Very interested in this! I am getting my license this weekend. I love older electronics, and this Yaesu is beautiful! I have to admit I have extremely limited knowledge about how it works and how to operate it, however I am very interested to learn. I plan on getting Tech and then the General license. Would this be a good one to start out with, or would I be jumping a few steps? Thanks!!

I have a ft101ee and doesn’t receive on any distance ... transmitting very good ... but receives on close range

HF is pretty technical, maybe get a hand-held VHF/UHF transceiver first and get used to operating procedures and etiiquette, you will still use it!
If it's not all solid state then it's hybrid!
