For the Sonic and Tails codenames, it's a blink it and you'll miss it moment, but the little brother does call Mirage Knuckles when he's checking on them in the final fight.
I would love if wheeljack showed up in every future movie but with a different accent and a different design each time. I just think it would be really funny
Regarding Scourge's mask, a list of cut content from the movie has been released and there was supposed to be a scene explaining Scourge's backstory and how he became a herald of Unicron. Most likely the mask coming off was supposed to be a callback to that. I'm hoping we'll get a director's cut with all that stuff added back in (except Wheeljack's sex jokes, I don't want to see that) With Unicron not being Earth in this movie and the mention of Mark Wahlberg, it feels like Caple Jr is trying to scream at us that the Bumblebee movie was a reboot but that one producer is holding a gun to his head so he can't outright say it.
he outright said it in a interview, both him and hasbro have said bumblebee and this movie are part of a soft reboot the producer is just a dumbass who thinks because its bumblebee and optimus its part of the same universe
I think they're going more for an X-men Days of Future Past set up personally, we reached a point in the originals where the writers wrote themselves into a wall (Just like X3) so we go back, redo history and then have the two points meet up, have a big ruck and set out on a new altered timeline where the Bay movies never happen, they're even following the X films decade jumping shtick too.
That makes sense. It REALLY feels, with the mention that he's the last survivor of his planet and the mask reveal, like there's something more going on with Scourge than we got to see, and I wanna know what!
@@NewtNewt117 The original script stated that Wheeljack was Arcee's ex-boyfriend and he was supposed to make some perverted sex jokes about her being inside him. Glad they cut that, it's very Michael Bay-ish in all the worst possible ways.
Mirage’s illusion are based off of schematics that are stored in his t-cog. So if he scanned a garbage truck he becomes the cab and the rest is cover by hard light illusions
Also Airazor is speculated/implied to have had her t-cog destroyed by a predacon who followed her group of maximals. That predacon is the one who eliminated the rest of Airazor’s away-team of sorts.
I think my favorite thing about the scene where Noah and Optimus and Primal work together is that “Arrival to earth” works as musical storytelling. In the original film, ATE is mainly used as the theme for the autobots and/or good guys, especially as an introduction to the autobots. It’s the phrase “Behold, the wonder of the transformers coming to our world” distilled into a musical score. It is played as a sort of greeting to us for the autobots. In ROTB, it’s not used as an introduction, we see Optimus and company and are introduced to them without ATE. So it’s use at the end seemed a bit odd at first to me. But then I realized it works as a way of complementing the fact that Optimus now sees earth as place with people worth saving, it’s not his pit stop to just leave in the dust, it’s his home. “Arrival to earth” acts as a way to tell us the audience “behold, the transformers are now truly dedicating themselves to earth”. It’s not a greeting, it’s a triumphant musical moment of two peoples coming together as one, it’s optimus arriving to earth in a mental sense, not a physical one. And that is awesome.
Arcee and Wheeljack admittedly don't do _much,_ but They DID have a cut romance arc/dynamic thing which would've absolutely cinched their presence in this movie Like Transit, it was unfortunately cut from the final movie, but _aaaaa_ man, why can't we just GET giant robots doing shit like being dorks and being into each other Also Wheeljack was apparently also supposed to offer Optimus his glasses while they were surveying Peru and before Noah and Elena infiltrate the parade, which would have been _hilarious_
Noah, Elena and Charlie have really made me realise that humans dont have to be an annoying drag on the plot. This reboot era has them be active participants alongside the robots. Mirage and Noah feel like theyve become mates. I love how trusting Mirage is of this man that tried to break into him. I agree we should have gotten the Elena and Arcee moment, but I can buy her curiousity winning out over fear anytime. Lovely cast
@@lonewolf9578 Noah was a pretty good character, TF human characters seem to work best when they are a part of the military. He had an entire arc of setting aside his selfishness to save the world and had an interesting story with his brother.
@@HenryLouis21 They introduce him being a former member of the military and then do nothing with it And then there’s Elena who not only was only there for the plot but her actresses performance was terrible
@@lonewolf9578 He has military training and was a techie in the military, a skill which he used to make a living in New York. Hell, it actually paid off when he finally joined G.I. Joe so I say it went somewhere. Also, the actress for Elena was pretty descent and her performance was pretty good.
@@HenryLouis21 he literally does nothing with his military skills past his introduction when he works in the tv thing and then when he goes for the job interview And Elena’s acting and performance was terrible and felt unenthusiastic and wooden. It makes the acting from the rings of power cast look Oscar worthy
I love the way they handled Primal’s name because it (A) was handled well and (B) hit the “never meet your heroes” trope. Primal basically goes, “man… this guy sucks.”
Was it "this guy sucks" or "this guy is at a crossroads and his constant failures are eating away at him, causing him to lash out" because I saw the latter I'll be honest.
