Your analysis of the STP and the dioceses' doctrinaire centralism is spot on. Ironically, not only the research evidence but even the Church Commissioners conclude that the centralist-adviser-enabler-project based-hub-minster model strategies that dismiss as irrelevant the local voice have not been working for the very reasons you have cited. The diocesan centres have turned the roles around: instead of serving the local parishes, the parishes now exist - with or without a priest - to serve the wishful-thinking, non evidence based, nonsensical projects and priorities of incompetent oligarchs which are producing only falling membership and falling finances. You couldn't make this stuff up! But it is causing a lot of hurt and disillusionment. Parishes ought just to stop paying their 'shares', 'quotas', 'offers' or whatever in order to make their dioceses see sense. The problem is that English diocesan bishops are accountable to no one but themselves; there are no plausible or effective checks and balances.
Thank you, again. It's amazing how many full-time clergy (and lay people) can be employed at diocesan offices when the dioceses themselves remain almost completely funded by waning churches with part-time clergy.
This is an excellent episode, the conversation about masculinity and femininity in the church, especially. I wish there were more concrete examples of both, offered here, I think I found myself agreeing, but not knowing exactly about what.

I don’t know how many Anglican Unscripted viewers have seen this video (see link) from Mahyar Tousi TV (a good alternative to the BBC!). Mayhar (a patriotic British citizen) comes from a family of LEGAL immigrants from Iran and gets good information about Iran. There are some amazing statistics in the video….50,000 mosques in Iran have been closed……Iranian official sources say that only 35% of Iranians are now practising Muslims……Iran has possibly the fastest growing church in the world….Iran is becoming a Christian ‘hot-spot’ in the region…..etc!

The local HTB plant I'm somewhat stuck with seems to be too concerned with branding. Like it has been stated that if the old ladies at the church wanted a knitting club they'd be told to do it in their own time because the church is oriented towards students and the homeless instead.

Surely the nuclear family was a relatively recent and transient phenomenon? In the UK very old people are wont to reminisce about having (grand)parents who looked after the children and who were looked after by their own children instead of being dispatched into nursing homes at the first sign of dementia.
We in the UK would say that economic factors are destroying the nuclear family. Like needing two salaries to get a mortgage for a microscopic apartment - and pay for child care. I doubt anyone in Britain would be deluded enough to say the demise of the family is because nobody takes any notice of the Church of England. They never did when it came to cost of living issues.
No, it is not economic. We in UK simply assumed it is God’s will & an absolute necessity for us to get a mortgage even if children suffer in the absence of a mother working from home.
In Germany most are very happy to get a rented apartment and even this, is not easy, as you need to have good references! It’s a worldly desire, a worldly trapping that we ‘need’ a mortgage to purchase a house. No, we don’t need a house that must be purchased. We just need a safe, warm home.
On the subject of female clergy I think this is an attempt by the church to shore up safe guarding. The perception of a female priest is that perhaps they can be trusted more with children following such bad press regarding abuse of children by priests. I think this has worked but I don't take away from the good work that female priests do. I don't see female priests as demonic. Just the opposite.
Very little abuse of children by priests . More by school teachers , apparently. They just use different statistic methodsand compare them as if they were evil and we rely on the newsmedia who are not well educated. but are required to be politically correct. Abuse by bullying females is left out of reports
