This is up there with one of the best things I like to make and have shared on the channel ever!! If you want to give it a try, here are all the steps you will need and ingredients barrylewis.net/recipe/homemade-fish-finger-sandwich/
Absolutely stunning pictures of you, Mrs. Barry & the girls!! Y'all haven't aged a bit & the girls have only gotten more beautiful. I don't like fish but did enjoy watching the process of how it's made. I'd watch y'all make mud though. That's how much I ❤️ the channel!! Much love from GA 🍑, USA.
agreed, they're the party getting married, they don't get time to eat or drink through most of the day anyway, save some for the guests of honour... (they're also usually paying for it... so there is that too).
Agreed. I trained as a Wedding Planner for a while, and when it came to the 'Catering' unit, one of the topics covered was to make sure a meal is saved for the couple, as they probably will not have time to eat during the reception. No couple wants to have 'Room Service' or a drive-thru meal as their wedding meal!!
The worst service I ever saw gave out the entire wedding cake to guests, including the top tier. I was horrified, especially because the guests taking the cake were 100% people with children (who were not invited to begin with). The couple only got the first bites. Out of a massively expensive cake.
in asia(especially hotel weddings), the bride and groom table gets the food first, then the 2 VIP tables(families of the bride/groom). even with a buffet style event, those 3 tables get to take their food first or the chef does a 4 course set just for the 3 tables. if the bride and groom didnt get to eat(its sent to their suites).
We actually predicted this issue with my sister's wedding so we specially requested the caterers set aside a 'honeymoon tray" basically a little of everything offered that night, that the bride and groom could take with them on their way after the wedding, so they actually get to eat it later that night. Gave them plenty of time to relax and chat and dance, and they still got to enjoy the menu they chose.
This is such a good idea! I’ve heard so many people talk about how they never got to eat the wedding food that they took so much effort to pick out. Love this!
@@JetsunMusique I'm glad you like it! Definitely an idea I'll be stealing when my day comes for sure. I'm a total foodie so I know I'd be devastated if I didn't get to try mine! I honestly think it should be a common courtesy for the caterers to at least specifically set a plate up for the bride and groom. They're the whole reason you're getting paid, the least you can do is make sure they're fed.
What we did for my sister's was told everyone the first 1/2 of dinner was for the wedding party to eat. They flat out told everyone to sit and enjoy but not to bother the couple. We as the wedding party acted like bouncers and kept eveyone away from them until they got to eat. That way they got to enjoy the food fresh and not need to feel the pressure of entertaining guests.
You two are so wholesome! So many people say, "marriage and then kids" that I assumed that was the route y'all went, but seeing that picture of you two getting to have your beloved children on your super special couple day is so so stinkin sweet! Happy near anniversary and late Father's day Barry! 😊
Nowadays lots of people have kids then get married at least in Britain. My mum will be one of them when she marries my stepdad (he's technically not yet I know but he's lived with us since I was 13 and they have 2 kids together so he's close enough). In some cases I think it ends up better. Most of the family friends and extended family who got married then had kids are divorced now but all the ones who had kids then got married are still together.
You two are such a beautiful couple! Those wedding photos were stunning! I also love it when you make personal recipes like this. Thank you for allowing your stonking fans this glimpse. And it looks delicious!
I’m currently baking your hummingbird cake for a BBQ later and was delighted to find you have uploaded while cake is baking. Even though I’m a vegetarian I watch every video of your and love them! Fave RUclipsr and fave couple on RUclips 🙌
Im deathly allergic to all seafood and still watched as well.......I would just make it with chicken instead.....totally not a vegetarian. I'd probably still do the fish fingers with salmon for the rest of the family though.
Been on a barrathon (barathon?) every single day for a week now and I gotta say, my favorite videos are when both of you are on screen together! It just puts a smile on my face, thank you for another fun video! It's 2am over here and I've just been stifling all my giggles throughout the whole video.
My wedding cake was white chocolate cake with a orange buttercream icing. The bottom layer had a pineapple filling and the middle layer had a strawberry filling. It was AMAZING! The person who made it had never done a pineapple filling before so she had to come up with how to do it. Unfortunately she no longer makes cakes so I won't be able to have an anniversary one made. The regular food was just some North Carolina BBQ with all the fixins. :D
hi barry, I just wanted to thank you for inspiring to cook, I now cook Heston recipes every week, but I still love to watch your videos, it all started with you, thank you
Reminds me of our wedding reception. We only had time to take a few bites of food so my family was kind enough to set aside a portion for us to take with us. We put it in the little mini fridge at the hotel and by the morning half of it was frozen the other half was so soggy it was inedible. Even though it was 18 years ago I still remember looking down at it and being so sad and so hungry at the same time.