The way I see Mirage’s multiple vehicle modes is as this. He has a large file full of 3D models for his holograms, and also for alternate vehicles to keep in hiding, so he has all the vehicles on file and can switch between them as he sees fit. And in terms of mass shifting into a garbage truck, I’ve heard someone theorise that he just turns into the main chassis and can and the entire garbage section is a hologram. That’s just my thoughts on Mirage and his many cars
I saw a comment from one of the film's designers that the Scourge face reveal was supposed to convey that he was a zombified husk taken over by unicron? Cool idea but I didn't catch it in the theater
I sort of feel the same way. I mean, I expected Sector 7, but if you wanna give me a movie of this same quality that features Optimus Prime and Duke doing cool shit together, then I'm totally down.
What if John Cena's character came back as Duke? think if they want to have military guys in a future movie, it doesn't really change much if they're Sector 7 or NEST or GI Joe. They don'T even need to focus on them at all, just be a couple dudes in funky uniform with as much focus as Rhinox and Cheetor got in this movie.
I think Hasbro has dialed back somewhat on their "shared universe" ambitions, but they still seem very desperate to make G.I. Joe a 'thing', and are currently convinced the way to do that is to hitch it to the Transformers movie franchise.
I still have no idea how people think this is still in the Bayverse. I know the old director refuses to let it die and he's very vague, but the new director has very clearly stated that this is 100% in a new continuity and timeline. That being said, I really enjoyed this film. I'm looking forward to the future installments because apparently the next one has already been greenlit.
Unicron is the main proof it's a reboot because he's not the Earth. A lot of Energon vibes: Pink Motorcycle Arcee Maximals show up Terrorcons are the minions of Unicron
I loved Optimus’ mouth and nose. They hyper-accentuated how grumpy and depressed he was, and thank GOD Optimus Prime is finally allowed to have emotions after 36 years
I think TF Prime having Unicron be the Earth was fine and it's a creative take. I actually liked the conflict of "how do you fight/kill the big bad WHEN YOU LIVE ON HIM?" Thing is, it was nice to see ONCE. The Bay films trying to ape the idea was cheap and felt like a knockoff, not to mention an idea you knew they weren't going to follow through on ever even if those movies DID continue. I guarantee that the next movie in line would have just forgot about it to do something else becuase that's what those movies have always done and everything they've ever baited or teased ended up being a throwaway misdirect. But I digress, I was fine with TF Prime doing it but yeah, It's not an idea we need to see again ever so I'm glad RotB brought him back to being an outside threat. Also, I'm fine with GI Joe being a shared universe because it technically always has been, but much like before, just let it be it's own thing. They did the one episode of G1 where they fought Cobra Commander (and I don't think they ever actually even named him as such but it was fairly obvious) but otherwise, the Joes and Transformers kept their adventures separate and to their own cartoons. They can take place in the same continuity but they don't need to be tied at the hip or even really interact with one another. Sure, after they've both had their own fun, you can do a big silly crossover event movie but then everybody has to back to their own homes after the slumber party's over and go back to playing by themselves again. I don't want to see them go full MCU and continue to pop in and out of each other's movies.
What this has over the Bayformer movies is a massive amount of heart and soul, and I love that about it. Yes it’s a pew pew action movie but it feels human
I genuinely thought it was going to be M.A.S.K. at the end, the organization having recovered the wreckage and bodies from Peru and using them as a basis for the transforming vehicles.
Got to agree with you on this: It's good to have Transformers back in the summer again! And this was a good film, as you said too. Not perfect; but not the Bayverse mind-numbing dribble either (Transformers creating everything, for example).
28:19 argree that Transfomers doesnt need GiJoe, but the ending felt more like GiJoe needs Transformers in order to get SOME box office success. Time, and a decent script, will tell.
I think Wheeljacks design is the most controversial due to being the least G1 inspired of everyone, I still like it tho, and I love Stratosphere with all my being despite just being the Astrotrain of the Autobots
Probably the best Transformers movie in my opinion Also... if they MUST have military in the movies like in the previous ones... why not make them GIJoe?
For me, I think it's arguably one of the worst. Better than AOE and TLK, but not better than those first 3 films, I'm sorry bro. Especially when Prime was so damn WEAK in this film.
@@kennythetrend3688 It’s okay, everyone has their tastes and preferences. I don’t think Prime is weak at all, he’s as overpowered as in every movie, getting most of the kills, most of the battles and making all the other bots almost redundant, like in the other movies…
Favorite joke of the movie: 'I'm not following you, i'm escapeing in the same direction' also that pre-credits scene made me giggle like a child. also...Noah's GI Joe Codename is probably going to be Dialtone or Breaker and i am here for it!
