Not having the magnum in the game was a missed opportunity imo. Would have served a nice niche as a sniper weapon especially if we can upgrade it to have a zoom scope. The reloading would have also been interesting in VR. Also satisfies Valve's wish that all weapons be one handed. Hopefully someone can make a mod for it once the mod tools get a little more capable.

I like how these guns look very unique and fit well with the dystopian alien earth aesthetic. Half life 2’s guns felt very bland such as an mp7 and a regular pistol. The only gun in that game that fit the aesthetic was the combine rifle

Interesting, all of your weapons are one handed weapons. This makes sense since with current VR tech and no Rifle Stock/Controller you will have a hard time aiming a two handed weapon in VR without some extra magic. Not only do you lack the contact points and support of rifle, but also weight, the VR controllers are quite light compared to a real handgun and are nothing compared to a 5-10lb/2.27-4.54kg rifle. Although it sucks you cant have a full size SMG, Assualt Rifle, Shotgun, or Sniper Rifle, I do think it makes sense for the game Valve is trying to make.
You can hold the weapons w/ both hands, and the game even has the correct animation for it. It's just all weapons are held pistol style aka other hand below grip.

This is why aiming two handed guns in VR is difficult without a stock or Rifle Controller and probably the reason why Valve opted to stick to one handed weapons.

Am I the only one who doesn't understand the point of having a bullet reservoir on the pistol? I'd rather just have an extended magazine that gives me 12 or 15 rounds instead of 10, even though that wouldn't make sense. Also, I think the pistol's laser sight should have been blue, while the pulse gun's should have been red.
It doesnt make any sense for a weapon upgrade to suddenly transform all the pistol magazines in the world into extended magazines. Keep in mind that all the ammo pickups in the game are all in the form of magazines, not ammo boxes like in Half-Life 2. Also, its Sci-fi. Its a novel concept never seen before in media.
I am guessing it would be to hard in vr for people who don't know about guns to understand to use, which is why they didn't add a Rocket launcher, Revolver and crossbow.

The Alyx pistol can only burst fire. The Combine Pulse Pistol fires in full auto and has higher capacity and automatic reloads.
