This wasn't technically our wedding song, but this was "our" song. My wife passed at 34 in November. I feel you on the mixed emotions, brother. It's been 3 months and this is the first time I've been able to listen to it the whole way through.
Im an old metal-head, but Van will always be in my top 10 all time favorites. His songs are so good. Hes such a talented man. Forget Brown Eyed Girl, that's more of a radio sing along. His best music comes from his soul and life experiences. Songs like Cleaning Windows, Have I told You Lately, Domino, Moondance, Dweller on The Threshold, and Ancient Highway are just a few that pop up in my head, but there are so many more.
Old metal heads represent! I'm right there with you, I've seen him twice in concert. Always amazes me the way his voice is another instrument in the band and it just fits in right in with the vibe of the music.
As a 65 year old rocker that got this album in the early 70's from Columbia Record Club, In to the Mysticc is a great song. But Cleaning Windows is an awesome undiscovered gem. Tale of a man that was very happy where he was in his life cleaning windows.
"Astral Weeks" is one of the greatest albums ever, and you can't really put it into a category....Van walked into a studio with a group of professional jazz musicians in 1968 and it magically transformed his songs into a masterpiece.....it was an amazing thing. Definitely worth checking out.....
This Irish born great soul /R&B, and jazz artist etc. is one of the all-time greats. His career started in 1965, at age 18 with his first Band "Them." Now in at least his mid 70s, Morrison is right there with another great, singer/songwriter, Bob Dylan of the same "Classic Rock" era of the 60s and 70s. Van Morrison is so damn talented.
You've stumbled into legendary territory, if you want to explore it. Try slinky "Moondance" or magical "And It Stoned Me" or upbeat "Caravan". Whatever flavor, Van is astonishing.
That base line will forever take me back to a lil tavern where we went after a good days work. Someone would always play this. It really helped release the day.
OK LEX!! You made me lol this time. After all the times I've sensually danced to this song, with and without a partner, I never once considered it was a good song to poop to. You crack me up!!!!!
Van Morrison is one of the big heavyweights of music. Probably in the top 20 artists of all time. His back catalogue is one of the biggest treasures in music.
Great tune! There is a movie "Immediate Family" with Mary Stuart Masterson, this song brings me to that character and feeling every time I hear it. Love the low sounding sax/organ as a foghorn. Masterpiece of a song!
Not many like Van ... soulful, bluesy, jazzy, and yet still brings that classic "The Band" vibe of story telling. One of my top 10 favs. Thanks for sharing.
It's 3 AM, and I'm awake and in pain because of a pinched nerve in my back, making my right leg feel like it's going to explode. Then I see another Van drop from Brad and Lex, so I hope it will cheer me up. Mission accomplished. Lex made me laugh so loud that I may have woken my neighbor. I love you two. Thanks for making my day better.
Yes, Van Morrison. Van was in a 60's Band called "Them," I like "Domino; Moondance, Did you Get Healed, Someone like You, Have I told you Lately, Professional Jealousy, I'd love to write another Song, Queen of the Slipstream, I forgot that love existed, Sometimes I feel like a motherless Child, Give me my Rapture, Baby please don't Go, And it stoned Me & Bring it on home to Me. Still have his Originals on Cassette.
"Healing Music". Yes, it fits with that idea, and he also has a song or an album that mencion something like that. He has dozens of great songs. Many of this style but one that I especially like is "accient highway". In that he sets the bar a little higher. "I forgot that love existed", "Magic time", "Dweller on the threshold", "Summertime in England"... Lots and lots of great songs, and of course "Gloria". His live medley of "Shake it All Over/Gloria" shouldn't be missed.
I'm with you Lex on relieving all your stress. Van Morrison's music is like that. Brad hit it on the head with a long day after work. I've listened to his music lots of times after a long, grueling day.
Over 30 years ago I lucked into going to see Van Morrison in Toronto. I knew nothing of his work. I cannot remember a single song. But I do remember this. For a man who has seen at least 100 concerts ... this one was one of the best !
This song is truly a classic (one of many from Van Morrison), which somehow makes me feel better whenever I hear it. The band I've been in with my brother for many years will occasionally play this song and it always gets a big response from the audience.
I get so much joy watching Lex's enthusiasm for each song! I'm hoping the squeaky wheel gets the oil when I ask you to give "Do you know what I mean" by Lee Michaels a listen 🙂
A lot of Van's songs have some great Saxophone work in them. When he sings. "When that foghorn blows", the saxes come in almost like a foghorn. Jackie Wilson Said is another great sax song.
Wife here..My favorite Van Morrison song Hands down.."Acoustic and electric good vibes.."Well said..The Sax though...Pure Serendipity..Thanks once again
Van, the MAIN MAN! Try Jackie Wilson Said! I’ll have you 2 up and dancing! And I definitely want to see that! Thanks for another great reaction. Cheers! 😎🎶❤️
The first time I heard this song was on American Pie (the one where they get married)...I like listening to it when I put in my ear buds and drink myself into a good buzz.Very chill song.
A glorious song. I sing it live at gigs and hope I do it some justice. In Van's original the point where the cello "foghorns" come in always sends shivers down my spine. The lyrics are are a beautiful mixture of love and mysticism too. You should try some more of Van - "Tupelo Honey", "Brown Eyed Girl", "Ballerina", "Vanlose Stairway"...
My favorite Van Morrison tune, followed by Caravan, Tupelo Honey, Moondance, Domino, Have i told You Lately, Gloria, Brown Eyed Girl, Jackie Wilson Says This will be played on my way out, my lovely wife and I had to have it played at our wedding,
Definitely one of Van's most beautiful songs. Tupelo Honey is another.
Definitely.
I love Days Like This also
@@weswohlgemuth2956 Absolutely!
Agreed Tupelo honey is a fantastic song
if I tried to list one of Van's most beautiful songs..... the list would be over a hundred long.
The whole Moondance album is a must listen. But so is every other Van Morrison album. Amazing musician.
I agree ,for me I still think moondance is his greatest album.
I like "Moondance" & "Brown Eyed Girl" .. ♠W.G.