I'm glad you mentioned the tower construction, that took me for a loop for a bit because I was expecting him to DM his Boo again and it didnt happen? The drive in line was still my favourite optimus moment in this movie, I think
I love that they play off Bumblebee's constant showboating and borrowing of one-liners throughout the films as just him being an impressionable young lad who's seen too many drive-in films and wants to look cool. Which is not helped by the fact that he's the only one in the group built for war from the get-go and is thus technically the most qualified next to Optimus. Overall I'm glad this is helping people understand that the Transformers kind of NEED human involvement to properly contextualize how cool the world is. Otherwise part of the appeal of them - being giant robots as a baseline with smaller ones being specialized members - is lost. IDW got away with it because they focused explicitly on the other half - they're living, feeling beings with an explicit humanity to them trying to figure out how the universe around them works and what's best for themselves. As for stuff like Mirage's shifting, I have a theory that most of the surviving Autobots are reincarnations/descendants of different members of the Thirteen Primes. Prime's a straight-up reincarnation of his first self(Has to learn how to extend olive branches), Mirage is Amalgamous (Always changing shapes), Arcee is either Solus or Alchemist (Fits her whole "Energon era motorcycle" look as a foreman for a mining operation), Wheeljack is Quintus (Strong appreciation for life in all forms), Boss Monkey is Onyx (Deeply spiritual and understands the flow of nature), Stratosphere is Vector(Energon exposure at the end of the film causes his body to effectively de-age a few hundred years) and Bumblebee is Prima (Bringer of hope for a brighter tomorrow) I'm also glad that most of the cybertronians that die get a bit of pathos attached to them, even Scourge to an extent since Optimus looks more disgusted with himself than happy, as if he realized this isn't who he wants to be and what he could be if he just stopped caring about things other than his own wants and desires. Airazor NOT exploding or falling to bits was a welcome surprise and it made Primal's whole euthanasia bear-hug feel haunting. It's kind of wild that he didn't get the kill on Scourge, but I'm also kind of refreshed by it since it implies he's already learned to cope with losing people close to him (And probably blew off the excess steam by reducing Battletrap into something resembling a pile of thoroughly-ignored road signs.) I think the mask-off moment for Scourge was meant to be some big hint that he has been through the goddamn WRINGER to get where he is now, and whatever did that to him is the only other time he knew shame until losing the Transwarp key.
Two things I'd like to mention: 1.) Mirage's personality screamed out to me 'I'm G1 Hot Rod', but his abilities were definitely Mirage. So I can understand the naming. 2;) I'm hoping the G I Joe tie-in is more used in a Live Action G I Joe franchise instead of in future Transformers movies. G I Joe needs that connection more. I just want to see Channing Tatum, Dwayne Johnson, John Cena and Josh Duhamel as Joes.
About the Sonic and Tails bit where you're talking about how Noah and his brother talk through the radio, Noah's brother does actually attempt to talk to Mirage after his supposed death and his codename was Knuckles which was pretty fun.
Maybe so but here it just feels wrong. To emphasize a time period as they did in "Being Erica" it is great. But for Transformers it has to to be heavy metal (or at least rock music).
The Sonic and Tails thing does come back! The little brother ends up calling Mirage Knuckles when they have the walkie talkie convos! I thought that was a cute detail but it was just in the one scene so totally understand it was easy to miss.
This was the best TF aside from the first one and Bbee. It felt like a high budget Saturday morning cartoon. Also got “avengers vs thanos” feels. Great review Thew!
I don't mind that Wheeljack has an accent or is a VW Bus, but as a Latino, that "Racist Hermano" joke did not land whatsoever, and my dad rolled his eyes so hard at that scene lol. Also, honestly I dont hate the robot design, if they just instead made him a nice darkish green, and then have his tradional coil face with the glowing ears be for his battlemask, like Prime and Bumblebee have.
Haven't seen it yet, but Thew's enthusiasm during this review makes me more excited to. That and finally a Transformers movie that actually focuses primarily on the Transformers.
I was born in 04. I grew up with Bayverse. Growing up, I realized that the movies weren't great. However, hearing Arrival to Earth while seeing Noah face the odds, pulling for dear life to save Optimus, and Primal AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA I CAN'T KEEP BEING PRETENTIOUS, I CRIEEEEDDD MY CHILDHOOD AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Ok as far as Noah goes Military part explains why he didn’t just back down to mirage, and set up that he actually knows how to fight so the exo suit wouldn’t be bs, also why he willingly decides to fight when he sees how big this really is The tech part He makes tech for the poor He fixed mirage He made the walk-in talkie him and Kris use I’d recommend watching again
Yeah, these films are reboots. The director has confrmed it multiple times. This film is way different from The 2022 version but hopefully a director cut comes out. The director also said that he wants to being in Megatron for the next movie. In his g1 form. (Rotb Megatron box art)
It's probably just me... but Scourge's face reveal, kinda reminded me of Tarn... how he wears a mask, representing his affiliation (a terrorcon version) and how underneath that mask is a scarred up face... anyone else think that?
I really like how Scourge was a nobody under the mask. I know there was probably more to it but in the context of a film aimed at kids, it read to me as your bullies are just people under the mask, they aren't anyone who's got any special powers or destiny, they're just someone like you who hurts people to feel better. And I really liked that. (Idk this is probably me trying to pull something deep out of the film. I did like the kick though, clever way to escape a death grip on Mirage's part)
If we look at Bumblebee as G1 (80's) Rise of the Beasts as Beast Wars (90's) then my guess is the next mainline film will be Armada themed, set in 2003 and heavily feature minicons, we shall see how wrong I am 😅
I personally enjoyed the film, it's not a 10/10 cinematic masterpiece, you can probably pick apart plot and character and whatever, but who cares? I came to see transformers, and I got exactly that. Fun characters, big action, and some feels sprinkled in. Giving Scourge a big role as villain was a great idea. I love how these new movies are giving new villains before the inevitable Megatron appearance as the big bad. Overall, I'm liking the new direction and I really hope they keep going with this.
