I Dig Ohio there's nothing inherently wrong with that. think about it: if it is priced high, it is not only a value to her but a *huge* value to an entire industry, not only of private sentimental value but of actual historical/cultural value.
jxm1677 No. It was just a replacement value for a framed picture as part of the household items. No one offered to buy it for that amount. She will need a separate rider on her insurance now for the actual value.
Yeah.. this is how the insurance payed me 150 dollars when my fathers vintage Fender Stratocaster got stolen. Can't blame the insurance though, I should have got it taxated.
oltedders yoi dont get what he meant. those were insurance appraisers not buyers. they tell her its fake so if it gets destroyed or stolen they only pay out 200 dollars instead of 200 thousand. get it?
britewire s that sucks. yep always best to have valuables appraised yourself, that way you get the right amount of insurance. a general appraiser peobably isnt trained to even tell the difference on something like that.
I might be upset about selling it because of the sentimental value. But on the other hand, it would freak me out knowing I had something that valuable hanging on my wall. I would just be constantly afraid that something bad might happen to it. So yeah, sell it!!
I think the reason why she started crying was not because of the money. The surprise in her eyes was the money but the tears might have come from how much she underestimated the value of her family's history through this painting. The painting is bad ass. Given to her by her grandma? They had to have been close...roots run deep. A lot of emotion going through this lady's discovery and I'm happy she knows the value of this masterpiece. What I got out of this segment was family, respect, and a part of history which was not easy or forgiving. Great post. Thank you.
It is sentimental bullshit on my end probably because I liked this segment. Thanks for bringing in reality it got me and I started LMAO. Seriously. Great painting sold for student loans - what a waste.
Is that really what most people think of when they think of having large sums of money? Is money the meaning of life? You take loans to study, in order to get a "good job" that usually pays somewhat higher than a practical job. Then you need to work in an office with people you have nothing in common with and do the same tasks over and over. All this is just so you can live in a house and have a car while dreaming of doing something else with your life. The meaning of life ,in my point of view, is making the most of your limited time and finding something that fulfills you. Not making you wish you were somewhere else and doing something else.
I truly believe this girl was meant to have this through all the passing down through family members.. she must really need it! Grateful girl I wish her the best x
Looking at this on the surface, it surely hits her that this painting is worth a mint and is going to change her life. The reality is that her Grandma likely knew that the painting was worth something, and bequeathed it to her, I take her tears as being her understanding that someone she loved, cared enough to want her to have something so significant that she made sure she had it when she was gone. This isn't just about money, it's what family do for each other, and she knows it. I'd ball my eyes out too if my Grandma left me such an item, knowing that she wanted to make my life better and on my own terms.
She truly was not anticipating that value.....Delightful surprise! Love Antiques roadshow for these types of hidden Gems!! Thank You stonecrestmovies for taking the time to share with others! Cheers From Ohio
It is a beautiful picture, you know the artist appreciated and respected the subjects when he was interested in portraying them in a hostile scene! Congrats lady! I hope if you had to sell it the money made your life easier!
This pops up every now and then, and I get so choked up every time. Her immediate reaction, and then looking up to her granmother is so emotional. I'm so very happy for her, she seems like an incredible woman.
That was so nice to see! Obviously she was in total disbelief because she couldn't take her eyes off the painting, it's like she was seeing it for the first time.
nice to see her first reaction... So.. I can't hang it up. And then she gets really emotional. She obviously loves this painting, bless her with the decision what to do next with it...
