Three brilliant singers but Proby was the GIANT. Jack Good created a great West End theatre show. Very entertaining clip.
Actually, Shaky was, he was in ascendancy and would become one of the biggest stars of the 80s, against the odds, and eclipse Proby's success.
I thought the kid seemed to have an amazing voice but I don't know who he is. PJ Proby definitely had even if was self trained.
Proby has been peddling that I grew up with elvis shit since the day he died, yet no photographic proof that he ever even met him, Elvis has never mentioned proby in an interview.Both Proby and elvis were followed by photographers for year's and loved having their photos taken with everyone and anyone.Elvis never once mentioned Proby, the memphis mafia boys drop names constantly yet never mentioned pj Proby. There are 1000s of books and interviews on tv radio etc over the years and none of them ever mention Proby. Proby claims not to have just met him once but knew him well for a long time, childhood friend etc.

Looks like her but who knows for sure? But this looks like a young kid. Pauline would have been a teenager then. We are the same age and would have been 15 back then.
interviewer doesn't even seem to realize who Proby is! He couldn't have known much about Shakin Stevens, he was yet to be crowned King of Rock n Roll of the 80s

Thanks for sharing, this is great. Shaky made me chuckle at the end of singing there. He crosses his eyes - I remember sitting in the front row at the theatre on the first night and when shaky came to the front of the stage, he crossed his eyes at me, so i crossed mine back - made him grin 😄. My friend sonia who came with me on that opening night was obsessed with you Jim lol - she was reaching out to you, mascara streaming lol 😆 brilliant show, great times x
Great music. I worked at the Astoria theatre in 1977/78. Elvis was voted musical of the year. With PJ Proby.

yea.. great show.. watched it in January, 1978 at The Astoria
All of them mumbled their way through. Non of them could talk good. No zest to be there and chat in an interview. No throttle no going anywhere. Just plain dull. Shaky was so very overrated. Tim sounded nothing like Elvis. PJ was the star of this show. Fact!

Elvis was engaged to P.J. Proby's sister? Absolute bullshit. Neither did he know him since he was 13. The closest he probably ever got to Elvis was recording demo records for him. As for Shakin' Stevens, well I've heard from several people that he's not one of the nicest people you could meet.

That was not quite true…he was on a bigger wage as the established star name when they opened and they wanted to cut the wage bill is what I heard.
