THANK YOU!!!!! You have no idea how this helped me. I have the 1832USB version but had no idea how to connect everything. Thanks for all your work that went into this video!
Dude, you are a tremendous help!! Thanks so much. I've gone back and forth on mixers and settled on an X22222USB which is very similar to this one, and your video really was a gem. Thanks for the kind and precise way you described each feature. A huge help, again... Thanks
Many thanks for these videos. Just taken delivery of a QX1204USB so although I found out as much as I could beforehand, this got me up to speed very quickly. Little tip, for ease of access, I used an old laptop stand I had to raise the back of the mixer up, possibly far cheaper than a 'pro music' version
I tried using channels 5-8 for an additional mic and was not getting a signal at all. Is there any button that is needed to be pushed that I missed?

Mr, thanks for your explanation ! It's very simple, but you don't say nothing about the UBS cable back on the mixer. That's my problem. I got this USB cable connected back on the mixer to my lap top. It seems it dont do nothing. Can you give some explanation, what is useful to ?
This is great. As a 25-year radio guy, sometimes these little mixers confuse me. This helped a lot, but I was also looking for a mix minus configuration.
Very helpful. What I would like to see is you producing an actual session - not emphasizing the interview/program itself, but having the camera focusing on the mixer and on the computer screen. I'd like to see what buttons you push, what knobs you dial, etc., as you are doing the program. Perhaps also taking some video of how you get set up for a program (not in terms of cables, but in terms of sound levels, starting up programs, troubleshooting and the like. That would be EXTREMELY helpful -- and I don't think I've seen it anywhere else on RUclips.
Thank you! Why do the aux return/send FX knobs control the global volume of my effects even when I'm not using any aux sends/returns? And why do I get no FX on my Aux Send 2 unless I toggle FX to Alt3/4 (which are separate outs altogther), thus losing FX in my main mix?
Michael, would you be able to suggest which is the best output from the mixer going to a Tascam recorder? Also, could a further output be sent back to the computer via USB for recording to Audacity. Yes, two copies of recording. Your help would be appreciated. Thank you.
Hello Michael I have a question, I have a Microphone (Shure Beta58A), can I use it for studio recording, or do I have to pay a condenser one? And if so, which brand and model would you recommend for a condenser mic?
I think I have one of those lying about in the studio. It depends what kind of recording you're doing. That mic would be pretty good for drums, and guitar cabinets. But you'd really want condenser mics for overhead/room mics, acoustic instruments, and vocals. Though dynamic mics are also used for vocals, e.g. Sure SM7B.
Thank you! Great videos you have here. I´m considering buying a X1204, and this just pushed me towards the purchase :-) Let me ask: Is there any way to send the effects (like a reverb) to the headphones only? Thanks again!
Got mine just the other month. And I love it! The only issue that I have is the audio coming out from the mixer to the PC via the USB is mono. So the guy is correct when he said just you the Tape Out or Main Out to record your mixer.
Can you help me? I have the Xenyx 1204usb and I'm using one laptop. I call a third co-host on Gmail, that the live Spreaker stream hears just fine. I have my live callers call into a Skype number. When I have callers call into the Skype, I can talk to them, they can hear me, I can hear them, no issues but they're not coming up on the Spreaker stream. And that's where I need help.
The problem may be in your audio routing. I cannot say for sure, though. I would like to help, but without having access to your setup I can't be of much help.
@@HowIPodcast Damn. I really need help. I can't figure this out. Does it have to do with the source I'm selecting as my output? Should I select USB Codec? When I play something on Audacity with the output being through the computer my Skype guy can't hear it. When I select USB Codec as the output source, he hears it.
Yes it has preamps. I don't know if there is enough gain for the PR40. I don't have one, but my understanding is that it is a gain-hungry mic. You may need a cloudlifter for that one.
good day sir and thanks for your kindness > all what I want is how I can use all rhe outputs togother , for example I want to make rhe main output to my speaker and another output for second room speaker and I want to give a headphone to me and a headphone to the recording room ,is that possible? thanks again
What a great video, very informative! I do have a question though. Will the built in fx be send over the second aux out? I currently have the yamaha mg10xu which has one aux which is shared with the fx send. If i i use that to send the mic audio seperatly from the main mix to another device and use the built in fx this is only being aplied to the main mix but i need it to also be aplied to the aux out. Will the x1204 do that? So lets say i route the first xlr mic input to the aux out with the aux knob, when i apply an fx with the fx knob wil it also be send over the aux or only main mix? Thanks in advance!
Great video!! Liked and subscribed. I have a question regarding the sound bites. I know you said you have your computer audio hooked to 5/6 as Stereo. Where are you plugging the other side of the 1/4 inch cables? I'm using a macbook pro laptop so i'm sure how to get the sound input coming in. Thanks!
On the back of the board are two XLR outputs (L/R), two Control Room 1/4 inch outputs (L/R), and 2 ALT 3-4 1/4 inch outputs (L/R). I'm not sure what you want to know about the AUX sends. I think I covered them in this video.
I've watched so many videos on podcasting and sound mixers and this is by far the most clear cut and informative. Thank you!

What's the 2nd Aux -> Return level knob to the right of the aux return knob, it seems to feed return 1 back into send 1 and just a feedback loop?
This is great. As a 25-year radio guy, sometimes these little mixers confuse me. This helped a lot, but I was also looking for a mix minus configuration.
Mix minus is pretty simple on these boards. I'll do a video on that soon. Thanks for watching!
Great Video, nice, clear and informative.

Michael, another question, I just bought the Tascam DR-40. How do I hook this up to my Xenyx 1204USB to record my podcast?
heya great vid, did you do the one on mix minus? I can't seem to locate it
Can I go bare minimum and plug 4 mics into thr top and just use the USB on the back and plug right into my laptop

Do you know if this mixer has preamps to power dynamic microphones like heil pr40 or podmic?

your videos are great! I would like to learn how to get my settings so that the sound is better, it sounds like I am in a cave!

Great videos - I'm learning a lot!
Thank you very much! I'm glad you found this helpful.
One other thing: I'm curious if the XLR Main out gives a better signal quality than a 1/4-in jack main out . . .
I would say no. Not anything that you could detect. The XLR outs are primarily for sending to an amplifier and then to speakers.

No. It does not send the built in FX through AUX 1. At least I cannot get it to do so.
This video helped me a lot! Thx man

Mine will be shipping soon. What's the pros and cons of digital recorder vs saving to computer?
Jason Downey Thanks for watching. I discuss your question in the video about the Tascam DR-05 ruclips.net/video/LKeLlBv1emw/видео.html
Hi thank you for the info but where do I plug headphones into? That’s the only thing you didn’t talk about haha
There is a 1/4 jack labeled "Phones". Top right quadrant.
he says he does not use the usb.... trying to wrap my head around tht.
I use the usb on main pc.. and i use 7/8 for my laptop
I did everything you did and my effects are not working 👀
GOOD DAY SIR I WANT TO ASK ABOUT OUTPUTS AT THE BACK AND ALSO ABOUT AUX, THANKS ALOT
On the back of the board are two XLR outputs (L/R), two Control Room 1/4 inch outputs (L/R), and 2 ALT 3-4 1/4 inch outputs (L/R). I'm not sure what you want to know about the AUX sends. I think I covered them in this video.
I love this video!!!
I get loads of line noise over the usb track, anyone else the same?
my interface is bheringer xenyx x1204 usb
