Thank you both for what I believe to be the best video this year. Bishop Dobbs' words reflect those of Christ himself and should be heard and acted upon by Anglicans worldwide. It is so unfortunate that my Archbishop (Welby) has remained largely silent on the whole issue. In a recent interview about his role he did not even mention the conflict. Bishop Dobbs, we salute your faith and your courage. Kevin, any chance you could insert that special collect for this Sunday in the description field? God bless you both.
Edit: Here is the special collect for the people of Israel and the Middle East:
'God of all comfort and hope, who in Your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, proclaimed good news to the poor, bound up the broken-hearted, and set the captives free: We remember before You this day all who are affected by the violence of October 7, and we ask You to heal the wounded, comfort those who mourn, and bring justice and peace to the land of Israel. Look with mercy upon the peoples of the Middle East, that, in Your great compassion, the light of Christ may shine in the darkness and bring hope to every nation. As Simeon rejoiced to see Your salvation, a light for revelation to the Gentiles and the glory of Your people Israel, so we pray that Jesus, the Messiah, would be known as the true hope for all the earth. May Your Kingdom come, and may Your peace reign in every heart, through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.”

I think you should cut ++Wood some slack. Imho, sending a brother bishop to go over there and meet with many people and groups, and report back to us all is far better than anything he might come up with on his own to say. He's only an archbishop, not a pope or even a patriarch. And I think that's a good role for the ACNA to have a bishop in; it's a good structure for the ACNA especially right now.

You should also have Rev. Dr. Steven Sizer on as a guest to give a more balanced report on the situation in Israel and Palestine. I am sorry that while I did hear him condemn anti-semitism, I did not hear the Rt. Rev Julian Dobbs condemn the Christian Zionist error.

Would you care to tell us what you mean by a "more balanced report?"

    • @Fergus-Collington

Thomas, it is disgusting to suggest that 'Dr Steven Sizer', not currently 'Rev' simply represents an alternate opinion, which somehow has a right to be represented. There is plenty of sentiment around against Israel in my denomination, the Church of England, and yet the Church's leadership, through a long process, came to the view that Dr Sizer's criticism of Israel was malicious, and crossed the line into antisemitism.
Putting the issues with him aside, I'm confused by your implication that Bishop Dobbs has failed to challenge 'Christian-Zionism' or that it is essential for someone with another point of view to be given the time of day to 'balance' things. In fact he clearly states that we shouldn't jump to politicise these issues, and the closest he comes to voicing a Zionist position is relaying the opinions of people he met, that a safe and strong Israel is important, as it guarantees religious freedom. Any Christian who would accept that definition of Zionism and is uncomfortable with it, must answer some serious questions.
Whatever definition of Zionism you may hold to, you then equate it to antisemitism, in fact you're even 'sorry to hear' Bishop Dobbs condemn antisemitism but not Zionism. Are you being serious?

According to Wikipedia, "Christian Zionism is a political and religious ideology that, in a Christian context, espouses the return of the Jewish people to the Holy Land."

@@anetzband1383 A large number of Palestinians, both Christian and Islamic, have alleged that genocide against Palestinians is occurring against the Palestinians in Gaza. Bishop Dobbs did not comment on this.
Reuters reports that the official Palestinian Health Ministry count as of Sept. 29, was 41,595 Palestinian dead. Accorrding to the United Nations the people of Gaza are now grieving 40,000 Palestinian lives lost, according to Gaza's health ministry. Most of the dead are women and children. This unimaginable situation is overwhelmingly due to recurring failures by the Israeli Defense Forces to comply with the rules of war. Bishop Dobbs did not comment on whether this report is accurate.
Bishop Dobbs did not report on whether he had raised the issue of the Israli's preventing relief [food, water, and medicine] from reaching Palestinians in Gaza is his talks with Israeli government officials.

@@royquick-s5n "Political Zionism and Christian Zionism are biblically anathema to the Christian faith. True Israel today is neither Jews nor Israelis, but believers in the Messiah, even if they are gentiles."
      - John Stott
Galatians 6:14-16 " But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world. For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature. And as many as walk according to this rule, peace be on them, and mercy, and upon the Israel of God."
Thus we see that the Israel of God is His Church
Dispensationalists falsely teach that God has two peoples, His Church, and a remnant people who will restore a national Israel with Jerusalem as its capital.
Christians should not support a national Israel as if it was a fulfillment of Biblical prophesy.
