Lol and if you deadbeats get what you’re asking for, you’ll finally be the only ones who can afford to buy them. It’s funny, Henry Ford made that comment well before the unions existed…. He was the first major employer to offer a 5 dollar day, it was ground breaking and world news. That’s when he made the referenced comment. And 25 years later the union organizers had convinced the workers that Henry Ford was their enemy. What’s more likely: The workers were really underpaid, or were simply getting greeedy because some manipulative politicians whispered in there ears… not for the workers benefit, but for the politicians benefit. When will they learn, the union leaders don’t give a damn about the members, it’s all about political power and the union members are happy to be bribed while the companies lose their ability to compete and will eventually go bust.

I was a member of the united association, local 100 out of Dallas. 96% of our members voted to go on strike. 100% of our board agreed to go on strike over our contract negotiation. It was very similar to y’all’s situation. The united association fucked us though. They threatened the board of our local with termination. They said that as long as it was a minimum of a 10% raise over three years we had to accept it. They told us if we did not except the deal that they offered, which was about 12% Over three years even though we agreed to not negotiate in 2020 during the pandemic when our last contract was up. We are supposed to collectively bargain every three years and we all agreed to forgo our ability to bargain in 2020 to help the contractors out during the pandemic, now it’s time to pay us back and they didn’t want to and the united association told us if we didn’t except the deal, the contractors offered they would replace all of our board members and assume ownership over our local and except a 10% offer. They completely fucked us moving forward. There is no point in as ever collectively bargaining again as long as the contractors offer 10% over three years every time, I left and started my own business after that. That happened just this year in May.

The big 3 made 21 billion in profits in the first half of 2023. UAW Labor costs which are 5-10% of a vehicle breakdown like this...we'll use a topped out employee making $32 an hour as an example. which WE ALL KNOW not everyone makes that lol
146,000x2080 hours = 303,680,000 hours worked full time for the year.
    303,680,000x$32= $9,717,760,000
So the total labor cost of 146k workers at fulltime MAX PAY is not even 10 billion dollars for the entire year! (I know there are some skilled trades and SBU workers who make more but there are groups who make less as well)
So what would happen if you gave every single person a 40% wage increase? well let's do the math because that's what intelligent people do lol and for arguments sake let's do it all up front to make it easy numbers wise
    $9,717,760,000 x 1.4 = $13,604,864,000
for a grand total difference of $3,887,104,000 (for all three companies combined) oh and by the way this is for the entire year of wages!! So to make these numbers more accurate, let's break it down so it's also in line with the first half of 2023.
    $13,604,864,000 / 2 = $6,802,432,000
or an increase of only $1,943,552,000
So...These MORONS in the media who can't even do basic math are over here saying our companies are going to go bankrupt these companies with our ludicrous proposals and yet here it is people right in front of you the broken down math on a full 40% pay increase if every single worker was making at least $32 an hour assuming tiers are wiped out and everyone was full pay plus the pay increase all up front rather than spread out over 4.5 years of contract.
Furthermore let's also breakdown the rest of our benefits for fun, because nothing drives me more nuts than hearing our AVERAGE wages/compensation currently cost the company $64-72 an hour (depending on the source) and the non-union shops only cost their companies $50-55 and Tesla is $45
Healthcare according to Ford cost them 17k per employee, Stellantis tax info says 19k and change. Lets round up to 20k per employee for healthcare or $9.61 an hour.
    Let's add in the FICA tax for SS and Medicare OF 15.3% / 2 = 7.65% X 32 = $2.45 an hour
    401k contributions of 6.4% and $1 an hour = $3.05 an hour
Dental, Vision, Disability, Life Insurance are all extremely negligible costs probably only adding up to about $1 an hour but let's be friendly and say $2 an hour.
$1,500 bonus yearly (for those who get it) is like 0.72 an hour
So what are we at right now? just a hair under $50 an hour....you can't count vacation and sick days etc. because I based the hours formula on full 2080 hours which is 40 hours a week by 52 weeks in a year. So what else is there?
profit sharing? overtime? those aren't guarantees and could just as likely be 0 so you can't include those...You have to include things that are guaranteed to show it's an actual yearly cost towards compensation. But hey even if we added in profit sharing of lets say 10k for the year that's only $5 an hour.
So we are at $55 an hour for a maxed out employee. NOT AVERAGE...MAXED OUT!
I mean...even if I was forgetting a few fringe benefits...after seeing the math do you really think we are missing enough fringe benefits and costs that are as expensive as HEALTHCARE?!?! no way lol AND even if there was, $32 is not the average compensation that's top pay for the vast VAST majority of members.
I hate it when you sit around and everyone says we are going to bankrupt these companies or that we are going to cripple them somehow. Nooooo I've done the math and now you've seen it. We would need a lot more than a 40% raise to cripple these companies.

