“Your hitting your bumper, you may need a little momentum” as he’s nosed into a literal wall haha.
He’s a trooper! He has my vote for A for effort!! Thank you for showing and proving what AEV is all about and is capable of doing and not being afraid of trying.
I regularly go down to 4-5 psi on bead locks. That's what they're made for. The traction is next level.
Theoretically, depending on the tire’s construction, you could go to 0 even
I do 8 always without bead locks. 6 in snow. Zero if I need to get unstuck in snow. If I spin my wheels, it means too much air.
Awesome job Nate! That one spot pretty much requires a 2 door Jeep on 40s at this point. 😂
Full sales pitch was ENGAGED. Lol.
Not wanting to look bad is normal, but everything has some limitations.
Just ROLL with it.
Good job. 👏👏👏
Yes, finally some AEV 4x4's on the Ranch. Sweet! Bring on the Prospector XL. 40's Prospector power wagon. P.S. i wonder if you aired down first and then loaded the bed with weight after the Gladiator got stuck if it would have been able to climb out. My 2 wheel drive climbed way better with my Dirtbike in the bed.
I think its time for David to shave that bank down, seems like everything just hits front bumper and game over.
To get through the Tommy's Demise hard part, you'd have to go at it on an angle which might feel terrible but I think its the only way to get the breakover to work and keep at least one front tire on solid earth.
Yeah that’s the only way, other than a rig with no approach angle limitation , like a buggy
@@phild9813 Sherp. 😉
45* approach angle is better than just about any other semi-modified vehicle. With that obstacle I’d say adding some sort of angled approach is the only way. The back end is just too high to allow for a good approach angle. The other thing I do in those situations is pre-rig recovery solutions like winch, traction boards and possibly road building. If you’re into vehicle preservation… good stuff gents.
I tried. there wasn't too much room to work with to get a good angle like I had hoped and once the two front tires were in the mud it didn't let me work the vehicle to a spot that I liked.
I also tried. There's really only room for 1 line. I made it further than the Gladiator but still didn't complete it.
Man aev is a awesome package. I’ve had the 5100 shocks and eventually went up to the 8100s and let me tell you the 8100 is night and day better package. All round. Would pay that again!
Absolutely prospector on 40’s! The guys and gals from AEV are always welcomed!!!! They are the best I love everything they make!
Such a difference when compared to the 8000lb Power Wagon episode you had last year. You can definitely tell the difference in drivers experience. Gorgeous Gladiator! Great Episode. Thank you again.
Heys guys(tfl), tommys demise is becoming a tank trap. Unless you have tires or tracks that fill the bottom the front bumper hits and never has a chance to begin climbing up.
Awesome you had Nate on. He’s a good guy!
Really great action video. Outstanding Gladiator build. Thank you for showing this beautiful Jeep AEV.
Great job for AEV to put their build to the test. They are not afraid to show their products can hold up to the challenge. I get sick and tired of seeing tests done on rocks and dirt roads. This was great to actually see a JEEP in a very hard course. Great job AEV. MOST vehicles would have had problems in these situations. Nice to see a company that USES its Offroad components!
I'd rather have a bumper mounted spare tire. Putting it in the bed takes up too much room and if the bed is full you have to empty it to get to the spare when you need it.
Brilliant idea adding height via the logs to the downslope. Let's jack the rear ends up even more, so we can drive the front ends down into the upslope.
Clean gladiator build💚💚

@@seymorefact4333Seen countless vehicles capable of going over parking lot speed bumps that go around them. Making a spectacle of how prissy they are. If a vehicle cannot go over a parking lot speed bump or the driver is too fragile for it, get the hell off the roads.
That's why bumpers have recovery hooks. Nice video yet again
Aloha Andre. This was a terrific way to give the JT some of the toughest courses to see its performances. This video 📷📸 segment is a great topic to show its grit.
Wow, just Wow. Def dont want any mud on an offroad vehicle or have fun tryna get it unstuck under its own power! Good talker tho 👍🏼
It's an Infomercial. What else would you expect? 😉
Love this build! Well done!!!
Nice job Nate! That Gladiator rocks!
Great video guys, loved seeing the AEV working. Now we need to compare it to the G-wagon Mercedes. 🤗🤗🤗🤗
Good thing he had that snorkel...lol
Remember, you can't call it snorkel.