It was pretty good, wasn't Bumblebee great, but it was definitely a good showing. I think if it had a maybe 20-30 more minutes to flesh itself out and establish the new universe, it would of been WAY better, solid 6.5/10. Holy fuck mirage is amazing, I genuinely thought I wasn't going to like him but he actually made me full on laugh multiple times in the theatre. Also the Marky mark thing was golden. My personal list goes as such 1. DOTM 2. Bumblebee 3. 07 4. ROTB 5. AOE 6. ROFT 7. TLK
I think that we have seen a lot of military in the movies, it makes sense to make them GI Joe. I think it's a great idea and I'm excited to see the direction this franchise is going with them potentially being them. This is by far my favorite transformers live action movie. Very closely followed by the first one.
I’m glad people are getting the garbage truck. It’s hologram shenanigans. Lol. And it was wonderful to have bumblebee get sidelined for an EPIC respawn jump(ala Fortnite) and his design was BEAUTIFUL!!!!!! I did a livestream with some of the other guys in the YT sphere and we also looked at the laser scene like TF?
Why don't I see anyone comparing Noah's Exo Suit to the Delta Acceleration suits from first G.I.Joe live action movie (rise of Cobra) ... they look so similar. Am i the only one who sees it?
My fave scene was where Battletrap vs asked for a real fight then primal just hits him with a rock and prime was like. He was mine. Also was hoping nest was the ending too
In Transformers terms, it's pretty watchable since they treat the robots as characters rather than props for the most part, plus Noah's motivations as a character hold some decent weight which kept me somewhat invested. A noticeable step up from the Bay films (and even Bumblebee, which I found an underwhelming riff on movies such as The Iron Giant) in my opinion. Judging it from a more general perspective, I do find it to end up being Just Another Summer Action Blockbuster when compared to say, Across the Spider-Verse. It's not doing anything especially adventurous or bold to really leave an impression on me plot wise, although they usually tend to nail the special effects for these films so there's that. Therefore, I feel confident to give it a 5/10. The tie in toys are good at least, and that's what the Transformers brand was founded on so I can't fault that really.
This movie was really good but not great...It would have really benefited from not having a Gi joe ending tease and some certain bits of dialogue but other then that I want more Transfomers movie's like this one
Ya, you pretty much summed up my feelings for ROTB. Could've had more scenes like Elena needing some reassurance to go with the team, Mirage being a heart of gold dickhead (to which I'm actually ok with his characterization, as we all know, most TFs don't really have a personality), Terrorcons being badasses (especially Battletrap who says nothing and fucks shit up), and actually focusing more on the TFs than the humans. Even when compared to BB, another good TF live action. Overall, a good TF movie. Can't wait for what the sequel brings. And Christ, I can't believe GI Joe is getting tied to this reboot. I really wished they hadn't.
i feel like the reason that Transit was cut, was to like, "buildup" to Prime being kinda moody and then also have somewhat of an "arc," like the director was talking about. I don't mind "moody" OP because that's kinda what I like in a hero and I'm also happy they didn't go totally into Bayverse - they just left some parts and pieces in there, esp the end where he does a Mortal Kombat-style "fatality" on Scourge.
I accidentally made the theater crack up at Bumblebee's death Bumblebee: *dies* Prime: "this cannot bee" me whispering to friend: ".....was that a pun?" like four guys near me *uproarious laughter*
There was also a clip during Prime’s fight with Scourge where he rears his head when pushing the dude into the lava fall. I took that as Prime isn’t the blood thirsty killer of the Bay-verse. Only getting to that point when pushed to the absolute brink.
The point of Scourge losing his mask was a clever little visual hint that this previously unstoppable force of nature that had handily defeated Optimus Freakin Prime in a 1-on-1 earlier was finally made vulnerable, mortal, defeatable. That was the moment that a ray of hope for our heroes shone through.
I feel like a good explanation to come qith the fact that Optimus is so Brutal in Dark of the moon is not only because of the deaths of Ironhide and other bots, but also the deaths of so many civilians that were killed by the decepticons from the Seige of Chicago
14:20 I read that in an earlier cut it clarified that he was using his hologram abilities, at least with the dump truck, I'm not sure about the other cars he turned into tho
Yeah I really enjoyed it. It’s my favorite theater experience I’ve ever had. Just making a lot of memories y’know? It’s just nice to see a transformers movie I feel genuinely attached to outside of “I saw it when I was 6” like the bay movies. ROTB is just a good film, and I love it.
