The superego is an important component of our psyche, but having a superego that is too strong can lead to feelings of guilt, self-criticism, and low self-esteem. Here are some suggestions for softening a strong superego: Practice self-compassion: Be kind and understanding towards yourself and others.
Women’s orders = not salvation issue, not an insult on Gods holiness….Redefining marriage and blessing what God forbids….is risking peoples salvation and is a holiness issue. I wish people would stop , just stop linking the two very separate issues. Women’s orders scripturally has been debated for decades….and will continue to do so….Blessing same sex relationships….the scriptures could not be clearer, you have to do major mental gymnastics to say there is a scriptural backing for this.
Some might say that there was an element of theological gymnastics in the women priests issue too. But I think you miss the point here. If you take the nuance into consideration what you find is that, in women's ministry it is complex in that there are scriptural examples though these are given undue prominence and significance. The overall balance of scripture remains in majority or normative model of male leadership, perhaps with the argument that there are exceptions where exceptional women are involved in significant ministry. So as a mathematician and scientist what this is, is taking outliers and using them to deny the overall trend in the data. In an era of grace, where everything is permissable, thus such things are allowable, but scripturally never encouraged. To then go in to form a school of theological thinking which promotes equality or dare I say equal representation, or maybe equal opportunity in ministry is just to deny the wider picture, or the actual trend in the data in scripture. What we used to call the whole counsel of scripture. So why is this linked to SSM? If you permit biased reporting of scripture to argue for new direction, you set a precedent. If you tie in political realities in wider society you have a position where "everything is permissable for me" but without the caveat that "not every thing is beneficial" it soon becomes everything is good. It says that as long as you can find a wafer thin argument from scripture in favour of what you want you should push ahead. It is less focussed on looking to scripture for guidance and doctrine, and more to looking to pastoral need to define what is perhaps allowable or permitted, and then removes the rigour of asking if it is best. A good example is where the episcopal church in the USA re-categorises alcoholism as a medical condition, and this not subject to sanction. One can see why one might want to acknowledge it as such, but then one is faced with even bishops being raised up who have not yet brought this fully under control. In other words egalitarian theology is just not wise, and opens the door to further shifts.
Members of the staff team of my church were present for the 2 lesbians in Felixstowe. They officially disagree with the whole gay blessings things, but think it's unchristian to say anything someone might find offensive, so are sort of stuck with a trend of increasing worldliness.
I'm one of those that left for Rome back in the 1990s when I could see that women's ordination was the thin end of a very big wedge. I suspected even then we would face this problem within the Catholic Church eventually. It's important to remember that the Catholic Church has seen worse popes than Francis and survived. In hindsight, we we've had two excellent shepherds in St John Paul II and Benedict 16th. Francis is now doing his worst but I know some of the younger priests in the Catholic Church and they are very devotedly orthodox, as are many of our young people. The "Spirit of Vatican II" movement and "liberation theology" generation that Francis represents is old and getting fewer. Time is not on Francis's side.
@@philiphumphrey1548 It depends on how true it is that Frances has been gaming the system so his legacy will be carried on by the next pope. I'm not sure a switch back to a strongly conservative pope is in the offing.
@kenbeach5021 This is a direct quote from benedict: Be afraid neither of the world, nor of the future, nor of your weakness. @@davidsprouse151 Not sure what you are getting at. Depending on how public you are it can take a fair bit of courage to make a stand against the alphabet juggernaut. Our acquaintance Rev Murphy is a good example of this.
If it’s so important to call same sex couples to repent, why can you attend conservative evangelical churches for years before realising that that is their doctrine? Why aren’t there announcements on the front page of their websites, and posters outside the church, saying that gay sex is a sin? You say it’s loving to share the truth so why not?
As an Anglican I m very sad and disappointed that CofE has agreed to bless same sex marriage. It makes me wonder if CofE is really a true Church of God.
Roman Catholic theology is thoroughly Neopllatonistic; there is a sspiritual realm and a materhial reaalm and the Church has the obligation to bring the mateerial rrealm into contact wiith the spiritual Anthing biblical if alluded to in dogmatic statements is just a pretext whereas the rationalism of philosophy is foundational.
@@tonyoliver2750 a false dilemma fallacy is arguing between two options when there are more than two available It's the either/or argument when there's both neither/nor and both/and and others. @@tonyoliver2750 " How can blessing same-sex couples not be pro gay (lifestyle or in other videos, pro gay "agenda")?" That's his goal. It's rhetoric. You're either promoting sin or against sin. Gender is performative) These are all false dilemmas.
@@davidsprouse151 Gender is a grammatical term. As for your examples, they are not examples of a false dilemma, which necessitates that there be an incorrect limitation on the options available. The options in your examples are not erroneously limited from a Christian world view because they stem from the need to be faithful to God who set before us a choice, life or death, a blessing or a curse. You can't be indifferent to what God requires of you, you either abide by his word or you don't. To say, as I've often heard it said by liberal Christians, that you personally have no problem with the gay lifestyle but that you wouldn't necessarily promote it, is to reject the word of God who is the ground of ontologically objective morals and duties. If God does not exist then objective moral values and duties do not exist, in which case you are free to be indifferent, you do then have other options and the moral dilemma present by George is false.