This wasn't technically our wedding song, but this was "our" song. My wife passed at 34 in November. I feel you on the mixed emotions, brother. It's been 3 months and this is the first time I've been able to listen to it the whole way through.
sorry for your loss. We didn't dance to this but our first dance was Moondance. Can't got wrong with Van
VAN THE MAN!! A true musical genius
Let your soul and spirit fly, into the mystic. Come on girl!
His best song and one of the best ever.

Van’s voice is just so emotive, his phrasing is masterful.
I played this at my husband’s funeral. Van has been asked what this song is about and he even says he doesn’t know.
Lex gets Van because they are both uniquely themselves!! Great song!! Great reaction!!

Seconded.
Such fantastic musicianship, great songs, delivered and recorded fantastically.
Dude thats such a calming chill album
The Way Young Lovers Do, Sweet Thing, Cypress Avenue. Fantastic album.
The legend goes that Van didn't give them any direction other than to "play what you feel".

I'm currently 74, i live 'hawai'i ... told my peeps here, smoke me, take me out to 'the place' and dump me ... with this song blaring!
You've stumbled into legendary territory, if you want to explore it. Try slinky "Moondance" or magical "And It Stoned Me" or upbeat "Caravan". Whatever flavor, Van is astonishing.
Caravan live from the Band's Last Waltz! Also Bright Side of the Road is another.
Van the man at work, doesn’t get better than this
Van is amazing. From Briown Eyed Girl and Gloria to Madam George and Wavelength, Multi talanted.
That base line will forever take me back to a lil tavern where we went after a good days work. Someone would always play this. It really helped release the day.
This song is timeless. It will be relevant centuries from now, much as Beethoven, Bach, and Mozart songs are today.
if there are 3 musical genius from Beethoven, Bach, and Mozart van is one
Wife here...Favorite Van Morrison song..The Bass and Acoustic with Sax..Makes it very Beautiful 😍♥
OK LEX!! You made me lol this time. After all the times I've sensually danced to this song, with and without a partner, I never once considered it was a good song to poop to. You crack me up!!!!!
My day gets better just watching Lex digging these songs with her true spirit. She's a bright light and authentic!
Married my beautiful bride to this song in 1995. A Van Morrison epic.
Used to listen to this a lot while at sea on a navy destroyer. Will always be one of my absolute favorite songs. ⚓️
All of the sailors love this beautiful song
Agreed. One of the best songs ever written.
Music like this works like a time machine, if you grew up in the 70's you cant listen to this without all the memories flooding in..
Van Morrison is always perfect in every song.
Check out his classic “Gloria”.
Def in my top 10 of all time. Zen af. I like y’all vibe @Brad and Lex. Subscribed and liked 👏💜