Another great vid. I will say, I use olive oil in my mayo and it is truly the best mayo I have ever tasted. I also throw everything in a jar and use an immersion blender. So quick and easy. Keep up the good work, can't wait for the new kitchen videos 😊
I've had them a couple of times, as part of a 'Welsh Breakfast', with cockles as well as all the other cooked breakfast items. They are one of those things you taste, and immediately wish that you could eat all the time. My late father introduced me to Laverbread - he always knew the good stuff. It seems daunting, being seaweed, but oh, it is so good. Hungry now.
We were married 6 years ago as well. We had non traditional wedding food and it was so delicious. It was casual BBQ foods but fancied up for a wedding. Pulled pork, crispy wings with 6 different sauces, mac n cheese, loaded baked potato salad, veggies. And our wedding cake was dark chocolate with fresh whipped cream and fresh strawberries. And we had strawberry lemonade cupcakes as well but the staff forgot to put them out so we ended up taking a lot of them home after sharing with everyone who stayed to help clean up.
Oh Barry, you guys are so adorable!! We had a Chinese duck with hoisin for our wedding meal. Caterer totally knackered it. They really pushed us for hog roast and mullered the meal. We didn’t get to eat the test meal as we were in London, a relative tried the dish but it was microwaved in a pot.
I used to make mayo almost everyday at work. I'd play with the menu an play with the flavors. Chipotle, lemon herb, basil or pesto, balsamic, garlic, etc. It would get used for so much of the menu.
I had Carolina BBQ. Smoked pork with a vinegar based (instead of the mustard base) sauce. Then again, we went to the courthouse to get married, because it was cheaper. Still, 23 years on people still think we're in the early dating stage, so I think it worked out.
I am 100% trying this out! Looks so easy and so tasty! If you could pick any fish for this recipe what would it be? Or would you just stick with the cod?
My favourite dish from my wedding was those Austrian smoked cheeses (the mini ones that look like a sausage), wrapped in bacon and deep fried - crispy, salty bacon with soft, smoky, melty, gooey cheese centre! I've made them countless times since, they are amazing!
This reminds me of a creation my schoolmate devised many years ago. "The Feast of Kings" - consists of a white bread base, four fish fingers shallow fried, a slice of tasty cheese and a fried egg, topped with tomato sauce and chicken salt.
Since you asked about wedding food I will give my limited knowledge about Pittsburgh wedding traditions, specifically about the infamous cookie table. Apparently its almost a requirement to have a dedicated table full of cookies brought by guests or even ordered from caterers. It's a huge thing in Western PA and some parts of Ohio, and started when eastern European immigrants came here. I havent gotten married since im still in college, but the cookie table would be on my list of things to prep if i were to do so!
When my wife and I got married, the food was gone by the time we got done with all the official stuff. I think I ate some scrambled eggs and a piece of cake before I got home that night. I was ready to keel over in the heat.
It feels like months since I've watched your videos! Me and my boyfriend use to watch them together before quarantine but I dont see your videos come up in my recommended anymore. Got a lot to catch up on! 😁
My parants got married on midsommar/Midsomer (Sweden) and had Smörgåstårta (which is kinda like a savory cake, usually with lox ,prawns and asparagus etc. But there is several ways to do it. And often eaten at midsommar) would be interesting to see you try and do that 😁
The only thing my husband and I ate was a tiny piece of wedding cake and I had half a glass of champagne. We were starving when we left the reception so we stopped at McDonald and they gave us our meal for free when they noticed the "Just Married" sign on the car. I'm love fish but have never eaten it in a sandwich form. That's next on my list, thanks for the great video.
You could also use a very high level jug, dump all your ingredients for the mayo in and use a hand blender on a very high speed. And there you have a really easy and fast made mayo
Same thing happened to us Barry, everyone munched the good stuff before we got a chance. What made me laugh is that the caterer pulled out a bag of tesco jam donuts and offered me one of those to make up for it 😂
Or made it the fast way using a stick blender in a tall container and you get to put all the stuff in and have it done in a few min. Only use homemade now. And yes you can use the whole egg

There is no need to add the oil 'that' slowly. You are able to start with a constant stream especially when using an electric mixer.