You are looking at raw, true human emotion. Almost like her being told there was a death in the family and the shock and her new reality are hitting her in waves,,, the news of the value is too much to comprehend at once and her reaction is beyond awesome because its so real. Also the lady in the background at the 2:55 mark is also showing true emotion as she apparently just got caught by security for shoplifting a Norman Rockwell and putting it in her cart.
I got the vibe that she had been kind of struggling lately with money, such as hard time paying rent or mortgage (I could be wrong) and it was like an angel came down and she just thought of every way it could make her life less stressful
Holy shit-balls..... I think personally.....would LOAN it to a museum....this way it would always be in a controlled environment and safe from damage. Plus hundreds of others can enjoy this....its a beautiful painting
yeah, if your wealthy and the value would not be life changing for you, then it is a good idea. She can still sell it to someone that shows it around responsibly
randy roti I wouldn't sell or loan it - make a number of reproductions and sell these for a combined price of 500k, that way you get money AND keep the painting!
That's what some billionaires do. They buy these super expensive paintings and put them in a musuem, or they will build their own. One of the Walton daughter does that, good on her.
I can't help but feel really happy for the woman who owns the painting, i'm certainly not a rich man and that sort of money would be life changing for me.
Alpine_Vulcan If you have a genuine Charles Russel it will have a similar or higher value depending on the subject and condition. Russel is more well known than Farny.
The one I have is smaller, way less detail and water color. My grandparents owned some buildings MT that they donated to I believe the county after they retired. One was turned into a museum that featured a some of his works. If I understand correctly the works were donated or loaned by a wealthy rancher but, the works eventually got moved to another museum and he gave a painting to my grandparents as gift for their donation.
That’s painting will fetch far more than 300,000... just look at it. It’s not only an amazing work, it’s even more rare that it is done objectively and not propagandized. Fabulous!
clearing your student loan, covering a terminally ill family members life insurance, getting a decent house etc... all of these things aren't going to get you "temporarily" happy or "pleasure". these will change your life for the good and certainly give you long lasting HAPPINESS.
First emotion is "Damn it" when she hears "Two hundred". Then comes the "thousand" and her expressions change instantly. Pretty nice. Say "thank you" to your grandma.
That's a life-changing amount of money, I can understand why she started crying to by honest. That's enough to buy a house of your choice in somewhere like the hills of France and live comfortably renting out guest rooms in your basement to tourists or something like that for the rest of your life. 200k-300k+ is a LOT of money if you use it right.
And here I am, self taught at drawing and painting, I have painted for many years, sold about 15 at an opportunity shop, but all the time through the years the only one who saw my work was me. :( I hope to one day get recognised. Congrats to this woman though.
Good for her happy I hope that amount of money changed her life. Billionaires and Millionaires keep the money for themselves they don't give a shit about others but one life can be changed with way less than what these people have.
"Troll" is internet slang; it has existed for a very long time outside the internet as well, and does not age. God damn uneducated normies, always trying hard to pretend they are integrated in meme culture, while they browse 4Chan and Reddit.
Inherited lots of paintings and antiques from my grandma. It's so sad that her things were scattered around and I have to buy it back from cousins who decide to sell it to someone else. I wonder what worth how much among her things.
Makes me wonder if those people who gave her an initial appraisal even knew who the artist was. Or if they did, man they are ripping off people who don't know what they have.
"So, I can't hang it up. That's too much." I don't think she's thinking about the money, as much as she's thinking about the fact that she can't hang her grandmother's painting up anymore. With something being this valuable and her not having a proper home to put it in, she'll definitely have to sell it/donate. I think the pain in her eyes is the fact she knows she'll have to give the painting up now. I think deep down inside, she was hoping it was worth a lot less so the decision wouldn't be this difficult and she could just keep holding onto it.

