When your reputation makes Indie devs ask customers to pirate his games instead of buying from G2A, You know You are into something
The thing was, buying from G2A through some law thing, made the developers have to give people legal keys. Which meant getting games of G2A not just didn't give money to developers, it made them actually lose money.
@@cyryl3827 To elaborate: the "law thing" was refunds. Games were bought in massive sales, using stolen credit cards and then sold on G2A for like half the actual price - still a profit for the seller of course - And since the games were officially bought from a credit card that the innitial owner had disabled, developers had to terminate the copies and refund the money spent on each game while the people selling on G2A got their money selling a product that didn't work because the copy of the game was already terminated. That's why nobody on G2A has a 100% trust rating.
@@L0RDLUK IT also depends on where you live. Here for example, even when they flag your account and or take the game away from your account, the Seller has to refund you.
I know it sound crazy but that is the law, been there done that. Some time gao, when g2a had massive commercials online and i diddent know what was going on with them and the cheap keys, got a few Games from them, even AAA games. 2 or 3 got taken away from my account. I got a message on steam and an Email that stated that i had bad Keys and that is was Flagged and so on.
I Then had a little battle with Valve, statin where i´m from and that we have a law here, even thought the keys might be stolen, i could not have known thaat / i bought them legally from this countrys point of view they needed to put the flag from my account, witch they did, it took a few weeks hence due to steam custome service but it worked, law is law.
I then had to excange a few mails with G2A but still i got my money back for the 3 Games, since by our understanding of the law it is their fault so they have to give the money back. We also have a 14 day refund law here that also is legit for digital copys ( that is where the steam refunds started like 2 years ago, here in Austria, because we have a law and when steam wants to be able to sell here they must obey ).
Also, like 4 years ago i bought a full price game on steam and i really diddent like it, i tryed to refund via the steam support in witch they denied at first with their strict no refund pilicy, took me a few weeks again, then sendt them a mail from my lawyer that stated that their company must give refunds in the first 14 days i bought the game and that i wanted a ferund like not even 2 hours into the game. 2 days later i got my refund.
Its the same with onlineshops here, its not just the law they have their shop in that counts, also the law of the country they sell it in.
@@cyryl3827 It's not a "law thing". It's called a chargeback fee.
TLDR: Games/Keys bought by stoled credit cards > Owner of the card terminate card and gets a refund > dev pays the refund + chargeback fee/service
@@cyryl3827 It's more chargeback fees. When the credit card holder flags the g2a card theft and the bank refunds the money, the bank charges all the vendors of the fraud sales a fee for it, and Steam nearly always passes these straight on to the developers. So the money has to be given back and with a fee on top.
The developers however have zero legal obligation to honor the stolen keys. Ubisoft and Devolver are famous for cancelling any keys bought from g2a, and ubisoft is particularly unapologetic to anyone who complains about it.

g2g is g2a but more transparent, they mainly sell stolen accounts at really low prices, but thats it.
Theres no shady subscription service, no loot boxes, and hell, no real holiday events.
Its just a direct seller to customer marketplace.
Both owned by the same guys (also kinguin) so it’s the same scam. G2g sells games on kinguin and g2a and vice versa directly as „private“ sellers
I say scam but it’s mainly the private sellers that do sell stolen goods. That’s why instant-gaming is legitimate as they don’t allow reselling there and buy from the companies directly (or claim they do).
I deleted my G2A account when they tried to charge me £1 for the privilege of having account with them each month...

Don’t give them ideas
They already took that side of the website down for "maintenance". Probably from people abusing this. You're doing some fine work sir
G2A would be way more community backed if they only sold EA, Activision and Skyrim Special Edition(s) games
Great Idea
Hey, G2A employee here. At G2A, we actually don't sell/own any of the games we sell. We work as a marketplace, so basically, we just provide a platform and payment wall for traders that are able to sell their items on our platform; restricting the games to only EA, Activision, and Skyrim would destroy the current business model, and revenue would go down drastically.
@@szymi5747 it was a joke considering the context of the video...

just saw sentence is used in vid. lol
It legitimately is. I work tech support for a game company. Not only does a dev not get money from G2A, devs actually lose money all the time when purchases are made through them.
It cost serious money to investigate stolen keys, and in chargeback fees when banks need to refund a purchases made with a stolen card.
Not to mention the risk to your own accounts which G2A will provide no help on. Claiming its the devs responsibility
I can remember handling any number of cases where someone bought from G2A where the user ending up not even getting the damn game because it was stolen
@@TheGaboom i know becasue they have to actually replace the keys the "customer" buys when they obv. not working. kind of sick. i would update my abg and state that any purchase through G2A is not verified and will not be worked on in case of a non working key. will not solve the problem but will ppl make think twice if they wanna buy there.
@@Votexforxme They don't really have to replace anything, they lose money because a large portion of the keys on G2A are purchased by people using stolen credit cards, and the indie devs get hit with the chargebacks when people figure out their card numbers have been used.
@@Hudson316 they have to replace them. there an interview with a dev that say they have to replace them even if its through g2a.
@@Votexforxme No they don't. If a person buys a key from a grey market retailer the original dev has absolutely zero obligation to replace dodgy keys. Like, legally, there is ZERO connection between the developer and the dodgy key and keys are bought on G2A at the user's own risk. Hell, G2A don't even replace the damn keys unless you pay them protection money. One of the common issues with G2A keys is that the ones you buy may have already been deactivated if the dev is on top of things enough to track which keys were from which purchase and were able to shut off the ones related to credit card theft (it's kinda rare for an indie dev to be able to keep track of that, but it happens with some)