Has snorkel but immediately complains when mud gets on the hood...
Was a real test. The AEV Gladiator did well. Bottomless mud with a hard vertical that literally stops the momentum can only be beat by just ramming it. An old beater with an extended angled bumper could beat that. A nice, expensive Jeep could have done it, just not worth the damage it would cause...
Responsible land management versus Earth holes, LOL.
Nice Gladiator!
15:57 the large wheelbase helped here.
AEV is the gold standard. They never rush anything to market. Dave Harrington won't put the AEV name on it until it's perfect!!
Super cool Gladiator build👌🏼

It really bugs me how some people pronounce it as "wench"
As much fun as it might be to have a wench in my truck when I get to my campsite, its the winch that will help me pull the truck out of a bad spot.
Give me a break I'm from the Midwest! 😂
I think a 10,000 lb wench could also pull out your truck pretty well.
@@scotthjelm5287 but I would enjoy that wench a lot less.
Yeah...maybe as bad as people calling Vise Grip pliers "Vice" Grip. And then there's "hot water heater" when hot water doesn't need heating. And not to mention... ;-)

You should be more concerned with the commie being worried about "hurting the erff"! When did he become a tree hugging hippie queer?
I don’t think there are too many vehicles that could make it through the hard line in its current condition
A humvee did it in another episode. Those things are insanely capable.

a compilation of every 4x4 that's tried tommy's demise would be a fun lil video. I cant remember but I think like only 3 vehicles have made it through ?
Someone made it through? I feel like that obstacle is useless because I thought nobody has made it
The biggest issue is that it is constantly changing based on the water runoff, so no two runs will encounter the same condition.
The little black TJ Rubicon made it through but the obstacles weren't quite as wet.
The Humvee on 40s made it

Buy a 15 to 20 year old used Jeep Grand Cherokee for $10,000 USD and put a six inch lift on it, some Fox 3.1 Active shocks, extra full underbody skid plates, some front and back heavy duty bumpers and bush bars with 16,000 lbs winches front and back, LED light bar and fog lamps and buy some 35 inch or 37 inch Goodyear Duratracs or Nitto EXO Grappler tires with beadlock, two 20 gallon Jerry Cans of gas, a winter-rated roof-top tent and cargo rack system all for about $15,000 USD and you are good to go for around $25,000 USD total for a complete OFF-ROAD MONSTER that can go ANYWHERE !!!
V
A Jeep that tows, but how do you get home after?
tommys demise you guys might have to shave the bank down so you dont plow the bumper into it surprised you havent done it yet
Think they should just give it the name Jeep Optional!
I had a Brand new gladiator, not happy with it. Traded it for a Wrangler. the long wheel base made life more difficult.
Jeep went from short base...to med base to long base and expect them to be better off-roaders. I love my TJ. Minimal electronics, short base and AC...lol.
Kind of, don't forget about the CJ6 and CJ8. The wheelbase is always a trade-off. Some obstacles, when offroad, are easier in a long wheelbase, but many times a shorter one will do more. The gladiator might not be the choice for you, but it still has a lot to offer. If you want to take 4 people a dog and camp gear, tow a trailer, or haul a dirtbike, I would say a gladiator would be better than a TJ.
Indeed if you got a standard. I had a auto CJ7 and it was just dog slow and fuel consuming. Funny thing about that comment. My Pioneer Cherokee did all that (minus the cycle) but my buddy had the pickup version and jammed his ATV everywhere we went. I just dont trust the electronic dependency in Jeeps today. Been Jeeping since 87 and its just not the same. Maybe one day...but not today.
@@aevnate4140
I think it's time to dump some rocks into Tommy's demise so the hole isn't so deep. Just about any vehicle with a bumper is going to plow into the bank. You have to have a minimum of 40" tires and probably a 6" lift to get through it in that condition.
2 door 370 aev without front bumper
What truck/ suv have gone up Tommy’s demise? I only seen everyone hit the bumper and get stuck.
I made it past the front bumper in my Xterra but my rear mounted spare got hung up on the down hill side
its the DRIVER not the RIG
(driving into a wall of dirt with any rig will get it stuck)
I like the look of this AEV equipped Jeep. Bit at the end of the day, this mod is not for me.
Is that AEV Gladiator regeared or is that the stock 4:10?
It is regeared to 4:56 gears.
Why correction brackets and not longer control arms. Correction brackets is a cheap way to go at this price tag
Longer control arms will fix the caster that is lost when lifting a vehicle. The same is true with our Geometry Correction brackets. If you look at a stock Jeep the control arms are nearly parallel to the ground and control arms fail to do is correct the angle of the lower and upper arms causing the axle to not only move up but forward into the bump. The Geo brackets correct the position of the arms and fix the arc of the suspension to a neutral up and down for the first few inches. The other big area our brackets help is when you brake hard you will have less tail rise and nose dive.
What is the impact to payload when you load up these options?
The upper limit of your payload doesn't change, but any weight you add to the vehicle will reduce what kind of load it can carry. The opposite would be true as well. If you remove the top and doors you effectively gained the ability to carry more payload.
@@aevnate4140 Poorly worded question on my part; what is the available payload after all the additional options? Assuming full load, with doors and top, and the additional options, the available payload remaining is the number id want to know. ✌🏼
@@Carl-vx9ws It is 1050lbs for this Gladiator. A Factory Gladiator Rubicon is 1200lbs.

