TA Outdoors i know the team TAF is just the two of you and as a team i realy mean father son dynamic,Awesome duo which you are.i get so much enjoyment watching you both and like 1000s out there i hope you keep on going with the info and laughs etc..youre great guys im so glad ive found the channel.thankyou
You have the best fishing channel in my opinion. No commercials and 100k+ gear, just everything down to earth that a man of any working class could do and enjoy regardless of a budget. Greetings from Croatia/Sweden. Hope you get many more healthy years and provide a lot more improvised and normal fishing videos. Thank you.
Thanks Graeme, excellent video for us novices. I have never been sea/pier fishing but I have been inspired by this. From tackle to frying pan - great video! My missus was fascinated by it too and actually stopped what she was doing to watch.
Great stuff. I've seen people catch squid like that at sea, but never from a pier. The color change at 31:20 was astounding! Love the way the TA Fishing catches provide a direct link to TA Outdoors. I'm about to check out your pallet cabin videos now!
Steve seems like a real decent guy, and obviously incredibly knowledgeable as well. I don't have much knowledge of sea fishing but watching these vids and especially the ones Steve's been in I think I have learnt a few things, I might not have the tackle but I can rig up something similar from my coarse gear when on holidays thanks to you guys!
great video by graeme.....all your videos are really good and its nice to see you eating some of what you catch on your videos .....and that tiger trout looked great at the campfire.....keep up the great work...been a few years since I took the time to fish...love to crappie fish here in florida at night from a boat.....and bass fishing in the day is also pretty good....that is fresh water fishing..have never really cared for salt water fishing but you make it look great....thanks again for all your time in keeping me entertained.....I also watch taoutdoors and they are good also but you really know fishing......and loved the cabin for one....you and your son work really well together......
Graeme, as a rule of thumb, I always cut off the bottom 1 - 2 cms, to take out the hard piece at the bottom, it is tough .... no need to spoil the rest of a great meal !!! Well done ... those squid that you caught are belonging to the "Arrow" Family, as here in Sth Australia, we catch "Southern Calamari" ... The difference being, is the wings go all the way down the sides of the squid .... as opposed to only 1/2 way down like yours Bon Aperitif' Cheers "Down Under Mike"
I've just watched your new video on squid in November 2018 so I've come back to watch this one & I can't believe how much you know Graeme (I know nothing about fishing & I wish I did) I wish I knew half as much as you. The video's you & Mick make are awsome, I just sit here in an evening now eather watching 🌲TA outdoors🌲 or 🦈TA fishing🦈 thank you so much 👍
Yesss!!! Thank god for fridays sea fishing videos. Love all your vids but not big on coarse fishing. Amazing to see them squid being caught in the harbour during daylight. I always thought they were night predators. 🖒Love your work. Thank you
When I lived in Key West Florida, squid were a nuisance. They would swarm anything in the water, either bait or caught fish. You could catch them, but after 2 or 3, the shoal would wise up and stand off. They might rush in and look at a bait, feeling it with their tentacles - but they would not take it. Only after a rest would they come back in to the hook. A couple more caught, and they went aloof again. They were quite fascinating, intelligent creatures and I came to think of them as pesky little puppies. To this day, I can’t see people taking squid and not feel a pang of regret for them.
Great video Graeme! Lots of tips and advice for anglers who might try their hand at a bit of squidding. Keep up the great work and of course the best videos on you tube!! I cant believe you havent been offered a show on tv yet??? You and Mike would be a sensation. Brendan from Bishops Stortford.
He did well on his cleaning and cutting section, nice one dude, if I come to Weymouth, I'll pop in and buy something. Great video, I'm guessing Graham doesn't do the music.
Great video, very big squid. Had now idea you get them in England from the shore! Personally I think the tastiest way to prepare them is bbc the whole mantle and the head very quickly on a very hot grill, just marinate them with olive oil and oregano, salt only when done. Also it's worth cleaning them with seawater only, no freshwater - even more important if you keep them for bait!