Pelagius was a Briton, or more usually a Romano-Briton as he was a Briton from the part ruled by the Roman Empire.
Thank you for the correction.@@christopherquinn5899
KEVIN: Morecambe is NOT "in themiddle of nowhere"! It is near the ancient city of Lancaster; where the University of Lancaster had - as its first Professor of Religious Studies - the great NINIAN SMART; author of 'The Religious Experience of Manknd'. Of course, Smart was writing eons before ISLAM decided to continue its old tradition of conquering, lands-not-its-own, for POLITICAL ISLAM. It could be argued he was one of those who led us to where we are today!
Mark - you say that Morecombe isn't in the middle of nowhere, but as it is nearly Christmas all I can say is 'oh yes it is'! 😉

Womens orders is not the gateway. Feminism is.
And there is no connection between women's orders and feminism? What have you been smoking?
Bob W misguided feminism is gateway to womens orders.
@@williamwilkes503 read it again. Feminism is all you need, even if you don't have women priests.
Yet again 'free fall into hell' comes to mind. Chris x
You have an excessive concern with scrupulosity. Quit withdrawing from the world. Jesus is not bound to the inner courts of the Christian community. Get your priorites straight.
The superego is an important component of our psyche, but having a superego that is too strong can lead to feelings of guilt, self-criticism, and low self-esteem. Here are some suggestions for softening a strong superego: Practice self-compassion: Be kind and understanding towards yourself and others.
Well now we all know exactly what constitutes Anglo Catholicism. As defined precisely by the bishop of earth.
The two of you looked pretty grim today. Disheartened, really.
Jesus called the religious leaders of his day a brood of vipers.
Poor Gavin Ashenden, jumping out of the fire into the frying pan, only to find the same problems heating up in the Roman Catholic Church.
@@philiphumphrey1548 How can you name john paul 2 and benedict in same sentence?
@@philiphumphrey1548 It depends on how true it is that Frances has been gaming the system so his legacy will be carried on by the next pope. I'm not sure a switch back to a strongly conservative pope is in the offing.
@kenbeach5021 This is a direct quote from benedict: Be afraid neither of the world, nor of the future, nor of your weakness. The Lord has allowed you to live in this moment of history so that, by your faith, his name will continue to resound throughout the world.
Compare that with the extreme cowardice I see in this (non-benedictine) flavor of conservatism. All I see from the conservatives, including he-who-shall-remain-namelss in this channel is hypocrisy and fear. Get Over Yourselves.
Because of the vitriolic hatred they would be subjected to by the woke in general and LGBTQ factions in particular.

As an Anglican I m very sad and disappointed that CofE has agreed to bless same sex marriage. It makes me wonder if CofE is really a true Church of God.
It isn’t.
So what you believe is that there is some good in homosexuality and in Nazism and that the good in both worldviews can be celebrated?
George's arguments are eristic. He uses the false dilemma fallacy.
Everyone's got a devil on their left shoulder and an angel on their right.
Please give an example of George presenting a false dilemma.
@@tonyoliver2750 a false dilemma fallacy is arguing between two options when there are more than two available It's the either/or argument when there's both neither/nor and both/and and others. He does it alot. One example is: the arguments for same sex blessings in the church are either pro gay
Iifestyles or against gay lifestyles.
@@davidsprouse151 I fail to see how the example you gave is a false dilemma. How can blessing same-sex couples not be "pro gay"? PatristicNectar, an Eastern Orthodox RUclips channel has just posted a video on the subject, "Forbidden Blessings", which I would urge all Christians to watch.
@@tonyoliver2750 " How can blessing same-sex couples not be pro gay (lifestyle or in other videos, pro gay "agenda")?" That's his goal. It's rhetoric. You're either promoting sin or against sin. You're either conservative or liberal. You're either male or female (his chromosome argument is only relevant to the extent that gender is expressed by genes, which it isn't.
Benedict was more God centred. Francis it man centred it seems
