The director of Duel Links said they're using it to gauge how much interest there is in a physical release of Rush Duel in the west, but given how they've been treating it, it almost feels like they're sabotaging its chances. Though my biggest complaint is probably that due to being in Duel Links, it incorporates Skills into the game, which means even if we did get a release, people who got interested in the game from the digital version might end up alienated by the different rules. Given that the Go Rush game was free to play, I wish they would've just made that into its own dedicated Rush Duel mobile game instead, since being exclusive to the Switch is arbitrarily limiting the audience it could reach.
I also remember the Battle Royale game on Switch had a survey in it that was also to gauge interest. But weird they still seem to be in a phase of "feeling things out." But yeah, Master Duel was a big win with how it came to several platforms, so I think that'd also be great for more games going forward.
Tbh, skill wise, its actually kinda good, it gives certain decks and strategies some chance to shine, because, as most people playing rn can see, the strongest deck since release is still beatdown, or as they call it, aggro, which is just dragias + other strong monsters with a generic skill that the deck doesnt even need. But even though thats the strongest deck, theres still both version of gakutos deck, yami and blue falcon, which both use the skill to gain an edge over the beatsticks. Theres yugas accel road skill, which does the same to his lv 5 and 6 spellcasters. The romin skill that either search her spell, or gives her a good hand. Or mimis that helps her aqua light monsters become bigger. And also dragons ressonance, that even rhough it was the most used, since it was f2p and versatile deck, it still lost the last kc. Imo, i dont think putting it in a app of its own would have worked, it would have ended like cross duel really. And for md, it would have made the game unplayable on mobile, as it is now its already edging that, it took them almost 2 years to "fix" the lag on mobile, which made the game unplayable, the gamenis still kinda laggy depending on which field acessory you/opponent uses (fuck anyone using the slifer and cynet ones), imagine adding a completelly new format and cardpool. Konami just needs to pump out more cards for tickets and cardtrader, like they did the beast gear archetype, instead of putting everything on boxes that releases every 1 to 2 months apart. And also fix that roa skill, like, wtf, why make a skill that changes depending if you are on odd or even turns, and make odd turns a literal -1 with no payoff?
I’m gonna get pissed if it stays exclusive to Asia because the people of Konami are garbage at gauging interest. Imagine turning down free money basically and being like “huhhh I’m not sure if the west wants a streamlined version of a complicated game that children don’t really play…hmm…”
I guess a better analogy would be that Rush Duals is like a completely New and Deferent Flavour of the same Soda Brand. BTW I also forgot to mention that I also like the layout of the Rush Dual Cards. With the Requirements on the Top and the Effects on the Bottom of that.
Rush duel reminded me the times when I loved playing YuGiOh with others. Mainly because you're guaranteed to get a 2nd turn since it's almost impossible to OTK, and each turn doesnt take 5+ minutes to resolve.
To start rush duels in duel links you need to get DM world to stage 10 then you must summon five monsters in 1 duel to unlock yuga after that you unlock rush duel format. Currently rush duels meta is mostly Dragon caster as viable and powerful decks and game changing packs havent been released yet.
Could still be interesting to start. I've just been procrastinating, lol, and at this point I feel like saving it for a stream. But very interesting and good to know!
Not only did the Rush Duel switch game not get the content updates japan did, there's a whole, second Rush Duel switch game that so far hasn't been released outside of japan. I only recently got back into tcgs and love the rush duel format in the game so much that I'm going to start duel links just for the rush duels, but I'm also crushed to know there's no english physical cards, no content updates for the game that sold me on the format, and no translation for the game's sequel in sight.
The sad part of Rush Duels is there are people, especially in the DL community that absolutely refuse to give the format a fair shot. Hating it because they think it's cooler to hate it
Rush Duel would be absolutely amazing. IF they treated it like what it is, a separate and unique card game. I WANTED to play Rush in Duel Links, but I absolutely hate Duel Links so I'm not grinding until I get to stage 10 and unlock Yuga. I didn't even know they made an explicit Rush Duel game until THIS YEAR. If they're trying to gauge interest they need to throw it in MD or just send out a poll on Twitter. Bc Duel Links is already a comparatively small chunk of the player base. Idk how many times I've heard people at my locals talk about wanting a physical way to play Rush Duel here, it's so frustrating.
I've fallen in love with the Dice cards in rush, cuz in Masterduel playing a dice deck is a death sentence cuz of Solemn Judgment, Baronne, etc. but gambling has a chance with Rush,
I really want to Rush Duel to come to the US bc my favorite archetype (E•HEROES) is now being added to the game. Now I have to wait for it to come to Duel Links
Konami is also sabotaging Rush on Duel Links. Very little has come out with since September, with only one main and mini box. There hasn't been another main box in 5 months.
2:29~3:17 Turns out that in the OCG (the original Japanese version of the game), you can use Master Duel cards in Speed Duels, not just Speed Duel cards. Which makes the fact that TCG Speed Duels only allow Speed Duel cards confusing, and I think that's one of the biggest reasons TCG Speed Duel flopped as hard as it did. If they change TCG Speed Duels to allow Master Duel cards, like in Duel Links, I think people would be much more willing to play them.
