A bit ironic when he got to "I memorise every line," seeing as he had to read words of song from a sheet! Still, an undoubted talent whose rendition of "I apologise" remains one of the all-time great vocal performances.
By coincidence, before PJ mentioned it was also thinking that the woman seated next to him resembled Priscilla Presley. In the 1960s PJ recorded demos of songs for Elvis before Elvis recorded them. In fact, I had only ever heard Elvis himself sing “Love Letters” before watching the video above. I have to think that Elvis listened to PJ’s demo recording of it before recording it himself. As someone who saw Elvis perform live I saw some similarities in both of their manners of speaking and gestures. PJ Proby reminds me a bit of Jerry Lee Lewis, both were somewhat on the wild side in their younger years. Coincidentally, both had their early tours of the UK cut short due to “scandals”.
he still owes me 4 pints from drinking with me in huddersfield in 1980, last time i saw him was in pub in linthwaite and he was living in a tent in a field, and he looked at me and remembered me, and i just blanked him and walked off
I thought PJ did very well considering he was inebriated and having to answer such personal questions regarding his finances. He kept his good humour, was honest, and was very sweet. Alcoholism is terrible and I'm also happy that he is taking better care of himself. He's outliving them all and still working hard!
It was creepy and embarrassing, but a composed woman always knows how to handle a situation like that. She was admirable, and very kind. God bless British ladies.
What a beautiful man.
Very attractive intelligent and immensely talented vocalist.
Very natural
💘 him.
Jimmy savilles m8 i aint sayin anymore
Painful to see a one-time legend sound like this
A true Star and the voice of a Giant Star
I started wearing bell-bottom trousers after P.J. did. In the mid 1960s, we bought our clothes from the same tailor.

This is a love letter straight from my heart ♥,.( I have more than "shrapnel " in there .bless you for, being, you.

OUCH !!! This could have gone horribly wrong. Glad he's sober now. Talented man.
Big! Big! Talent.
Cool in a wrecked sort of way! Voice still holding out.....that is a real star.
I believe the actor he couldn't remember was Dennis Price. (Jeeves the Butlah!)
Yes, though I don't think he 'dropped dead' as Proby puts it but died in hospital after breaking his hip in a fall.
Listen to what JG Sutton his previous manager and collaborator has to say about this person

What a talent and character. Sounds similar to Elvis Presley.
R E This guy used to sing songs that had been written for Elvis. That's how Presley's management knew if they wanted Elvis to do them.
Oh is this the one where he says "I've got a designer face"? Oh yeah, it is. LOL.
Best. I've watched it so many times!
@@stephaniekj3076 Jimmy boy!
I found this all rather sad. Derek Jameson handled him quite well. Thank goodness he came off the booze.

@@stephaniekj3076 'sweet'??? He was molesting that floor manager, and got away with it!
Forgets his words to such a simple song
Is this guy actually Elvis? He sounds and looks like him.
Whoa, that's creepy and embarassing . if that poor woman had been my daughter he'd have had 3 black eyes.
