Because Santana now has the virtually unlimited sustain he always craved he's lost that yearning and hunger in his playing that pushed him over the edge. Wish he'd pick up an SG
santana kicks ass on this tune this is real music and it doesn't get any better than soul sacrifice and watch out for Santana the Cadillac men is back in town and he'll drive that guitar like a fine wine Cadillac that's fresh from the dealership and what a great tune bye Carlos.
Oh this is so good! May the band members and Carlos be healing well from Covid. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 Onto dancing....😆Karl is insane...a legend...loyal to Santana for soooo long 😊..I love you Carlos 🦢
Awesome performance all the way around! If not for listening to Santana's Se a Cabo in the ealy 70s, I may never have taken up congas & percussion. Santana's music is innovative and inspiring.
Just clik on the Woodstock version and you hear the diference, the fire, the passion are missing here. Carlos is a legend and has a incredible band but ...........
Great version! Everyone's gonna say the Woodstock version is better, but that legendary performance is one of kind. Couldn't be reproduced even if all the original guys were playing. Love it😘👍❤
The drummer here is very good, but the drummer at Woodstock is one of the greatest ever! His performance at Woodstock was the highlight of the entire 3 day event.
anyone being critical of the drum solo in this performance has not a clue. It's incredible and for the most part very easy for Denis to replicate the original plus add some cool things.
Michael Shrieve is on record that of all the times he's played Soul Sacrifice, Woodstock's drum solo was not the best he ever played it. It's the one that became iconic because it was captured as a great moment of Woodstock which as we all name became of historic record. However, comparing one drummer to the next as in competition is ridiculous because no musician stays where is. We are discussing two moments in time, both gone as soon as they came.
Look at how the audience has changed since 69. No naked hippies frying, no old gypsy women dancing, no stoner-circles, no indian sadhus, NO POT! All I see are a bunch of Banana Republic yuppies who probably don't own one single Santana album who probably showed up because they felt like they wanted more 'culture' in their boring lives.
Anyone who has seen the original woodstock footage obviously likes it better than this version. This is very good but nothing beats the sounds the original members created on that stage. It was just perfect harmony. Dennis Chambers killed it by the way.
this is good, but it's no woodstock. this feels like it was rehearsed, not like at woodstock where it was a jam. dennis chambers is great, but i prefered michael shrieves solo to this. plus some little stuff ticked me off, like the timbales playing during the rest near the end. but im picky
Nothing compares to the Woodstock performance. I checked it and found out that the snare drum kicking in is missing in all newer performances. Once Carlos plays with John Mc Laughlin he seems to be grounded, all the mainstream stuff especially with all the pop artists is pure crap. He should have stopped playing 30 years ago. He is sounding like his own music box.
You may take it with however many grains of salt that you wish. That the brown acid that is circulating around us isn't too good. It is suggested that you stay away from that. Of course it's your own trip. So be my guest, but please be advised that there is a warning on that one, ok?" bummer bummer...
Michael Haller, I recommend the version of the concert in Mexico in 1993, it's here on RUclips, it's better than the one in Woodstock, the speed of Raul Rekow and Karl Perazzo is brutal
When you are this legendary, even a missed note isn't a missed note, it's simply a change of the original.
Six Feet Under! RIP David Brown.
Santana Soul Sacrifice Live in Tanglewood 1970 that was raw music, pure emotions and the best drums skills.
Every time I watch that video I want to cry, its like heaven
Ohhh. I feel badly for saying this...but...this is a PALE imitation of Soul Sacrifice. Totally lacking in energy...
literally every artist is talented in the group man to see Carlos Santana live is a dream
Woodstock had the energy of the sixties and the passion, hard to beat the original...
Timeless
❤
That woodstock performance will never be replicated,One of the best all time classic live performance.
La clásica de la historia.
The outstanding genius of 1969 only enhanced to beyond technology..LOVE IT!!
That´s what I call BLACK MAGIC MUSIC !!!
Because Santana now has the virtually unlimited sustain he always craved he's lost that yearning and hunger in his playing that pushed him over the edge. Wish he'd pick up an SG
Dennis, Raul and Karl...just perfect!
Ah the great originals playing together. The best!
santana kicks ass on this tune this is real music and it doesn't get any better than soul sacrifice and watch out for Santana the Cadillac men is back in town and he'll drive that guitar like a fine wine Cadillac that's fresh from the dealership and what a great tune bye Carlos.

This song clears my head....just want to move with the vibes!!...outstanding!!!! as usual!!
Great musicians never play the song the same way. You can never duplicate Woodstock. Carlos is like fine wine better with age.