I so want to get the cards I loved playing it in the switch game and Duel Links it's such a fun way to play Yu-Gi-Oh and it's cool to have mutiple versions of the game
I think that Rush duel format has a lot of interest among TCG players. Me and my friend's actually printed proxy Rush duel deck's (with English text) and since then we completely replaced playing speed duel with rush duel. The format is so much more fun and the peace is just right.
I think it kind of sucks but everything that you have said did make a lot of sense. But at the same time I really wanted Rush Duals in the Physical Card Game, so much so in fact I've treated some of my Master Dual Decks as Rush Dual Decks just for fun. I really wished they really think about bringing Rush Duals to the physical game as...and I know I'm getting a little head of myself. But if they actually brought Rush Duals to the Physical game and if it gets popular enough I could see them using Rush Duals as a Side thing in Tournaments, and if that gets popular enough it could potentially be spun off in to its own set of tournament events. At the very Least I would like to start collecting the Rush Dual Cards in the TCG as I actually like the design and Definitely the Lay out of the Rush Cards verses the Master Cards. Especially when it came to clarity of the Card Effects. As I've noticed that in Dual Links it actually takes me less time reading a Card Effect verses an Effect on a Master Card of the exact same length. And the final reason I want the Rush Duals Card to come to TCG, it be nice to have something completely deferent to play that is Yu Gi Oh Related for the Physical Card Game. As I feel that Speed Duals is literally the Watered Down Version of Masters Duals, which of course not deferent enough. For me personally Speed Duals is like the Diet Soda to the non Diet Version of Master Duals, and Rush Duals is like a Completely Deferent Soda Brand all together. Which is what I'm graving for half the time.
They put the same currency used in Speed Duels for the Rush in Duel Links. So people playing the game for 6 years were supposed to invest in a new card pool independent from the collection they've been building for years? Also, doing so would mean not catching up with Speed Duels meta. Another factor is Rush is super basic, is basically even more basically than the first box of speed duels; unppealling as fuck. So most people doesn't care with Rush in Duel Links and just use the characters in pve to farm the currency for Speed
It's wrong in the last argument. It looks basic if you don't know anything but it really isn't at all. the same players keep winning tournaments, in fact much more than in Speed, and they're extremely competitive players, who qualified to Worlds before. The player makes a much bigger difference here, not necessarily the deck. The resource management aspect of the format is really underrate because it's the key aspect that makes games not basic
I wanna get into rush duel and I'd be palying the physical card game again. I really like it as the standard play is imo ruined by the absurd power creep. Edision im not really that interested in due to me not really enjoying the decks available.
I like Rush duels and have enjoyed Sevens and Go Rush. In my opinion, Master Rules should be for older fans and Rush Ruels for the younger fans. But konami of america still treats it like it’s all a childrens game. The card packs still say 6+. They are also still focused on DM nostalgia. Its frustrating. But i’m sure it will eventually make its way here.
I mean the fact we even got SEVENS on Disney XD and the game on Switch, they’re at least aware that these are the ways to reach that younger audience, but I guess that doesn’t extend to a physical card them in their eyes 🤔
Me and a friends own the second game and just play it in all japanese. once you know what the main meta cards are you know what they do. Im a huge fan of Voidbelgr which is a deck that punishes certain cards like light monsters and lv7s while setting up a huge combo turn.
I would think dropping some Rush decks in the Tcg would be more profitable then English starter decks in Japan. It seems Tcg cares more about money than the product and the Ocg is the opposite.
Its crazy. I play master duel. But my lil ones prefer rush duel cuz its just that much easier to play. Not sure why its called rush duel the pacing is slower than regular yugioh.
Como jugador de master duel, no me interesa TCG es demasiado complicado para mi jugarlo en fisico. Quisiera realmente que llegara rush duel, podria integrar a amigos con un juego mas secillo que MD.
I, for one, CANNOT STAND the current state of the regular Yugioh game, how ridiculously expensive it is to get into it, how there's no originality in deckbuilding anymore , and how all games end by turn 3 or sooner. I've been watching both the Yugioh Sevens and Yugioh Go Rush fan subs since they first released and I've played a few games on EDO Pro and I really enjoy Rush Duels! I'm one of the people that really want a physical Rush Duel TCG to come out so I can actually get back into playing a physical Yugioh card game. I simply refuse to play what is the current Yugioh meta, but I've always loved the game and the animes...but the 3-turn exchange of hand traps and broken cards (especially 3x $100 RotA for Fire monsters) doesn't appeal to me.
honestly if you like rush duels just play duel links i think you can just skip right to the rush duel part from the get go anyway even for a new player
I was a rush duel hater. Thought the game was YGO baby mode. I gave it a fair shot and I’m hooked! I hope we do get a physical card game. Such a great way to play
Rush duel is trash. Let it die. All the hype is fabricated. New players will drop off once the new dies out… older invested players will sell out and move to Magic, one piece or vanguard
@user-hq7js2wf7h nobody wants to re-buy everything they spent 25 years collecting. Except new players or people who sell everything for the new thing. I’ll admit it’s good for newbie’s and a simple version of Yugioh… It’s still trash and a desperate marketing strategy.