One of the best albums of all time. “And it stoned me” is a great song too
Van the man! One of the greats.
One of my all time favorite songs!!🎷🎵🎶 Love the "foghorn"!!💜💜
The foghorn is perfect!
It was so smart to play the organ there, even if just for that one note/chord every time that part came around.
Great tune! There is a movie "Immediate Family" with Mary Stuart Masterson, this song brings me to that character and feeling every time I hear it. Love the low sounding sax/organ as a foghorn. Masterpiece of a song!
Yes that’s why I’m here from that movie
Love Love Love this song!!! So beautiful. Van is truly the man.
Van the Man. My go to songs will always be Tupelo Honey and Moondance.
“Have I told you lately” and “Someone like you” are great songs.

Definitely healing music. As my marriage was ending, I spent hours listening to this album. It helped me keep my sanity!
I had a special connection to Crazy Love. Why I remember when it came out 25 years before I was born. My ovum years. lol

Van Morrison "Dancing in the Moonlight" Great, great song!
Nighttime driving road trip music! Thinking all the way!

Kind of weird now knowing that my favorite song of all time is going to be used to help Lex with constipation. 😂
Lol!
Re-laxative music? Brings new meaning to Brown Eyed Girl lol
A magical tune. I would like this played at my celebration of life.
A lot of Van's songs have some great Saxophone work in them. When he sings. "When that foghorn blows", the saxes come in almost like a foghorn. Jackie Wilson Said is another great sax song.
How could anyone not love her.
When my son got married this was the song they played for their first dance. Always always loved it. 🥰✌️
Great watching you two enjoying Van. His first band used to practice in the house opposite my mums in East Belfast in the 60s ❤
Wow. Great song. So many great songs from Van Morrison - mystical. He is one of the greats.
Wife here..My favorite Van Morrison song Hands down.."Acoustic and electric good vibes.."Well said..The Sax though...Pure Serendipity..Thanks once again
A true beauty of a song. When my wife and I married 4 years ago, our kids were the wedding party, and this was their entry music.
Van Morrison has some beautiful songs. He had a real knack for it, and is still at it.
I'm watching this by my campfire and I'm loving this song plus she pretty funny too. Good time too.
Van, the MAIN MAN! Try Jackie Wilson Said! I’ll have you 2 up and dancing! And I definitely want to see that! Thanks for another great reaction. Cheers! 😎🎶❤️

The next Van Morrison song should be "days like this" one of my favorites.
That is a great album
The entire "Moondance" album is top notch. Every bit of it as good as this.
I agree it is a great song to relax too. I used to burn candles, turn off the lights, fix myself a drink and just dive in to the music.
OMG.
Getting weepy just waiting for this to load. Perfect song.
Van also did all the arrangements. He composed the music for all of the instruments. One of a kind.
The first time I heard this song was on American Pie (the one where they get married)...I like listening to it when I put in my ear buds and drink myself into a good buzz.Very chill song.
Now you are listening to some of very best rock/folk music ever made. Van Morrison is in my opinion a musical genius.
Oh Lex, you just CRACK me UP!
Bradley, I am so glad you're liking the music more than what it all means.

Van's the man. One of the top songs played by surgeons in Operating Room.

That bass line! This song is pure gold.
So many amazing Van Morrison songs but this one is at the very top for me. Love this song!
One of my favorite songs. It's one those songs that really does reach your soul.

This is my all time favorite song. Yep I can choose one!
The rhythm of this song reminds me of riding an air mattress in the pool, in the shade, with shades on and a drink in my hand. Chillin'!!
One of my favs from Van the Man! Great choice!
Oh my gosh, such a lovely song.
My second favorite VM song. "And it stoned me." is the first. Yall rock.
My favorite Van Morrison song by far!
Another relax/chill song of his and one of my favorites by him is "Days Like This."