I hope she doesn't ever sell it! That is an important family heirloom. Money comes & goes, but that painting won't.
You can see waves of emotion keep hitting her with realising the different ways in how the money will help her.
She gonna blow all the money
shoes
Nonpareil1710 or student loans. Geez.

I dig...you are one sad sad soul.
I Dig Ohio there's nothing inherently wrong with that.
think about it: if it is priced high, it is not only a value to her but a *huge* value to an entire industry, not only of private sentimental value but of actual historical/cultural value.
Genuinely selfish. Not a word of thanks.

Stephen Ward everyone should be able to relate to this... 👏
Awesome! You know those guys that said it was worth $200 were trying to rip her off.
jxm1677
No. It was just a replacement value for a framed picture as part of the household items. No one offered to buy it for that amount. She will need a separate rider on her insurance now for the actual value.
[jxm 1677] Possibly but if you listen closely she states that the first appraiser thought it was a print of an original painting.
Yeah.. this is how the insurance payed me 150 dollars when my fathers vintage Fender Stratocaster got stolen. Can't blame the insurance though, I should have got it taxated.
oltedders yoi dont get what he meant. those were insurance appraisers not buyers. they tell her its fake so if it gets destroyed or stolen they only pay out 200 dollars instead of 200 thousand. get it?

That's the look of someone whos life just changed.
rawdog42 ... thanks to a painting
A life's course dictated by a painting...............fucking money
As Post Malone would say CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!😂🤣😃😄😅
That's poetically said... 😁😁😁
for $200 Id hold onto a family heirloom, for $200,000 FOR SALE!!!!!
I might be upset about selling it because of the sentimental value. But on the other hand, it would freak me out knowing I had something that valuable hanging on my wall. I would just be constantly afraid that something bad might happen to it. So yeah, sell it!!
Hell yeah.
Sell it and get a print, let the bored and wealthy have their toys.
@nordy259 Well of course you would. People today don't value anything.
lets see here a painting or paying off a mortgage hmmm think I have my priorities in order
I love her reaction..always brings tears to my eyes..im so happy for her
i am having the same reaction!
always ? how often do you watch video ?
I watched this one prolly 20 times..lol..u run into certain videos more often
do not fall into loops man , it will destroy your life. sadly from experience :(
Yes, it was a sublime reaction, instead of the woos and over-the-top cheering.
This girl just sitting there like the whole time like, "imma bout to blow your damn mind" lol
Nolan Olson hahahahaha yes
Thinking the same thing
I think the reason why she started crying was not because of the money. Kuchi Kopi no she hasn't
It is sentimental bullshit on my end probably because I liked this segment. Thanks for bringing in reality it got me and I started LMAO. Seriously. Great painting sold for student loans - what a waste.
Or you know, she was getting 200k minimum for a piece of painting. Shit, i would cry too if she was me
what a long-winded and stupid way of saying her tears was bc of the money
Nah fam it was because of the money
my nan left me her false teeth.

Exactly what I was thinking

Aww. Her reaction is priceless. I’m so happy for her ❤️
Looking at this on the surface, it surely hits her that this painting is worth a mint and is going to change her life. It's a lovely piece and I'm glad she didn't sell it for $250. That's an amazing price for a gouache painting. 💖
yeah I'm thinking part of the reason she started crying was due to relief as well, relief she didn't sell it for such a low price.
It was a general house insurance appraisal, had NOTHING to do with selling it.
That should read... NOT interested in portraying them in a hostile...
Of course that should have been non-hostile! Apologies.
It's amazing you can see she had a realization that her grandmother really left her with a blessing!
This pops up every now and then, and I get so choked up every time. Her immediate reaction, and then looking up to her granmother is so emotional. I'm so very happy for her, she seems like an incredible woman.
This money will help her. You can see she is in a struggle. God bless her heart ♥️
I enjoyed hearing your little budgerigar chirping, it reminds me of when I had two budgies
It is SO NICE to see someone get a really good surprise.
FANTASTIC you can tell she is perfectly genuine in her reaction and deserves every penny.
Such a sweet and beautiful woman, I'm so happy for her!!!
aw what a sweetheart
what a genuine reaction and lovely lady, so nice to see these real moments of genuine suprise
I’m so soppy. I cried watching this as well
me too, and yes it was moving.
They really need to have an AED available for moments like this.
she so sweet she deserves every penny
From $250 to $250,000.00
sorry, but i heard 200 to 200,000
nowvoyagerNE worth 200 at first then 250, and between 200K and 300K at auction
People like her deserve good things happening to her
best I can do is 20 dollars. And I'm taking a risk here.
Lol
You need to think about how we need to profit off of this too
Beautiful and genuine, good for her.
Her reaction is one of the best I have ever seen.
Her reaction to this painting being passed down to her, and worth so much, is humble, gracious, and wonderful.
Peoples reactions on ARS are what really makes the show and hers was priceless.
that grandmother just gave a second boost to her lineage
well done grandma
I like the fact that she said holy shit...
Good for her and grandma! I enjoyed hearing the birds during this too :)
I love how she's being quiet, just milking the emotions :)
You are looking at raw, true human emotion. Almost like her being told there was a death in the family and the shock and her new reality are hitting her in waves,,, the news of the value is too much to comprehend at once and her reaction is beyond awesome because its so real. Omg! That's amazing. Im so happy for her^°^

randy roti - Maybe if you were a millionaire you could do this, but that type of money can really help some people.

