I am lucky to be French by birth...You should know that French is hard for us to learn. We go through 5 grade levels in primary school to learn conjugation and grammar. So be patient and listen to the advice of this charming young lady. You will get there with a lot of practice. You should know that English is not easy to learn for French speakers either.
Wouldn’t it be easier for me who knows Spanish and English ( fluent at both) for me French sounds kinda easy plus this video it’s better now, I just can’t let up the speed of them talking fast
I hope i can regain fluency in french, so I’ll take all the advice I can get!
And i can imagine, english must be so confusing. It literally has no feminine or masculine words💀.
@@skorpion1474 I started french from English and Spanish. I think it helped
I started learning French a long time ago but it was difficult without internet. I didn't get exposed to it that much. Now I can listen to French every day and hopefully will become better. The funny thing about the learning curve is that it's exponential rather than linear. You can struggle for years without success and then boom! things will happen fast. I have set the goal to become fluent before the year is over. Sounds crazy but I've already practiced for 25 years.
@@jerryhall5709 I’m going to live in Germany since the u.s is to dangerous for me and I want to learn at least German or French cuz I will visit Germany surrounding states for sure

I live in the UK and French is my native language - it was all i spoke until i reached 5 years old. When my brother came along he was speaking much more english than i was (he’s just a year younger) and according to my parents it encouraged me to speak English more frequently. Which was a good thing - cus at the time i could barely speak it at all - but then i focused so much on speaking english i a lot of my ability to speak french😐. My parents also encouraged speaking english at home, as we (the children) basically helped them with their english (as they could also barely speak it - they’ve improved so much now they’re actually fluent🤣♥️).
It was when I was about 11 years old i took it upon myself to regain the french abilities i lost over the years due to a lack of practice. I could still understand french extremely well, and surprisingly i was really good at reading it also. My speaking wasn’t fluent but it was constant with minor errors in pronunciation and tense. And writing?? Oh my god its still the one I’m worst at🤣🤣🤣. I just never had to write in french a day in my life until i took classes in secondary🤣. I’m in college now, leaving for uni this September and I’ve drastically improved since i started. I still get nervous about speaking french though because i doubt myself and - i don’t have an accent 🥲. I try to but in my opinion, I still sound like a british person speaking french lol (my friends disagree they think I do sound french, but they all speak english and not french so of course they would say I sound french😭). We were never taught on how to imitate the accent and some of the harder sounds in french (like the back of the throat sound - it always makes me tongue tired😂) so here I am practising it myself🤣👋🏾.
I’m currently doing A level french, and I’m so glad i took it upon myself to relearn part of my cultural identity. I impress a lot of my relatives since I’m the only child who speaks french so well out my siblings😁.
It's good that you know to speak it cause I can't and I really want to. I wish I was born speaking it.
@@krystelleharris6699 sometimes i wish that my mum was a lot more encouraging with me and my siblings speaking french growing up. Like other kids who were 1st generation british where going to culture schools after mainstream school and so where fluent in their native language. I wasn’t like them kids. I only envy them as i got older, because i would wish i would be more involved with my culture and language like that.
But that doesn’t matter now, what matters is that i took the opportunity to re-learn my language, and if you want to learn a new language - go for it! You can only improve from here! So look to the future and keep practicing, don’t dwell on the past. That won’t get you anywhere.

Well done! It's a beautiful language, and I am glad you haven't lost it. Sadly, my son who started off speaking Irish doesn't speak a word anymore, after a health visitor reported me to social services. (We were living in England, and she claimed I was damaging his development by raising him bilingual, and that Irish was a useless language which would just confuse him. This was in the nineties.) So, I am always glad to hear stories like yours. I don't even know you and I am proud you took your familial language back.

A suggestion: can you keep the volume the same when teaching and echoing because your instruction voice was much louder than the echo part and I had to keep turning the volume up and down.

salut! j'aime le français depuis toujours, quand ma grand-mère m'a parlé en francais quand j'étais plus jeune (mais elle est anglaise comme moi et c'était avec une petite vocabulaire) alors j'ai l'étudié au college et je m'appris encore. J'ai passé mes examens d'un niveau avancé avec des bonnes notes mais pendant toute ma vie, mon accent était le pire ! Merci pour tes conseils, je vais les utiliser avec mon petit-ami (qui est français !) et avec mes copains français. T'es très gentille et merci encore !

very good. I like the way you repeat the sounds of the words. Im learning French and I live with a French person. I get him to repeat the sound of a word again and again. I don;t know the essence of grammar so I have to learn by sounds. I found the syllable Roy as in Royaume Uni SO difficult at first. Thank you!
I'm an advanced French Speaker and sometimes I slip up on prouncations so this helped a lot

omg u saved me, i've always thought -in and -un sound the same but all other french nasal vowel videos make them seem sound different from each other. thank you.
In some southern regions of France, the pronunciation is different for -in /ɛ̃/ and -un /œ̃/ but in the rest, it's all /ɛ̃/
Also, the way she says "mais" /me/ is southern as well. Most people say it /mɛ/ as in maison

I messed up with the different-sounding ones and my sleepy brain said “they’re all the same.” Logic brain knew better but was half-asleep. (as a native english speaker, I am sort of proud of myself for having been able to pick up a harder word like l’écureuil in only my first year of learning, especially since there are so many letters lol)

When you are learning a new language how do reactions when that Native speaker overreacts when you mispronounce a word? Sometime in he learns the process you will make mistakes. Some people find it to be disrespectful to them.
Salut Dominique! It is a very interesting comment. Usually native speakers don’t overreact if you make a mistake but if they do... don’t take it personally. You are learning so it won’t be perfect. And the funny thing is... even native speakers make mistakes 😂

"Mais", "jouet", "briquet", "poulet" have the "è" sound, not the "é" sound like in "bébé".
"Un" and "in" are also 2 different sounds.

Tu as de la chance, quand tu parle anglais t'as toujours ton accent un peu frenchy, alors que moi j'ai pas du tout un accent français, mais alors pas du tout, quand je parle les gens pensent que je suis un nigérien ou un russe qui essaye de parler anglais alors que je suis français, evidémment j'ai un accent quand je parle anglais mais je sonne pas du tout français je sais pas comme ça se fait 😔
J'ai le même souci, sauf que moi les gens me disent que j'ai un accent allemand. Je comprends pas trop non plus d'où ça vient.
Je suppose juste que toi comme moi devons essayer de faire de notre mieux pour parler anglais correctement mais on doit se planter légèrement sur l'accentuation de certains mots.

Out of all sounds, to me the hardest part is still how to differentiate on, en, and in. Also, i'm still working on pronouncing U and Q letter.
The one which caught me out was bonne! Came out sounding like the bon in English bonbon!!!