Well, I just got back from seeing this today, and I have three thoughts: 1) The Roche Limit is a thing, so regardless of Unicron eating the Earth, the planet would be severely damaged in all sorts of exciting ways and give everybody on it a terminally bad day. 2) Did anyone else notice that bit just before Unicron enters Earth orbit, and you can see Arcee in the background? She's aiming her guns and doing the waggly-shoulders-recoil-shooty-action... But no lasers come out. 3) Also that bit where Mirage is too short to peer into a first floor window from the alleyway floor, so stands on a parked car to see over the fire escape, then 30 seconds later he is tall enough to stand beside the car and look down on the guys to have a discussion. 4) - Bonus thought - It was really good to have a summer blockbuster where the main (human) guy isn't a white Jesus Saviour of the world trope. 5) - Bonus, bonus thought - We're an above-top-secret government organisation dedicated to blah, blah, blah... Here's a business card with our name on it.
Definitely had fun with the movie!! And yea… I agree with the GIJoe thing… it’s gonna be almost impossible to incorporate without drowning the transformers. Definitely the most fun I’ve had with transformers on the big screen! I’d say even more than bumblebee!
I disagree, but that's because I figure they're going to try and cram a human faction in there somewhere like they did with NEST/Sector 7, so why NOT use another Hasbro Brandname?
If they can use Transformers in a G I Joe movie, it could be good. They would have to take some notes from the MCU, and make Transformers like Iron Man 2 (post Avengers) where we know the Joes are there, but the transformers don't go to them for help. And Captain America in Winter Soldier doesn't go to Tony Stark for a Maguffin fix They both handled their own stories and worked together in a big cross-over. It's got potential, if they can do it right
i think the alt mode shifting was a completely unique mirage power, we dont see anyone else do it and the terrorcons still scan alt modes if im remembering correctly
The soundtrack had a motherfuckin tribe called quest on that hoe, it was awesome. Also it’s a reboot my friend :). Also also battletrap for sure did get named dropped one time in the film I don’t know who started this “no name” but scourge for sure did say “battle trap go do thing” or something
G. I. Joe had cross overs with Transformers... in the Marvel comic books. So it's not unheard of. Dumb, but not unheard of. I don't know. If they made a G. I. Joe that was unapologetically colorful. Like, if I see two characters wearing the same gray jumper, I'm out. I want shirtless martial artists and cowboys and faceless ninjas fighting side by side in ridiculously designed toyatic tanks. Then maybe, MAYBE, it'd be okay.
I’m gonna throw in some of my own personal opinions on the movie, feel free to disagree with them my fellow TF fans, I’m bouta say a few, probably controversial, things… It’s was alright, I still like TF07 and BBM significantly more, I think my only real gripes with it was the CGI, which too often didn’t look nearly as good as TF07 (I’m sure that’s because of the loss of ILM), some of the designs (which I kinda knew I wouldn’t like from the trailers) and some of the voice acting was also kinda rough, mainly Mirage and most upsettingly Optimus, I didn’t think Peter Cullen could disappoint and maybe it’s just me but I was kinda disappointed… Worst of all, Nightbird’s complete under use. I was really excited to see her in the movie and 99% of her screen time was her buzzing across the screen for a half a second. On the up side, Scourge is top tier, probably my favorite live action baddie after Shatter and Dropkick. Unicron looked amazing, kinda wished he got a chance to transform but who knows what the future holds. The script was overall pretty solid I think. Also I felt like Arcee was a lil underused, for the second live action movie with main cast fembots, beside Airazor they really did them dirty. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I like Optimus Primal and Airazor tho, I’ve never cared for Beast Wars so that was pretty exciting, also kinda mad that Rhinox and Cheetor got sidelined into oblivion. I did have a good laugh when it came to the Freezers, I took my mom to go see it (after having her watch all of the other live action TF movies) and every time they were doing their thing she was scared. For someone who kinda likes horror movies, unlike myself, it was sorta surprising. I guess I have a pretty decent amount of problems with this movie. I’d say if I had to rank it among the other live action movies it’d probably take 4th place, after BBM, TF07 and RotF but before AoE, DotM and and TLK.
Rise of the Beasts sure is awesome summer film that's belated tribute to BW anniversary from few years back. And I'll say, this folds in with BB as reboot to Cinematic TF series And considering that before this; we get to know that after this there be two more which gives more reason Unicron to be pushed back or as Primal put it; trapped in corner of the galaxy so it's gonna take long time for him to make arrival to Earth. Personalty; I would like prequel film before events of ROTB about Maximals time on Earth (which would allow us to see/know that were there more Maximals with Optimus Primal since Airrazor stated she was last one of her group) or set in they homeworld before Unicron's arrival. But we'll wait and see what future holds for this.
Me and my Daughter saw it on Saturday (she's 6) Missed a couple of parts due to her having to go to the bathroom but all in all pretty good movie NEWS ALERT!!! It's Coming out on DVD, BLU-RAY and streaming on Wednesday! YES!
17:56 100% DISAGREE. Que in DOTM at least FELT like a scientist, gave Sam the grapple hook that led to Starscream's death, AND his Death scene was really sad. I felt NOTHING for Pablo in this film.
I liked that Scourge was just this tough guy that was just straight too tough for Prime to handle. Optimus just gets his butt handed to him, a few times even, and that just isn't something that had happened in the Bay movies Also the Beast Wars stuff just casually dropping stuff in like "We're from the future" and not elaborating is great. It makes sense to us Beast Wars fans but I'm sure a good number of movie goers were confused.
