I grew up in East Tennessee...and Western North Carolina is very rural once you get outside Asheville where the hippies took over. Just saying.

The comment on Iran has not aged well... Everything is moving quickly at the moment. You are a hostage to time on this one.
If Israel can topple the Iranian leadership this will be a huge step to peace in Israel, Palestine, Lebanon, Yemen, stopping the persecution of believers in Persia, undermining the regime in Syria, preventing much trouble in Iraq, stopping a supplier of arms to Russia and technoligy to North Korea.
Yep, I am praying for the success of Israel in this.

Gentlemen: After your analysis of the 'role' of God in suffering, (in connection with the hurricane) which takes us to around half way through the programme, you immediately leap on the "same sex blessing issue" in South Africa. Do you not find anything, at all, strange in this obsession the official Church has with 'sex'? Remember, the official Church teaching is that the first time a human being has 'sex', it must be with his/her husband or wife, after public 'Christian' marriage; and that those people are to remain together for life. They are become 'The Sabbath': which must not be violated. In the light of what you two - from your vocations - know about 'human nature', do you consider the Church's ideal even remotely realistic, or even achievable? Our first masturbatory act is probably before we even knew there was a (nasty) term for it! Do you not feel that - even for the sake of heterosexually-attracted people - it is time for the Church to re-visit its entire doctrine of human sexuality? Perhaps even along the lines of 'Living in Loive and Faith'? (I hope) you no longer advocate the stoning, or criminalisation, of adulterous and homosexual people. So why is that? It is because your conception of what God is like has changed, when compared to the view held by those who wrote, for example, Leviticus and Deuteronomy. Without wishing to be too Theosophist, our conception of God has evolved: and a key componebnt in that evolution was a specific young, historical Jew who profoundly disagreed with some of the practices in the Temple. To Jesus of Nazareth, the Father is 'spirit'. Yes, he turned up for the Great Feasts, used the Temple for debate and worship (like any other Jew); but he knew what the Father expected: that "the Sabbath is made for man: not man for the Sabbath". Somewhere along the Church's history (Dr Giles Fraser cl.aims around four hundred years after the crucifixion) 'Christianity' deliberately eschewed its Jewish origins: at the same time as a prallel process was taking place within 'Judaism', to eschew Jews whoacclaimed Jesus to be 'Messiah'. Two 'othoxies' were created in opposition to one another: where there ought to have been ongoing fraternity within the love of God'. Fior me, the current obsession of the Church with 'sex' (as opposed to, for example, avarice and rapaciousness) is a 'sign' that the Church is beyond recovery, inasmuch as preaching the Creator God of Israel is concerned. It is becoming as 'fundamentalist' as the most extreme Islam (except for the sanctions): and obsessed with 'perfection' in one, tiny, area: which affects us 'privately'; but does not help to create global warfare, or famine. This renders the Church redundant as a 'tool' for the God who was in Christ. Perhaps this is one of the greatest ap;ocalyptic signs?
