These videos are so important Graeme. I wouldn't have had any idea how to not only catch Squid, but how to clean and cook them! And where to catch them. I have little chance of ever doing this myself. But I know if I ever got the chance, then I can rewatch your videos and learn how to. Many thanks for All your time, and your family for enabling Me to become educated in so many fishing techniques. Really Greatful. Thank you!
My family (and others as well) eat the tentacles too! Yummy fried. Sometimes I stuff the Calamari (squid) bodies and cook in my sauce, sometimes I slice the body into rings and toss them and the tentacles into my sauce....wow, it gives it a great flavor.
Tip. When I'm squidd fishing and have hooked up. The squidd tend to shoot their ink bag. The ink you say to wash out of your squidd baits always attracts the snipe. Also a great sport and top quality big fish bait for the bucket.
They seem to like spring or big tides, moonlight, high tide coinciding with few hours of darkness,no wind, clear still water..but I'm no expert for sure ,but those are the conditions I would be trying myself. Don't know the Lyme Bay area, but I was in Torquay 2 days ago and heard they were getting them off the pier there as it has the eelgrass beds they seem to like. I also heard that boat anglers get them in daytime.
@@TAFishing thanks, Torquay is a bit closer and know of a few eel grass beds just north of Torquay. I see squid when shore diving but usually out of casting range and in low numbers at Budleigh.
hi Graeme just a quick question witch is the closest car park to the pier please and please keep your vids going I love watching them each week thanks jeff
In our area people will bring full sized car battery’s or gas operated generators to hook up BIG floodlights to shine in the water for squid jigging. Squidding is a big thing in our area and people can be very intense about it lol
Top video I love the way how you fish. and you are very funny. I think you are the best. I live in Oxford. I love squid fishing but I don't now where to go. Please where is this place. Thank you so much.
Very understanding wife allowing you to clean the squid in the kitchen sink. There is a tool in Australia called the SquidEzy that makes cleaning squid just as the name says easy. Just do a youtube search there are videos showing how easy and quick it makes it. I use them myself.
the ink makes a wonderful dark musky flavour in some continental dishes and can be bought for the kitchen in sachets, why not collect all that lovely ink?
I think it might be a water clarity thing...Dorset on south coast, all along Cornwall, over to Ireland on South and West coasts...I may be wrong, but I think the North Sea might have too much coloured water ?? Possibly someone else may know.
@@TAFishing yes I was thinking that, we do get periods of clear water but mostly it's grey soup. Always worth a shot though I guess, thanks for the answer though.
Another great video Graeme 👍 you are a legend, I would love to spend time with you, fishing & learning from you. I think you have forgotten more than I know all together, 🦈TA fishing🦈 is awesome. Just like 🌲TA outdoors 🌲 Thank you so much for the video's
Great minds think alike, I have been using glow in the dark paint on my rods for a while now, so much easier that struggling with a torch or battery light when fishing at night. No dazzle from a beam or anything like that, just easy viewing and as shown on here, a cheap China UV torch to charge them up as and when needed.
I'm off to Bournemouth on Friday, im hoping to target the Squid off the pier, does anyone know if it will be worth traveling from North Wales, its 6 hours away driving for me. Cheere
how much for the regular squid jigs ? their $1.00 each at Walmarts. the the swimming type are $5.00 each for the better ones. costs a lot to go fishing in the UK? Do you need a license to fish saltwater ? some states make you buy license in the US for a few bucks. nice video :)
Great price at Walmarts, but I guess they are not the same jigs as here.At present we have no saltwater license. If we had one I imagine the fishing would still not improve ,and the cash used for admin. At least in the States you can see the cash goes towards policing and improving stocks for future anglers.
Never heard of that...I always thought the squid ejected it as a deterrent to predators trying to attack them,so I imagined it can't taste very nice either.
@@TAFishing it has sort of a brine/fishy/earthy taste, you wouldn't want to drink a pint of the stuff but it's not horrible and is used in cooking, meant as a smoke screen rather than a chemical deterent. Good for darkening groundbait down and giving it a salty, fishy kick
Double Episode Week! 🤘🏻🎣
Only Graeme Pullen could serve Squid with curly fries! Jamie Oliver, watch your back 😂
👍🏻👍🏻
Why don't you ever take her ladyship with you?
Could you tell me how you kill squid b4 taking home?
Also how to store b4 taking home?
Thanks Graeme
Up"s, my question answered after 18 mins.
Cheers
Curly fries and squid rings, pullen you genius.