For the Sonic and Tails codenames, it's a blink it and you'll miss it moment, but the little brother does call Mirage Knuckles when he's checking on them in the final fight.
I would love if wheeljack showed up in every future movie but with a different accent and a different design each time. I just think it would be really funny
Ok this would be funny
Give him a vampire accent next time and run with it
I would absolutely admire them if they kept up that running gag
Honestly that be a good gag for the movies
Next movie have Bronson Pinchot do the voice like Balki from Perfect Strangers.
Regarding Scourge's mask, a list of cut content from the movie has been released and there was supposed to be a scene explaining Scourge's backstory and how he became a herald of Unicron. Most likely the mask coming off was supposed to be a callback to that. I'm hoping we'll get a director's cut with all that stuff added back in (except Wheeljack's sex jokes, I don't want to see that)
With Unicron not being Earth in this movie and the mention of Mark Wahlberg, it feels like Caple Jr is trying to scream at us that the Bumblebee movie was a reboot but that one producer is holding a gun to his head so he can't outright say it.
he outright said it in a interview, both him and hasbro have said bumblebee and this movie are part of a soft reboot the producer is just a dumbass who thinks because its bumblebee and optimus its part of the same universe
Wait what? Wheel jack sex jokes?
I think they're going more for an X-men Days of Future Past set up personally, we reached a point in the originals where the writers wrote themselves into a wall (Just like X3) so we go back, redo history and then have the two points meet up, have a big ruck and set out on a new altered timeline where the Bay movies never happen, they're even following the X films decade jumping shtick too.
That makes sense. It REALLY feels, with the mention that he's the last survivor of his planet and the mask reveal, like there's something more going on with Scourge than we got to see, and I wanna know what!

Arcee and Wheeljack admittedly don't do _much,_ but
They DID have a cut romance arc/dynamic thing which would've absolutely cinched their presence in this movie
Like Transit, it was unfortunately cut from the final movie, but
_aaaaa_ man, why can't we just GET giant robots doing shit like being dorks and being into each other
Also Wheeljack was apparently also supposed to offer Optimus his glasses while they were surveying Peru and before Noah and Elena infiltrate the parade, which would have been _hilarious_
Ironically, in Beast Wars, the war between the Maximals and Predacons did result in the proto humans slowly evolving further
Lovely cast
Except Noah was kind of mid and Elena was only there for the plot to progress
@@lonewolf9578 Noah was a pretty good character, TF human characters seem to work best when they are a part of the military. He had an entire arc of setting aside his selfishness to save the world and had an interesting story with his brother.
@@HenryLouis21 They introduce him being a former member of the military and then do nothing with it
And then there’s Elena who not only was only there for the plot but her actresses performance was terrible
@@lonewolf9578 He has military training and was a techie in the military, a skill which he used to make a living in New York. Hell, it actually paid off when he finally joined G.I. Joe so I say it went somewhere. Also, the actress for Elena was pretty descent and her performance was pretty good.
@@HenryLouis21 he literally does nothing with his military skills past his introduction when he works in the tv thing and then when he goes for the job interview
And Elena’s acting and performance was terrible and felt unenthusiastic and wooden.
@@symbiote1982pkDefinitely your take was better.
My head canon is that "Weeljack" is the "Brian" or "Chris" of robot names.
The GI Joe thing was brilliant because instead of generic military guys you can have actual beloved characters supporting the transformers
Its a reboot, the director said it in a recent interview. Everytime lorezno tries to say otherwise, the director rolls his eyes
A lot of Energon vibes:
Pink Motorcycle Arcee
Maximals show up
Terrorcons are the minions of Unicron
Mirage's V-Modes: Bro stockpiled ones, and the Dump Truck? He took the backend of another one, and became just the cab.
I loved Optimus’ mouth and nose. They hyper-accentuated how grumpy and depressed he was, and thank GOD Optimus Prime is finally allowed to have emotions after 36 years
I guess that's how you know some boomer hasn't watched TF related media since G1.
@@_V.Va_ really? xD
My head canon for Scoruge's mask is that when Scourge gave himself up to Unicron, he tore off his face and branded him with his own insignia.
I think the idea with Mirage's multiple alt-modes is that he's a shifter, like Amalgamous Prime and Makeshift.
I know they've had several crossovers in comic books, but some of those were their own continuities, and maybe that's just easier?
What this has over the Bayformer movies is a massive amount of heart and soul, and I love that about it. Yes it’s a pew pew action movie but it feels human
Disagree about that, I still feel heart and soul in those first 3 movies. At least when it came to the animation of the Transformers themselves.
I genuinely thought it was going to be M.A.S.K. at the end, the organization having recovered the wreckage and bodies from Peru and using them as a basis for the transforming vehicles.
M.A.S.K. is a Kenner property Transformers and GI Joe are both Hasbro. A Kenner team-up would be M.A.S.K. and Care Bears.
@@hirozhen7475But since Tonka bought Kenner and Hasbro bought Tonka long ago, that's not really a problem.
