    Is 10,000 rpms too much power to polish?
    I'm new to this so trying to get more info. Thanks in advance

    • @EvanStegerMetalPolishing
      @EvanStegerMetalPolishing  4 года назад +1

      Yes, it is way too fast. Most buffs are rated for 3,500 rpm. Lots of us spin them at 6,000 rpm but it is super dangerous if it blows out. I know guys that lost fingers and broke wrists.

    • @EvanStegerMetalPolishing
      @EvanStegerMetalPolishing  5 лет назад

      Thank you for the compliment and my reasoning is I use whatever I find works the best. Zephyr makes a fine product but I find other products to get me a better finish. But to each their own. Some other polishers find they get a better finish with other products as well. Every manufacturer makes their products a little different than others. Thank you for watching. Truly appreciate it.

    What size grinder do you use?
    -- 4 1/2 inch or a 7inch/9inch??
    And also, how do you get in the circles of the rims??

    • @EvanStegerMetalPolishing
      @EvanStegerMetalPolishing  6 лет назад

      Jon Sutton Jr. We use 7” and 9”. 4 “ is way too small and fast. Torque isn’t enough and speed too fast. To do in the holes you need a cone buff or powerball.

    Evan on rims I go orange and brown then yellow with green then I do hand polishing with zephyr pr40 is there a need to go with hand polished some guys on Facebook said that they don’t used hand polished if you know what I’m getting at

    • @EvanStegerMetalPolishing
      @EvanStegerMetalPolishing  6 лет назад +1

      If I color the wheel with green compound I don't normally hand polish. Hand polish is a great maintainer but not necessary over fresh polish.

    • @MyNavy1234

It definitely looks a lot better and shiny but I’m still seeing very light scratches ??? Am I doing something wrong? First step and 2nd step I have it at 3000 rpm’s . Thanks again , Ed

    What rpms do you cut and color with? 3:21 pm

    • @EvanStegerMetalPolishing
      @EvanStegerMetalPolishing  Год назад

      In this specific video the cut and color is at 6,000 rpm and the final finish buff is 1800-2200. 18oo when the buff is new and 2200 when the pad gets smaller and wears down.

    • @EvanStegerMetalPolishing
      @EvanStegerMetalPolishing  4 года назад

      I tell beginners to start with 3500 rpm or less and advanced users to use 6000 rpm.

    Why do we clean the puff wheel with a metal brush? When do.we know it's time to.clean the puff with it ?

    • @EvanStegerMetalPolishing
      @EvanStegerMetalPolishing  5 лет назад

      EA Jam the metal helps keep it clean and fresh. Rake it out anytime the buff gets crispy or stiff.

  • @derekP423

    Will Red buff and brown bar work just as good as Orange buff and brown bar

    • @EvanStegerMetalPolishing
      @EvanStegerMetalPolishing  6 лет назад

      Derek Pvhouse it’s just a stiffer cut. So might have to step it down before coloring.
