The Great Movie Ride was a dark ride located at Disney's Hollywood Studios, formerly Disney-MGM Studios, at the Walt Disney World Resort. The attraction employed the use of Audio-Animatronic figures, practical sets, live actors, special effects, and projections to recreate iconic scenes from twelve classic films throughout motion picture history. The attraction-which debuted with the park on May 1, 1989-was located inside the park's replica of Grauman's Chinese Theatre, one of Hollywood's most famous movie palaces. The Great Movie Ride closed permanently on July 15, 2017, it was replaced by Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway.

I was wondering if you could bring back ExtraTorrorestrial Alien encounter. I got a chance to experience that attraction in 2003 on it's closing year. and I have to admit it was really terrifying and traumatizing.
This is so amazing, I truly miss this ride! I do enjoy Runaway Railway, but The Great Movie Ride really FELT like the epicenter of MGM Studios... Like riding that changed the energy of the park and how you looked at it. Either way, I have to say this is an amazing recreation! So many great details, including the light being casted from the projector actually changing along with the video. SO COOL
Thanks for the comments. I try to get as many details that "feel right" as possible. Some from photo reference, most from memory, and then a hefty splash of embellishment. Agreed on Railway. I think it was a mostly fair replacement, being that it is still movie based, just animated. Your conclusion on TGMR being the epicenter is spot on. It was the glue that held the vision of the park together.
While I love MMRR, I do miss this ride. It really was one of a kind!

Oh, I thought I had commented, but how couldn't I have. GMR was one of my happy places, and although I am a HUGE fan of TCM and loved they took over at the end, nothing beats the original and that preshow. The Alien trailer gave me thrills. You can't make enough of these. The dust in the projector light, the doors open and ride vehicles going by takes me back. Thank you.
Agreed. Sadly it's closing adds another nail in the coffin of the studio production based attraction in Central Florida. If I'm not mistaken, Universal's Horror Makeup Show is the last one standing. Glad you enjoyed the details and thanks for watching.
wow! oh my gosh, the old preshow to Great Movie Ride! Ah man I loved this preshow on many movie trailers that foreshadow of what was coming for the attraction! It should a great golden age of movies. Man I miss this attraction.

Thanks for watching. In the future I would like to. At the moment, I don't believe so. These creations take massive amounts of research and time.
If I began that today recreating TGMR, I would not be able to upload the result (or any video) for another year. For now I'm keeping to simple ride scenes, one location or loops. Thanks for the question.
