James proby was a friend of my dads he stayed in our family home and told me lots of stories about him and Elvis And lots about his life he even sat and sung somewhere and a few other songs to us on our sofa I was young at the time didn’t realise who he was I feel very honoured to have him stay with us and share his life
This is up there with Little Richard and Jerry Lee Lewis' 1963/1964 Granada TV broadcasts and James Brown's 1964 'The T.A.M.I. Show' appearance as one of the greatest performances ever captured on film!
The versatility of this man is astounding...one of the greatest singers to ever walk the face of the earth. An amazing video, thanks so much for sharing it.👍🤠👍
PJ was the lead off act for Gene Pitney at the Toledo Sports Arena circa 1965. One of the most interesting performances in the history of live music. Saw him 50 years later as an Elvis impersonator. A remarkable entertainer. There’s no one quite like PJ!
Thanks PJProby still a Legend ❤🎉😢and what a Show. Outstanding Performance 🎭 your the one ☝️ and Only One who Could Sing Like This. And look that good. ❤🎉😢. Nice one Jim.
I saw this act in 1966 in New Zealand and was blown away by "A Change Is Gonna Come". Until this video turned up a few years ago, I thought I was going to die without ever hearing him sing it again. To this day, I've never been able to find out the titles of a couple of the songs he did in the complete show but which aren't in the TV version: one was something about "Memories That Never Fade Away", and the other contained the line "Talk About the Good Times". He's still my favourite singer!
It is I. My man..I married Trevor.our incredible son J.Marcus (deceased//).howdy TrevvProby .my Birthday.today..could not be better.ill never walk alone .with p.j.s voice.( Melting moments for eternity..my love to you🦜Jillian xoxoxo👽💖💘🖤
It wasn't that his trouser split. It was because his trousers tore at the knee, presumably due to wear, but he got a reaction from the audience, so after that his trousers split much more, intentionally. Older folk didn't like the flesh and the gyrations setting the teenage girls off. It was a time when promoters paid girls to scream and faint on cue, causing hysteria, but he crossed a line that caused people to think it was a direction they didn't want performers to go. As far as actual singing is concerned, he was only average. Not even 5% of Elvis's singing talent. But he put 200% into his performances.
His singing is divine and performance excitingly brilliant, he should have been allowed to continue, instead corrupt one’s behind the scene spoiled what would and should have been. So great a career to those early years
Genio!!
I wish monitors had been invented then so P.J. wouldn't have to cup his ear all the time! Not a good look and detracts from his superb vocals. Still he is the greatest singer I have ever seen live.
Greatest balladeer ever. Stunning performance. My favourite balled singer ever . The Bass depth of the intro of "You`ve Come Back" is truly awesome.
Absolutely incredible. Should have been a huge star till today.
Absolutely fantastic

Your assessment of this fantastic man is totally correct...I can’t find the words that describe what he means to me, even now as an older singer

He is a good singer he should have been more famous up there with elvis what went wrong was it because his trousers split
Definitely.

I love P.J. but sometimes when he's performing he behaves like s clown which spoils an otherwise superb singer, I love his Ballards
Hank?
@Dave Roberts He’d have us all believe that he had a screw loose but there could be nothing further from the truth.
I don't get it thats for sure. Tom Jones is the man and voice in my book❤