“That’s so much”
She’s so cute.
"That's so much"...really nothing like genuinely sweet people.
Good television is knowing when to shut up. The appraiser was perfect. The scene was set and she let it play out. Bravo.
Wow she's sweet. Glad she got it. That's gonna improve her life. I don't know if i could part from it though
thats so much. really is shes a humble lady.
Lovely reaction from a lovely lady
Whatever the opposite of a heartbreak is, that's what we have just witnessed happen to her.
I can't help but feel really happy for the woman who owns the painting, i'm certainly not a rich man and that sort of money would be life changing for me.
The appraiser lady actually works at the McDonald's next door. She just wanted to play a practical joke on that poor woman.
Yes genuine reaction, and great to see.
Wow that probably totally changed her life. Good for her.
Simply awesome. I love videos like this
Ur comment was mad bro, you said this will be nostalgic in 10 years to the Xbox avatar music and 10 years has passed and it is, you are a legend
Awesome job Longboots! That is a gorgeous painting.
I'd know what to say--THANKS GRANDMA!
The painting is beautiful!
Charlie Russel? I didn't realize he was as well known, I have a Russel.
Is it as nice as this one?
Alpine_Vulcan

Russel is huge in Western art. Congrats on owning one.
Alpine_Vulcan ill give you $250 for it 😂😂
That’s painting will fetch far more than 300,000... just look at it. It’s not only an amazing work, it’s even more rare that it is done objectively and not propagandized. Fabulous!
Feel so happy for her... Sweet money for a sweet girl.
Im so happy for her!!
I wish the appraiser would have built up the suspense better.
Rene Prado
"mhmm yeah I would say 200 - 300...
...
...
...
..THOUSAND!!"
Manu.MND exactly this!!!
200 to 300 hundred.... thousand.... cents.... canadian
Her reaction = ❤️❤️❤️
She’s gorgeous.. Lucky woman.
Stunning art!
A really beautiful painting, regardless of the value!
I'd keep it, it's such a beautiful painting. Also who knows, the value could go up in the future.
Yup, that is life-changing money. Good for you.
Love vids that are pure happiness! Good for her!!
"... I'm just fucking with you, it's worth about 5 bucks."
I'm so happy for her!
Thanks, grandma!
I am very happy for her. I wish this would happen to me too
Her reaction is as priceless as the painting.
Awwww!! Good for her.
you see kids? money does buy happiness:)
Temporarily. And if it is temporary it's not happiness, it's pleasure.
Dub in this world yes
It really does just people are stupid
clearing your student loan, covering a terminally ill family members life insurance, getting a decent house etc... all of these things aren't going to get you "temporarily" happy or "pleasure". these will change your life for the good and certainly give you long lasting HAPPINESS.
Money may not buy happiness, but it definitely lets you chose your own brand of misery.
I hope to one day get recognised.
Congrats to this woman though.
Good for her happy I hope that amount of money changed her life. Billionaires and Millionaires keep the money for themselves they don't give a shit about others but one life can be changed with way less than what these people have.
Your arms must have been killing you recording this
OMG IM SO HAPPY FOR HER
I was waiting for the expert to say 200,000 to 300,000....... pennies. My troll friends have destroyed me.
Hey why are you saying troll in 2018
200,000 pennies is still 2000 dollars, I'd be really happy with that.
2000-3000 isn’t bad.
"Troll" is internet slang; it has existed for a very long time outside the internet as well, and does not age.
God damn uneducated normies, always trying hard to pretend they are integrated in meme culture, while they browse 4Chan and Reddit.
skeletonboi no i think they realise that but it does in fact age and is not is as much general usage as slang anymore
Inherited lots of paintings and antiques from my grandma. It's so sad that her things were scattered around and I have to buy it back from cousins who decide to sell it to someone else. I wonder what worth how much among her things.
Just by searching some of his paintings are worth hundreds of thousands of dollars. I hope she got a good amount for it.
I bet she just wish her grandma was with her to hear that. What a life changer
Makes me wonder if those people who gave her an initial appraisal even knew who the artist was. Or if they did, man they are ripping off people who don't know what they have.
She could sell it to a museum or heritage society where she and others could continue to enjoy it.
I hope she doesn't ever sell it! That is an important family heirloom. Money comes & goes, but that painting won't.
idk why but her reaction made me cry
damn man, that's her fuckin mortgage. This old painting that her grandmother hung up will change the rest of her life. Crazy shit.
That's a beautiful picture!
For a second I thought she was going to throw up all over the painting