Very good eating. My wife is from South Korea, so we eat a lot of squid, octopus, and fish. Yummy for the Tummy.

Is it worth traveling to try in the daytime? What tides are best? Is there anywhere further west in Lyme bay?

Dorset, but anywhere in Devon and Cornwall where the water is clear should be worth a guy. Check with a local tackle shop.
like those popping sounds
Good game ! Good game! Bruce Forsyth`s double .
Where abouts in Portsmouth would you target squid. I know you said the harbour but fishing from where within it

Hi, thank you for the video. Where is this pier?

Brilliant never seen squids caught like that before, l got to have a go. Thanks brilliant as always these vids
Great vid Graeme! How long do you cook them for so that they are not tough and chewy? They look fantastic!
The small squid heads taste the best!! 😉
the ink makes a wonderful dark musky flavour in some continental dishes and can be bought for the kitchen in sachets, why not collect all that lovely ink?
what rod was the guy using
Nice one
Graeme can they be caught Rd most of the East coast too or mainly south?

Do they sell the catch at the fish shops in the morning boys do u know or do they eat them selfs or use for bait thanks a hard core taf fan 👌
Hi Graham, loved this vid. Is this just a south coast thing. I'm in the Moray Fifth area, are they here too?
oh man now i REALLY want to go out and do some squid fishing!
Great job as always 🎣
Full moon because it's when it's at it's brightest shining the rig / scales of fish
looking at the Yamashita jigs online, soooo many.. can you link to the ones you use or recommend for shore. cheers
Warm jacket
Where were u fishing and what time and what month was it
I think it was December, and I was fishing off a pier.
Great stuff. Can't wait for our next visit to Dorset ;)
thanks
Lovely shimano rods them,nice squid
I'm off to Bournemouth on Friday, im hoping to target the Squid off the pier, does anyone know if it will be worth traveling from North Wales, its 6 hours away driving for me. Cheere
let me know how it was 😂
You can buy squid lures in sets of four it may be worth making a paternoster type rig with three or more in tandem.
That's how they fish vertically for squid when boat fishing. Never tried it off the shore myself.

@@TAFishing , thanks. good channel.
Nice catch, me and wifey went down there 2 weeks ago but they hadn’t arrived , we are back down there in 3 weeks so fingers crossed 👍🏻
So amazing and delicious squid 🦑 my dear friend 😘
Sir what attracts scent do you use for your bait?
I don't use any for squid ,just the lure itself seems enough, but I guess you could use whatever you wanted .
@@TAFishing thanks sir more power and happy fishing
can squid be caught from the beach?
I have heard that but usually it needs to be a deep water beach. More common when fishing from a pier or rocks into deep water.
Try to fry the squid after putting its in a mix of flour and egg(in italy we call it pastella). They will be even more delicious
Squid ink is supposed to be quite a good additive to groundbait, might be worth putting some in a bottle and chucking it in the freezer for future use
Never heard of that...I always thought the squid ejected it as a deterrent to predators trying to attack them,so I imagined it can't taste very nice either.

@@TAFishing Squid ink is one of the tastiest if done right. We stir fry the squid with ink or do cook an adobo squid.
great video as always need to give this a try
Awesome video😄 & 👍 Awesome food 😋😋
Hey TAFISHING I want to say happy Halloween and stay safe for Halloween & also catch some more big fish stay safe out there :-) !!
What do you do with the backbone?
Any good spots in North Cornwall or anywhere in Cornwall for that matter to catch these little beauties? Loving the work chaps!
I just had a thought, when you said the squid are on the feed at full moon. Could it be possible that some sort of water daphnia are migrating.?
I think all baitfish are more active then, and I know Tuna fishing is good over full moon as they also feed on the squid.
Mrs Pullen. All because a lady loves fresh squid. 😉
can you fish for squid or year round
Where is this? Also do you need anything more than a normal rod licence?
You don't need a rod license to sea fish, any fish you catch in salt water is exempt from licensing
Catch and cook with Gram!
