- Things don't always go to plan. I had an accident before I even made it to my hotel in Kandy.
With an injured ankle there wasn't much I could do on this trip to Sri Lanka. Fortunately I was taken in and looked after by a local family.

Wow this family is a big role model to me. Here in Germany the people have big houses and enough money to help others but the chances of finding a family like this are very small. This video was so wholesome to watch and I hope I can help someone like this in the future as well.

thats the problem with rich countries. You earn enough to care about yourself and people stopped helping each other. Thats kinda sad. I cant imagine taking a stranger with broken leg to my home.
As an American I absolutely loved this video. On average we tend to have so much in this country when it comes to material possessions yet finding truly caring people isn't always easy. The majority are quite self centered. While an American would likely be willing to get you help if you're injured the idea of taking someone into your home would be all but unheard of in most parts of the country. The hospitality the Sri Lankans showed you was truly touching and that alone makes me want to visit their country!

We went to Sri Lanka and despite the obvious real poverty surrounding our complex the Sri Lanka people were extremely respectful kind friendly courteous decent and generous and we felt very safe. While there we were lucky to witness a few Sri Lanken weddings, they were very colourful joyful events . Love the wonderful beautiful people of Sri Lanka ❤️, Dale you were so lucky this beautiful family found you , the older man of the family seems like a very wise lovable man ( love gratitude and respect to that entire family that took such good care of you! ) We have nothing but great memories of this wonderful country . Will definitely go to Sri Lanka again 👍🇱🇰🇬🇧

I had a terrible accident and a guy was looking out the window and rushed to my side. Got me to hospital and stayed there while I had an operation. This ensures I've been back to Sri Lanka 11 times. I ❤️Sri Lanka and the people x best place on earth x

I have just subscribed and watched this video from 2 years ago. Am from Laos 🇱🇦 and so heart warming to see the hospitality, generosity and kindness of how Sir Lankan people treat strangers with so much kindness. I have a very dear Sri Lankan friend who is in my neighborhood and also happens to be a Cardiologist. When I had my Sudden Death experience (Sudden Cardiac Arrest) very late at night and taken to the Emergency by Life Squad under "Code Blue". My wife just called to get some advice from him. But, within minutes he was at the Hospital which was 1 AM. Wow! I was shocked and surprised...but, relieved as he was a Cardiologist and told the Emergency Resident Doctor to treat me for a SCA event and NOT a Heart Attack. So, folks from India and Sri Lanka will go out of their way to help. Blessings to all those family members for taking such good care of you Dale. Your Sri Lankan friend & his family was definitely was a God send to you. Cheers!

If you hire a private car and driver I think you will get around easy and people in each place will accommodate your needs.

Some would call this a fairy tale, impossible to believe. Sri Lankan hospitality knows no bounds. One cannot describe it, you have to experience it like Dale did. From the rich to the downright poor they are the most awesome people you'll ever meet. A must visit country before one dies.

I can't recall a much more homely hospitality given to Dale by Silva and Ravi Family. Not to mention the kind generosity of treatment and consultation from doctor Chandana who waive the fee and even took the time to follow up by email. This was a collective of great Sri Lanka kind, passionate and great hospitality. I pray for Sri Lanka to overcome this current economic difficulty and wish the country a speedy recovery to good days sooner. (Jacky Lim from SG)

Yes, Ayurveda would have been the better choice for that kind of fractures, Dale's injury reminds me of Ayurveda doctors that I used to go in while I was growing up as a child in my beautiful Sri Lanka :-).

From the man on the train tracks to the family at the hotel to the family and man who took you in .. they were all unbelievably kind
In uk whenever I fell over people just turned away hardly anyone helped pre pandemic.. I had a bad accident in India as a guide was rushing me I slipped and ruined tendons in my leg agonising my whole trip but a guy also took me to doctors private house where they gave me 6 hours intravenous treatment inc my asthma and at least this stopped the agony gor a couple of weeks.. the guy waited 6 hours with me for no money just wanted to make sure was OK. Where in the world? Needless to say I look after myself more now and never rush... luckily was not worse...
If everyone was kind like that what a fantastic world it would be! 😀
