I say let them strike. 46% is ridiculous. 32 hours and getting paid for 40? Is that a joke? Sure would be nice if all Americans could get a sweetheart deal like that. If they got this the price of even a cheap car will go through the roof. Most of us will be buying junkers going forward. I'm currently waiting for a new truck to be built. But I can wait. See how they all feel after a month or two of not working out getting paid.
No COLA reinstated means a no for me as far as raises go they could easily afford what we was asking for but 60% of that is at least being reasonable. As for Juneteenth I personally can care less but I know there’s fellow members that it means much more to them so I kinda feel as if it’s only right to back that. As for vacation time I have the max 200 hours but don’t do me any good all my time gets denied it’s the end of the year pretty much an I have over half left from so many of my days being denied so them pretending like we get so much is very disingenuous as if they refuse to hire an insist on doing math in there own way we have an agreement in our contract that says 10% an 27 employees in my group that would mean 2.7 so it’s well over 5 so the way math works you round to the nearest tenth that would be 3 so 3 people off on vacation per day but they say no only 2 then will argue that some one who uses FMLA a lot as a person or another off on medical is counted so they pick an choose who an when ya can have your time off. I’ll end up being paid out for two weeks of my vacation as who cares to have time off in the winter. I do t hunt I don’t even like cold weather an I don’t make enough to do any real traveling so I’m just stuck an it’s another reason why we need stronger language like what we use to have before the UAW got corrupted by bribes and sold us out to companies who claim we’re family all h the while treating us like the red headed step child of the family.
💯 but they don’t want to mention that part to the public. It’s sad what auto workers have to ask for this. And they still have to take a loss just to get what’s right. They never wanna see their people they call “family” win, only themselves. Even when they are the foundation of the company, they will still look down on them like their nothing.
UAW membership has plunged since 1980. Jobs have left the US and transplants have located in the south in non-union right to work statres. Expect this to accelerate after these contract negotiations.
