video on verb adorer. Please!!🙏🙏It'll help me out a lot.