Ohhh. I feel badly for saying this...but...this is a PALE imitation of Soul Sacrifice. Totally lacking in energy...
Just clik on the Woodstock version and you hear the diference, the fire, the passion are missing here. Carlos is a legend and has a incredible band but ...........
I have this on DVD! It is awesome!
SANTANA 1970..........EL
VERDADERO FILLING Y
EL INSUPERABLE SOLO
DE MICHAEL SHRIEVE.....👍😎
I listened to this once. Liked it, then hit replay to hear it all over again! It's so good!
Na na na na na na na na nanananaa
man I love listening to Santana....that guitar is the best
Just incredible, Santana delivers!
La bateria que baaaarrrrrrbaro!!! Me encanto!
I love this drummer too. Great with Karl and Raul 🙏
they upgrade this music for a new level, perfect
Santana is a true artist... true artists are in a miss nowadays
One of my favorite songs by Carlos!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
muchas gracias brother!
viva santana
i dont see what you guys are bummed about. this is pretty fucking amazing, and im digging that drum solo
only one word: legendary!!!
man that drum solo was godly!!
Yes bring Mike Shrieve back!! I wonder if anyone else can perform that drum solo like him. He was the Gene Krupa of his time.
Yes, good song, that rocks. An every day title
In the new Woodstoock Blu-ray, you can find more.
Great version! Everyone's gonna say the Woodstock version is better, but that legendary performance is one of kind. Couldn't be reproduced even if all the original guys were playing. Love it😘👍❤
Re king?? Carlos is talented that he puts in a bit of variation that's why he's one of the best guiatarists in the world just awesome
The drummer here is very good, but the drummer at Woodstock is one of the greatest ever!
His performance at Woodstock was the highlight of the entire 3 day event.
That's! A real drum solo!!!!!
Excelent Song!
Increíble combinación de ritmos !! 👍🏼
Sublime stuff
SANTANA ever forever the best! Immortal performance!
anyone being critical of the drum solo in this performance has not a clue. It's incredible and for the most part very easy for Denis to replicate the original plus add some cool things.
Great Carlos!
feliz navidad Puerto Rico!!! yay! :)
Agreed!
and it needs Shreive!
saw the original group in munich, germany, 70, miss greg rollie
amazing
freakin loved it!!
great performance by all on stage
the drummer is amaaaazing
LEGENDARY
espetacular carlos santana
Great percussion.
DENNIS CHAMBERS KICKS ASS!!!! a great solo as always
@alakazam365 That's because 1, it was a P-Bass at Woodstock and 2, it was David Brown playing at Woodstock.
yes! coltrane shirt FTW
I like the woodstock version better. Not saying this one is awful, I added this one on my favorites as well.
Impresionante!!!!
shit solo after 5th minute..i was waiting for that legendary solo
1000th like
very good exelent
just epic
Error: PERCUSSION OVERLOAD😂😂 awesome stuff
Bring Mike Shrieve back!!
it's not the same without the woodstock drummer Mike Shrieve...and without people, who live this music
@alakazam365 yes, bass and drums had more soul but Santana is keeping his feel and his tone is amazing as always
chambers is awesome but 69' was so powerfull i cant even explain..
chingon!!
LA CLAQUE !
WOWWWWW
Michael Shrieve is on record that of all the times he's played Soul Sacrifice, Woodstock's drum solo was not the best he ever played it. funny thing..i saw an interview w/mike and he commented that he wasn't thrilled w/his drumming at woodstock...i thought he was great
at the 3:20 mark the drummer, goes stone cold hard on em!!! off the chain!
That's Dennis Chambers?
Dennis Chambers wat a drummer
Santana
for sure, for sure! woodstock is the best!
Look at how the audience has changed since 69. No naked hippies frying, no old gypsy women dancing, no stoner-circles, no indian sadhus, NO POT! dude thats dennis chambers o.O!
this is good, but it's no woodstock. this feels like it was rehearsed, not like at woodstock where it was a jam. dennis chambers is great, but i prefered michael shrieves solo to this. plus some little stuff ticked me off, like the timbales playing during the rest near the end. but im picky
Nice but, Woodstock performance was a lot better ....raw and bold. The best drumming I've ever seen to date.
is the drummer denis chambers?
Yes
may be my men may be but still rocking really hard
Dennis Chambers on the drums
Great Drummer
Denus Chambers is a super drumer.
lacking the drummer from woodstock
But still cool

So true
you are so stupid, this is not as good as the original band but is always a good performance
Need the acid!
You may take it with however many grains of salt that you wish. That the brown acid that is circulating around us isn't too good. It is suggested that you stay away from that. So people know, the drummer is Dennis Chambers.