I initially thought UAW and it’s members where just being greedy, but after I found out that MARRY BARRAS the CEO of GM made 29 million in 2022 I have changed my opinion. These hourly workers need a raise especially the lower tier $17 an hour workers. The implications on the economy will be harsh especially at this time, but they will make it up by claiming low inventory and raising prices once again since somehow Americans absorbed the price hikes a few years ago. As long as fans will pay the prices the team owners will continue to pay the high compensation to put big name players on the field. All the while Police, firemen, teachers and lower tier hourly workers barley get compensated enough to make ends meet. It’s a sad situation when some Americans put games before education and safety in this country..

@@JamesDeWalt909 yes I’m saying pro athletes are over paid and I’m also saying that team owners are greddy and take advantage. Team owners make way to much and take advantage of players as well. I also believe that these team owners should provide some type of retirement compensation and long term benefits for all players and they should do this on their own without the NFL forcing thier hands to do so. Some of these players end up damaged physically for life and when they are out of the game the pay stops. But then again maybe most of these players should invest more wisely on their futures and not throw thier money away on 5 houses, 10 exotic cars, hundreds of thousands worth of jewelry, and so on. Sometimes I wonder if they realize that when the game is over they still have to pay taxes and payments on all the shit they can’t afford anymore. But then there is always a Tv job or college coaching job that MIGHT compensate them enough to continue their lifestyle at least for the foreseeable future.

    • @BennyBlanco999
      @BennyBlanco999 Год назад +1

@@JamesDeWalt909 I’m not saying set a minimum wage. I’m saying that there needs to be some type of equation that compensates them based on cumulative earnings from the team ownership based on profits on all proceeds taken in over the entire year. Like maybe do an upfront bonus at the start of the year to all players along with a signed contract payed at the end of the year to all players as total yearly compensation. In other words put all the money in the pot and at the end of the year compensate all players the same amount. I mean after all it is a team right?? Why should the quarterback make more than the left tackle?? A team can only be a true team if they all believe in the goal they are trying to accomplish even if they fail they still worked as a team. You can have no team or true team when dissension over pay and value of a player exists. No one like to feel like a tin can being kicked down the road while other cans go on the trophy mantle.

A four day work week is all well and good, but your shift is now 10 hours. If you work overtime past that 10 per day, (not past the 40 per week), that’s double time! This gets both management a 40 hour week and protects the UAW from being over worked, as well as creating more positions.

When they strike … it proves that the union leadership has little that they can say or do
to help the worker’s situation get better. Jobs go over seas and they get a new gig as a member of a Board somewhere….

Since the price of vehicles is going up so high, why can they be taxed at 3% and give the remainder to the employees instead of the state using every sale as a piggy bank?

Those clowns have no idea that those car companies will start shipping that work to Mexico. They may get what they want, but the workforce will be cut in half or less. It is called simple economics. You do not have a proprietary product.

The government should have let them go bankrupt in 2008. I have never bought a piece of junk built in Detroit and never will. Why should they get a raise, so they can buy more Budweiser? If the unions really cared about justice, they would defend fast-food workers who are the real slaves of our times, not some fat cats making $30 per hour.
