  • After 6 months of waiting - my Epiphone Les Paul Modern - Pelham Blue has FINALLY been fixed. I took it to be repaired in September 2022 and just got it back today in March 2023. I bought it from PMT in 2021 and it developed a fault where the volume would dip massively on the neck pickup - almost to the point of no sound at all, So I took it back to PMT to fix it under warranty.
I didn't think it would be 6 months later that my Epiphone Les Paul Modern finally returned.
I wasn't happy with this whole situation and I'm just glad it's all sorted.

Your bad experience is a good reason to learn some basic, simple electronics repair. Most guitars aren't super complicated. The warranty qualification certainly made the repair a bit more complex.
Glad you have it back, it sounds great!

That’s very true, the push pull wiring system looks a lot more complicated but it would be cool to learn for sure!

That is terrible customer service. At every point you had to contact them for an update. At no point was an update forthcoming from them. I suspect, as you say, that the guitar had been ready for a while and no one contacted you. All speculation on my board but based on your experiences up until the point of getting the guitar back. I will always give people the benefit of the doubt (almost to a fault) but that's shocking customer service. I speak as someone who works with clients directly and have done my entire working career. 1/5 for me. They get 1 because the guitar did eventually get fixed.

Yeah I think I was pretty patient with it all. Not to mention I’m a guitarist for work & I bought that guitar to do a job with, & didn’t have it for 6 months (whilst still obviously having to work)

I have a slightly earlier Epi Les Paul that have the same Probucker PuPs and similar push/pull pots. The difference is that the Modern has CTS pots with treble bleed, that combination of pot with quick connector might be somewhat harder to obtain...but shouldn't take six months. As you say, maybe the wrong one came the first time (i.e. non CTS/no treble bleed).

ive had similar experiences and my friends have as well with PMT in the London area i took a guitar back to get them to sort out string buzz which they didn't do and i tool it to another guitar shop to get a technician who actually knows what they are doing to sort it out.

Hey Rob Galley, Cheers from the U.S., I am right there with you. It seems like work ethics of any shop or business etc. has lowered the standards of customer service. I thought it was just here in the U.S. but turns out nope its all over the place. Sorry to hear you had such a shit show of a time. Glad you got it back though.

I have the exact same issue on my Gibson SG standard. It's got to the point that when I pull knob to go to single coil, I have to hit my boost pedal to make up for the difference in sound. My guitar is far past the warranty so I'm just putting up with it. Did PMP tell you which part they had to order, like a new pot?

  • @AnimalJohn85

Have you cracked the back open to make double sure they have actually changed the part?
Glad its fixed for you but certainly wouldnt trust PMT as far as I could chuck em.

Their excuses sound like bs. Nothing in that guitar is exotic or a hard to find part. It sounds like a case of employees that don" have any integrity or concern for customers.

6:20 LMAO your guitar's been used by them guys throughout the 6 months then. 😅😅😅🤣🤣🤣 they've fixed it long ago, they know where you live and they figured you'd not gonna bother physically going there, or will give a call once you go to the shop.
So I bet they've been playing it, been jamming with it, been making instagram videos of it, and yeah they did a good use of your guitar. 😁👍👍