I was there last week fishing next to him and watch him pull a monster squid up !! I caught 8 squid 2 big once and small once taste much better meat is a lot softer to eat mind need drop net and a rectle jig give more signals out and at that pier
Thank you for the great video Graeme. I've been interested in this type of fishing for a while. Now have the confidence to give it a go. In Kent I'm expecting mostly cuttlefish. Great channel.
Reminds me of the squid I caught off Newhaven Breakwater in 1969. It caused quite a stir as nobody had seen a squid on rod & line before. I was fishing with an ordinary hook & bait and it got away, but was something different. This vid came as a real surprise to me.
I scuba dived at Portland in Weymouth! Lots of cuttlefish, some fighting whiting and a big cod... Best dives I've done! ( Dredger, countesses of earl and landing craft)
I think the braid is more important for allowing your jig to fall very freely and naturally whereas mono that is on the thicker side for the circumstances will hinder the jigs performance. Great video, we use those Razorbacks in Australia all the time they are killer.
Exceptional video!! A mountain-full of great information!! I caught my first squid in Eastport Maine for 2021. I ate them raw for first time. I eat both the body and tentacles . They are delicious as expected.what time of year were you catching them in Weymouth?
I've been catching squid off my local pire for a couple months now. Had some monsters and it's great for bait. I have had over 20 Whiting in one session on the squid I've caught.
Always wanted catch a squid. After watching that me and my daughter are coming down to Weymouth, get some lures catch some squid. Many thanks for sharing. What is the best tide state for catching squid?
Check with Mackie at the Weymouth tackle shop,he will save you a wasted journey as he knows the best conditions.Needs to be clear as far as I understand. Was a floods tide when I was there.
To avoid the ink problem, after you cut the head and tentacles off put the hood containing the organs into the freezer for half an hour, when you pull the innards out the ink sac is semi solid. You can then keep it frozen and use it to make pasta negra with or even write using it.
Hi Graeme, I've noticed you use the brilliant Nomura Kanji white rod, which length do you use? I'm thinking of buying one for Bass and general spinning. Thanks mate, love the channel.
Very interesting and informative. Regarding cooking, there are many ways of course. In your method I would have flash fried the squid and then added soy and sweet chilli for the last few seconds. By adding those ing's with the oil before adding the squid you are basically adding liquid, thus reducing the frying method and also (although not drastically) reducing the heat of the oil. Cook the food and then add soy etc. Not telling you I am right or anything like that, this is just the way I cook (Indian chef). Regards from West Cork, Mike
nice video graeme sir, i had a nosey look at the much kept secrets of weymouth and they have a Weymouth Craft Beer Festival Tickets, Sat, 17 Mar 2018 at 12:00 ..., holidays away.? when all these delights are in need of exploration cheers.
I remember fishing on the stone pier a few years ago after rewatching this video it brings back memories I caught a sea rass and a tiny little pollock the size of a lighter maybe I tiny bit bigger
Squid seem to start here in August the same time as the Mackerel start running. We just catch them with our Mackerel jigs. Most people throw them back. I don't I keep them all and have a big feed.
just watched your '' droplob'' vid and was wondering whether you've ever tried using the squid tenticals instead of lob worms ? just an idea and i only ask as my local fishmonger says he throws loads away as people prefer the main body.
What !!...Throws away the squid tentacles !!..That's a great sea bait, best bit for black bream, bass, and such...worth a try on the Perch and droplob style.
Thanks for all the great vids guys, I challenge you both to make a lure out of a Christmas decoration or part Christmas dec and have a little match .....will send a donation if I see it !... Thanks again x

I'm loving fry days after catching lots of calamaris;-)
Beautiful camera work on the squid! Thank you. It makes you feel bad for eating something so marvelous.
But they are really tasty when fresh caught. I don't feel too bad once they are inside me.