@aevnate4140 will AEV make a 2 door Gladiator, a modern version of the TJ Brute?
I don't see us making the gladiator into a 2 door truck. Sadly it would be such a small market.
@@aevnate4140 I understand. I just miss when AEV built actual custom vehicles and a 2 door Gladiator would be so much more practical for offroad use versus the excessively long 4 door configuration.
@@skiptheroad Well, we did make the Brute Double Cab. It is basically the same thing as a Gladiator. We just saw the need for a 4-door truck-based Wrangler. I just don't know how many would pay a significant amount more for a 2-door versus a 4-door. If you have a 2 door gladiator and put a topper on the back you pretty much have a 4 door wrangler.
@@aevnate4140 I have a 4 door Wrangler and love it. I also have a 4wd midsized 2 door short bed pickup from the 90's and there is no comparing the two. One is indeed an suv, the other is 100% pickup. I would never haul our muddy mountain bikes, muddy dogs, dirt, gravel, mulch, and such in my Wrangler. I do have a camper that lives part time on the back of my little pickup for UP and Canadian camping, kayaking, and fishing trips. I had originally thought that the Wrangler would replace our the little pickup but that hasn't been the case for my use. The truck is showing its age though and is getting very tired. A two door Gladiator would be the perfect replacement.
@@skiptheroad I understand, but theoretically, if we did make a 2 door Gladiator and it cost $100,000 and the 4 door option is $87,000 would you spend the extra $13,000? Personally, I don't see people spending the extra cash for less capacity. We have seen it in the past doing the opposite.
Why the background music?
Those lights are bad news to damn big blocking two much of the radiator. Just one man's opinion .I did take a short trip in one of those road like a tank not for me .
It was 90 degrees outside at the time of this shoot and did not have any overheating issues. We have tested them in real conditions and have not had an issue.
@@aevnate4140 I believe that I just have reservations about anything in front of the radiator . I guess at 81 now I'm set in my ways plus I grew up driving a model A 1924 it was a problem in Bakersfield Ca.
Agree one thing is this little test, and another thing is this vehicle is fully loaded on hot weather and highway speeds.

Cut back the brush on your trail. No one wants a pin stripe on a new vehicle.
The bottom of Tommy's demise is so deep now I don't know how much of anything is going to be able to make it out of there
I’ve taken my gladiator through crazy stuff it has a aev 2.5 and 38x13.5 on it. If I lift a front tire, it means it’s a 5 foot hole. Plus the side mirrors can be crushed and will fall apart and press back together. Learned this at Elbe last weekend.
This situation he should have aired down, at least the rear, then tried slamming it backwards to get out. Then approach forward at an angle like he should have to lift one tire at a time. Done it enough to know it would work. Zero traction and he wouldn’t be moving at all. They never think to air down more.
20 psi is way too much for any trails.
Off Camera, I did air down the rear to 8psi. It didn't help this time.
I’m a little disappointed that you haven’t made that sticker more valuable by requiring a vehicle to make it through the course on its own.
Now it’s just a participation trophy and doesn’t mean anything.
Love our 2013 Jeep JK Sport S 2 Door on 31 inch KO2's, norther Ontario and Quebec snow, no issues, summer trails and mud no problem, but it is much lighter than the Gladiator
so $75k worth of Chrysler product gets you so stuck it takes 3 attempts from the side by side to get unstuck. Seems worth it hahaha

I would not say useless, but it does take up valuable space in a small truck like this one.
Congrats Nat! I'm so tired of Ineos videos where they only try obstacles they're sure they can make. I would rather buy from you any day.
17 to 20 k? Do your research folks....
Can you test G class?
Proof you can spend $60K on a Jeep, then put another $15K in upgrades and then still embarrassingly get stuck that others have been able to do with much lesser rigs.
Conditions change a lot day to day
Air down!
its a Jeep thing, we wouldn't understand 😆
AEV builds aren’t cheap. But they do sell all their parts so you can do the work yourself over time. My buddy and I created a fully built Chevy Colorado over 2.5 years… adding parts as we could.
Yes driving most cars front end straight into a dirt wall will not let them go forward 😂
Two things I like on mine, the older bumper design has a steep angle, also, 37 spare can fit under the bed, but I probably would had removed it for clearance sake.
The biggest problem is the mods were all Mopar. And the college educated nut behind the wheel.
A college education is a BAD thing? 🙄
Wench?
I have no practical use for a Gladiator, but I love the way it looks. Unfortunately, I am just not rich enough to justify this as a toy.
