It's one of the interesting consequences of how the Roman empire spread the Latin alphabet across Europe (in addition to later spread by other nations) and then speakers of different languages modded it to suit their own languages, since different languages use different sets of sounds, so it couldn't be applied directly. Welcome to linguistics, and I agree ,it is confusing, but there's a reason for it.
@Nick Paul I know that. I wasn’t even trying to “sound smart”. To my knowledge, the alphabet was introduced to Europeans when the Roman Empire was everywhere. Spiff: "We basically roughly slightly ahead of time when it comes to our government policies"
Me: yeah, sure, 59 culture per turn and 9 culture per turn are pretty close
he ment when monarchies were first established in the real world vs his "game time".
as a hungarian, i'm in love with the way you pronounce "Pécs"
for reference, it's supposed to be P (as in pancake) é (as the e in deja vu) and cs (as the tch in hatchet)
Well, you didn't have to be such a Pécs about it...
Why don't you spell it like you say it? Damn Eastern European languages are so confusing.
@@RobertMcBride-is-cool Different languages use the same letters to represent different sounds, so just because a spelling doesn't match up with how an English speaker would sound-out a word, doesn't mean it isn't phoenetic within the language the word comes from.
They kept using it, but I guess linguistic drift does some weird stuff. Sort of like how the Japanese were given the Chinese alphabet and the kanji aren’t pronounced the same most of the time. By the way, that was me trying to sound smart. I think I did a decent job.
@@RobertMcBride-is-cool You're missing a fun part about Eastern European languages: Poland and Hungary are historically great friends.
Sz in Hungarian is pronounced like English s.
S in Hungarian is pronounced like English sh.
S in Polish is pronounced like English s.
Sz in Polish is pronounced like English sh.
So, it's the complete reverse.
Random add on: Polish is Slavic, of course, while Hungarian is non-Indo-European and is distantly related to Finish and Estonian.
Spiff, you should look into how utterly broken you can make the production in the game as Germany. That or some other way of breaking the production system to spam out stuff. I know some of your exploits already increase the ability to make stuff, but I'd love to see one that's production-focused. Just a thought. Love your videos!
EDIT: Using something other than the pantheon exploit.
I have the minutemen protecting my coffee at all times. Paul Revere will let me know your coming.
This video convinced me that all the Korean StarCraft players just really WERE living that far in the future. What a world we live in.

Seems appropriate for this video.
Had RUclips up on the side. Realized I hadn't heard the Brits voice in a while. Was almost 10 minutes into an ad. Epic
There’s a pantheon witch increases your border expansion I would like to see how would it be if you duplicate it enough so your borders grow every turn
Is it a percentage change? Because if so then the exploit won't work
@@higharchbishopofteatasting6217 Correct. Only certain pantheon bonuses stack, and that's not one.
Ironically, its an extreme amount of faith that allows the greatest scientific achievements
how's it ironic?
zah fares religion and science are usually considered to be complete opposites, so one of them causing extreme growth in the other is ironic.
I don't know what you're talking about. You must keep faith in Spiff pur Lord and Savior to experience a perfectly balanced science development, so it's logical that more faith gives you more science.
@@RiverTheFluid
"religion and science are usually considered to be complete opposites"
I disagree
in the medieval ages of Europe, the monks where the learned and the people of science in monasteries
same goes for the Islamic golden age

having only just watched an anime called GATE this is literally the entire plot of the anime and I'm here for it
I wish every one of your civ 6 videos wasn't the same bug but I do salute you're tenacity and to have produced so much content but I mostly watch for the tea anyhow
Damnit, I’m a coffee goblin as well as a tea redcoat. I’d feel bad if I sacrificed any of my fav beverages for the other, and so Spiff is essentially tearing me apart.

I always wondered why ancient civilizations in fantasy settings always have super high tech far better than modern technology. Now I know.
The intro had me laughing so hard I almost spit out my coffee. I've been peeking out the window every thirty seconds since to make sure there are no red coats.
Three rounds in your conversion chamber haven't broken me.
