His hyperactive physical nature leads to incredible fitness, but also causes more wear and tear. He will experience more and more injuries. Federer had the most economical movement of the top 3. Djokovic is ultra careful with his body.
Nadal will be back, but in spurts.

Its nothing about his style. Its the disease, the super physical playstyle sure doesnt help BUT its not the primary reason. He tries to find ways to get around it and modify things to spare his legs, knees and he gets injured in the places he overworks with his solutions.

this man has won more men's singles slams than anyone (so far), despite a career ravaged by injuries. Despite having two other greats of the game to compete with in Novak and Roger, both of whom spent less time injured than Rafa did throughout their careers. Roger was injury free most of his career, it was only towards the end when he had serious knee problems. Novak has had his share of niggling injuries but nowhere near as many serious ones as Rafa has had.
I do think Novak will eventually overtake Rafa on slams. But to me, it's way more impressive winning 20+ slams with a broken body than winning 20+ slams whilst mostly fit, healthy and free from severe injuries. Rafa is just something else.

It is unbelievable that his career lasted this long. He's got nothing to prove anymore and sadly it's time Rafa hangs the racquet. Are u seriously comparing football and basketball to tennis. Those Sports have team mates supporting u all the time. U van get substituted if ur not 100%. Footballers play once maybe twice a week and around 90mins. Of course u are gonna have longer lasting players. Imagine trying to play tennis (like Murray did yesterday) for 5 hours and as consistently as they do each year. The great Tennis players like Serena, Djokovic, nadal, federer are some of the most dir als players ever to exist. I simply made a remark that I've never seen tennis players, outside of Roger to compete and still be in their peak, not just to play, but to compete for titles. I think part of the reason why is because of the ATP schedules, and I do think their must be some changes in the format, which will allow the players to recharge and rest. Those sports I've mentioned are also contact, collision sports, so don't diminish them just because they are teams and teammates, they take a toll on the body too, the likelihood of injuries in them is high.

Anyway: Djokovic is already the male tennis player with most Grand Slams (19) together with Federer, Sampras has won 14. Of course, Federer for me is still the GOAT, because he has won 8 times Wimbledon and 5 times the US Open. So Federer has won one single Grand Slam (and the most prestigious one by the way) as often as Nadal was able to win all three together (8 times). Amazing! But, of course, Djokovic is close to Federer with his 7 Wimbledon, 3 US Open and 9 AO.

    • @jay_kulina

He created most of those problems (especially the knee) with his playstyle during 2004-2009. And it led to 36 titles during non-prime (on average per player) tennis years. So he'll take it, if you ask him! If he wasn't running like a maniac who gotta save his family from mobsters + infinite changes of direction to get to balls, he wouldn't have so many issues later on. But if he didn't do that back then, he wouldn't have won even half of those 36 titles. And he kept playing like that later on, just not as much as those years. He then became more complete of a player, improved his serve some, his groundstrokes got more sophisticated and so on.

Mr. Nadal is a physical destroyed athlete because of so much joint injuries. That is one reason to acquire arthritis: There are many reasons to have arthritis. Mr. Nadal is a permanent disabled sport man: He is a seriously arthritic person. All of this is the result of repeated join injuries and so much synthetic anti-inflammatories, which all, ALL of them, are poison. The worst of all is that "the famous" Dr. Cotorra, has allowed for this to happen. Besides, all human beings after 28 years of age, the concentration of hyaluronic acid decreases rapidly in the synovial fluid and for this reason, human beings should not perform an intensive sport at the professional level such as Tennis after the age 30 years old. Basically, Mr. Nadal has destroyed his body. Even more, just like Mr. Federer and Mr. Djokovic, they all follow the same route. When Mr. Nadal is about 50 years old he will look like an 80 years old, but of course, with lots of money: He will be able to happily count his wealth, just like Mr. Federer and Mr. Djokovic, which probably is in the neighborhood of $300 millions of dollars.
