I'm in the epicenter of the COVID pandemic on Long Island in Lockdown on Day 38 and going through 90's hardcore bands I grew up listening to. VOD's Still is one on my favorite albums of all time. VOD is a time portal to my youth growing up on Long Island. So many shows....so many memories. Thanks VOD. A perfect distraction from this pandemic. Stay safe everyone.
For me it was their self-titled record man. I think it was because it was the first time I ever heard them. Up in Troy, NY just chillen. My man threw it on, I was like "who in the FUCK is THIS!?" Been a fan ever since.
The most underrated Metal band ever. I have been a fan since Imprint was released. I still consider Imprint among my favorite albums of all time almost 20 yrs later.
I've been listenin to alot if my old shit lately..90s-early 2000's was the best time for music period lol.. what's ur top5 all-time?..I have 6.. I forgot about dissolve so them, vod, fury of five, all out War,section8,and overcast..ooooo mg,,ssso good.
Metal Band? VOD is a New York (LI) HardCore band. They may have went metal but their roots are NYHC. I guarantee VOD never played the last two songs, 7/13 & Formula for Failure, at a metal show. If you noticed before those two song Mike Kennedy put on his old school B-Ball outfit because its for the Long Island Hard Core kids
I got into VOD when the NYHC documentary came out on VHS in 1998. I bought it cause I was really into Madball & 25 Ta Life at the time. The 1996 S/T is hands down my favorite VOD album. For The Bleeders is near to equally good, but that's mostly all old unreleased-unrecorded or rerecorded material from the Still EP era so it's not really a 1999 release even though technically it is. VOD is way fucking dope, though. Tim Armstrong is the Phil Anselmo of NYHC. Mid-90's VOD is indisputably the embodiment of how good NYHC got in the 90's. And the bands didn't all sound the same, either. They weren't stagnant. They were overflowing with raw untethered inspiration and full of fury.
I saw them live in 1997 and from the first minute they paralyzed me with the unearthly sound and excellent voice. All the V.O.D. albums are perfect. Hardly to find any weak song. This video is probably the best HC live gig ever recorded.
I’m not fan-boying per se, but I fucking love these guys. I just watched this back to back twice and it’s so fucking good. I stopped to listen the album versions of several songs just to validate that these might be even better versions. Didn’t always agree with that but in many ways it’s hard to decide. I kind of wish Kennedy’s guitar was as loud as Baumbachs I think Flieshmann’s live sound is so ridiculously good. Brandon’s talent is he is always Brandon and Tim well Tim is the fucking man. Anyone who knows him knows what I am talking about. KEEP THIS BAND ALIVE. BUY THEIR MERCH SUPPORT THEM NOW AND IN THE FUTURE.
All I’m gonna say is the right track in baby for anyone that got to experience what this band was like in the mid 90s before they gained a lot of popularity I mean on a grander scale I’m telling you I never saw a crowd that was so excited and all unified and clearly all there to just sing along and fucking partyto these awesome songs like the energy it just can’t be replicated. It is the most amazing experience and I don’t even think the band members truly understand how amazing it was.
Their guitar style was so unorthodox during this period of Hardcore, it was like a breath of fresh air man. I ended up trying to learn how to play the entire album on guitar. Finally did it lol
What's the name of the song on the DVD menu screen on the Dead In NY DVD? I was trying to figure it out by Googling the lyric I was hearing. I found nothing.
Curtis Summerlin lol, i said the same thing. that opening is fucking bone crushing and it doesnt stop there. not a fan of the city but those fans did it right. tim told em to fuck the place up and wanted blood, he deff got that
when a clueless host introduces the headlining act.we really like it and don't want to slice their throat when they're on the mic abusing their captive audience screaming corny fucking bro-like C'mons. just trust me.
I'm looking for songs in thrash or metalcore style. Remember words "Master or faster" only(( Two voices in song's,thrash or speed metal with scroll voices. And repeat words "Master,Master". Who know this song, help me,please( Very, very good song👍Big TNX for all👍 Sorry for my bad eng language(
These guys were ahead of their time! Such an original sound. I got to see the twice in 1997.

They are so tight, they skip nothing. Tim's a beast.
They were always great musicians
I get goosebumps every time Element starts in at 4:18. God I would have loved to have been at this show.
Throwback when i was 14 years old. I got them from some magazine and I listen until to day I still love them.
For me it was their self-titled record man. I think it was because it was the first time I ever heard them. Up in Troy, NY just chillen. My man threw it on, I was like "who in the FUCK is THIS!?" Been a fan ever since.
I cut my teeth on Minor Threat, Bad Brains, Leeway, AF, Warzone, etc and this band was criminally underrated!

Underrated ? VOD ? Try Bloodsimple... THIS is underrated !
@vanZombie Yea. It's on Imprint. That album blows
I've always had a soft spot for this incredible vocal! Haven't heard this dvd for years and now the feeling of intoxication is back.
I was there both nights, and when they started playing Choke, I wasnt sure if I'd make it out alive. It was definitely worth the price of admission.
Was this at the Crazy Donkey in Farmingdale?
Envious

VOD songs keeps throwing banger riffs, one after another, you just don't know if you are going to survive the next one.
I've been waiting for 15 yrs to see this video....thx for the post
it's not THAT old
nroks ... No, I didn't clarify, meant the NYHC Documentary. this was there last album release
Still my favorite band!
Man, Tim has got to be up there with the best of the metal vocalists. He's fucking amazing.
Most under rated HC Metal bands ever....glad there last album brought them back... \m/

Saw them in 98. Opening for Anthrax they totally kicked ass . Probably the most skilled vocals in hardcore..
Criminally underrated band.
Just a very few bands can match the studio sound level to say the least, VOD by far being one of them. Amazing work by Tim as usual.
Comment ne pas aimer ??? VOD for life !!
Thanks for this post.Hope the mix is this good when they come to Toronto later this month!!

Omicron same as the melody chorus singing, nobody else was doing it in the 90’s hardcore days
Me too. I wish they'd rerecord the "Green Album"
@@kentreyfor a very long time I thought that album was called beneath the green.