Got to agree with you on this: It's good to have Transformers back in the summer again! And this was a good film, as you said too. Not perfect; but not the Bayverse mind-numbing dribble either (Transformers creating everything, for example).
you just know they would've been behind the great wall of china if the bay movies continued
28:19 argree that Transfomers doesnt need GiJoe, but the ending felt more like GiJoe needs Transformers in order to get SOME box office success. Time, and a decent script, will tell.
I took Mirage as being a "shifter," a special kind of Cybertronian with hyper-transformation powers. Frenzy in the first movie did similar things.
Frenzy only transformed twice.
I think Wheeljacks design is the most controversial due to being the least G1 inspired of everyone, I still like it tho, and I love Stratosphere with all my being despite just being the Astrotrain of the Autobots
so funny thing about the Optimus face, in this film they designed it to look like Peter Cullen himself
Probably the best Transformers movie in my opinion
Also... if they MUST have military in the movies like in the previous ones... why not make them GIJoe?
For me, I think it's arguably one of the worst. Better than AOE and TLK, but not better than those first 3 films, I'm sorry bro. Especially when Prime was so damn WEAK in this film.
@@kennythetrend3688 It’s okay, everyone has their tastes and preferences. I don’t think Prime is weak at all, he’s as overpowered as in every movie, getting most of the kills, most of the battles and making all the other bots almost redundant, like in the other movies…
I loved stratosphere
He's like Scatman John but robot
Kinda wished he also started kicking ass alongside Bee when he came in to drop him
I'm wondering if Stratosphere's whole deal is that he's just too old to be a fighter in any capacity? I think that would be interesting.
Calling the F-1 racer a Combiner Wars moment.
G1 Mirage: "Am I a joke to you?"
I like to think Unicron was using his power from across the universe to copy the blueprints from the planet he consumed to generate it remotely.
Prime's a straight-up reincarnation of his first self(Has to learn how to extend olive branches), Mirage is Amalgamous (Always changing shapes), Arcee is either Solus or Alchemist (Fits her whole "Energon era motorcycle" look as a foreman for a mining operation), Wheeljack is Quintus (Strong appreciation for life in all forms), Boss Monkey is Onyx (Deeply spiritual and understands the flow of nature), Stratosphere is Vector(Energon exposure at the end of the film causes his body to effectively de-age a few hundred years) and Bumblebee is Prima (Bringer of hope for a brighter tomorrow)
I'm also glad that most of the cybertronians that die get a bit of pathos attached to them, even Scourge to an extent since Optimus looks more disgusted with himself than happy, as if he realized this isn't who he wants to be and what he could be if he just stopped caring about things other than his own wants and desires. Airazor NOT exploding or falling to bits was a welcome surprise and it made Primal's whole euthanasia bear-hug feel haunting. It's kind of wild that he didn't get the kill on Scourge, but I'm also kind of refreshed by it since it implies he's already learned to cope with losing people close to him (And probably blew off the excess steam by reducing Battletrap into something resembling a pile of thoroughly-ignored road signs.)
I think the mask-off moment for Scourge was meant to be some big hint that he has been through the goddamn WRINGER to get where he is now, and whatever did that to him is the only other time he knew shame until losing the Transwarp key.
I happened to notice the detail of Arcee dropping an F-bomb. I found it pretty funny.
I just saw the movie tonight, when did she do that?
"Jem and the Holograms, THEN we'll talk."
...and now the theme song is in my head. Thank you.
Two things I'd like to mention:
1.) Mirage's personality screamed out to me 'I'm G1 Hot Rod', but his abilities were definitely Mirage.
Hip Hop being the main music choice makes sense, it dropped in the 80s and gained momentum, by 94 it was definitely the most popular music form.
Enthewsiasm
Not really. It takes a HOUR before the Maximals show up and Rhinox never even speaks!
From what I was told the movie was cut down to the bone. Not only was time between action scenes removed, but action scenes were removed as well.
Ok as far as Noah goes
Military part explains why he didn’t just back down to mirage, and set up that he actually knows how to fight so the exo suit wouldn’t be bs, also why he willingly decides to fight when he sees how big this really is
The tech part
He makes tech for the poor
He fixed mirage
He made the walk-in talkie him and Kris use
I’d recommend watching again
Yeah, these films are reboots. The director has confrmed it multiple times. This film is way different from The 2022 version but hopefully a director cut comes out. The director also said that he wants to being in Megatron for the next movie. In his g1 form. (Rotb Megatron box art)
Man, I would love it if Wheeljack was called Tow-Line, it would be a great reference to the Energon line
But still, it was a great movie.
That or downshift it would be cool
it comes after bumblebee. optimus even mentioned how bumblebee had a good experience with one human, referencing charlie.
Imagine trying to explain Angolmois Energy to lorenzo dibonaventura
It's probably just me... but Scourge's face reveal, kinda reminded me of Tarn... how he wears a mask, representing his affiliation (a terrorcon version) and how underneath that mask is a scarred up face... anyone else think that?
yeah, alot of people are saying that
I really like how Scourge was a nobody under the mask.
My personal list goes as such
1. DOTM
2. Bumblebee
3. 07
4. ROTB
5. AOE
6. ROFT
7. TLK
So glad you also liked it, Thew. It was great! Got that Optimus truck popcorn bucket I liked it so much
I think that we have seen a lot of military in the movies, it makes sense to make them GI Joe. I think it's a great idea and I'm excited to see the direction this franchise is going with them potentially being them. This is by far my favorite transformers live action movie. Very closely followed by the first one.
I promise you it would’ve made a bit more sense if Wheeljack was Beachcomber especially since he’s talking nature wen he first shows up on screen
Tbh I hated how bumblebee was killed only to be revived later. Same as mirage. Its like they're too afraid to kill off characters.
Fact: Arcee and Wheeljack were meant to have ALOT more scenes but it would be focusing on an ongoing romance between them and was ultimately cut
Also ROTB is 100% a reboot 07 to TLK isnt cannon to ROTB but the bumblebee movie is
Why don't I see anyone comparing Noah's Exo Suit to the Delta Acceleration suits from first G.I.Joe live action movie (rise of Cobra) ... they look so similar.
As much as I love Transformers- to compare Bumblebee with the Iron Giant is an insult to the latter imho.
They need to get away from that Infiniti War and End Game style third act. Things need to be scaled down.
"All of our dads die, that isn't a personality." Thanks for that.
It really did Beast Wars dirty.
I'm pretty sure this is a reboot yeah. Like I think they mentioned it being part of a new storytelling universe.
I will say, I did like it that the plaque that opened the GIJoe door said “Real Hero Award”, in reference to ‘G.I.Joe: Real American Heroes’
I thought it was pretty decent
Didn't give me the same feels as Bumblebee, but as its own thing. It's pretty gud
I absolutely loved Scourge
also Noah and Mirage "fused" together like a Dragon Ball character granted Mirage became a suit of armor for Noah.
I am very disappointed we didn't get Bus.
OP was in the bus yard
But I guess a kill so early would feel like Bay Prime.
i feel like the reason that Transit was cut, was to like, "buildup" to Prime being kinda moody and then also have somewhat of an "arc," like the director was talking about. I don't mind "moody" OP because that's kinda what I like in a hero and I'm also happy they didn't go totally into Bayverse - they just left some parts and pieces in there, esp the end where he does a Mortal Kombat-style "fatality" on Scourge.
@@fduranthesee Well, we're getting Bus. And he's a lot less Bay Brutal with insta kill, and he has a goal other than kill
I accidentally made the theater crack up at Bumblebee's death
Bumblebee: *dies*
Prime: "this cannot bee"
me whispering to friend: ".....was that a pun?"
like four guys near me *uproarious laughter*
There was also a clip during Prime’s fight with Scourge where he rears his head when pushing the dude into the lava fall. I took that as Prime isn’t the blood thirsty killer of the Bay-verse. Only getting to that point when pushed to the absolute brink.
I thought the end was going to be Nest too. Sadly it was gi joe
This is gonna be fun, i can feel it.
Well, I just got back from seeing this today, and I have three thoughts:
1) The Roche Limit is a thing, so regardless of Unicron eating the Earth, the planet would be severely damaged in all sorts of exciting ways and give everybody on it a terminally bad day.
I’m so happy I loved this movie because I was so scared mate
It's literally taken me almost a year to find your channel again, glad I'm here once more, got a whole backlog to go through 😅
I cannot believe Thew just name dropped Angolmois energy.
It’s better than most of the Bayverse films and I’m honestly fine with that. This reboot is refreshing.
18:57 will always go down as my biggest letdown ever. Just an apparently intelligent submarine letting itself get bopped around by two angry dudes
I loved that prime was just the perfect omount of violence
So the spider-droid mooks that scourge has around are apparently this movie's version of Scourge's Sweeps.
I’m gonna throw in some of my own personal opinions on the movie, feel free to disagree with them my fellow TF fans, I’m bouta say a few, probably controversial, things…
It’s was alright, I still like TF07 and BBM significantly more, I think my only real gripes with it was the CGI, which too often didn’t look nearly as good as TF07 (I’m sure that’s because of the loss of ILM), some of the designs (which I kinda knew I wouldn’t like from the trailers) and some of the voice acting was also kinda rough, mainly Mirage and most upsettingly Optimus, I didn’t think Peter Cullen could disappoint and maybe it’s just me but I was kinda disappointed… Worst of all, Nightbird’s complete under use.
And I'll say, this folds in with BB as reboot to Cinematic TF series
And considering that before this; we get to know that after this there be two more which gives more reason Unicron to be pushed back or as Primal put it; trapped in corner of the galaxy so it's gonna take long time for him to make arrival to Earth.
Me and my Daughter saw it on Saturday (she's 6)
Missed a couple of parts due to her having to go to the bathroom but all in all pretty good movie
NEWS ALERT!!!
Optimus just gets his butt handed to him, a few times even, and that just isn't something that had happened in the Bay movies
Also the Beast Wars stuff just casually dropping stuff in like "We're from the future" and not elaborating is great. It makes sense to us Beast Wars fans but I'm sure a good number of movie goers were confused.
