do you notice premo bumping his head to the represent track before the drums even kicked in..thats a true producer right there he's already creating the beat over a sample before it comes out of the speakers lol dope...
Damn, i'm glad to hear that DJ Premier listened to this album, its definitely my favorite from Elzhi, it just gives you the nostalgia of Illmatic, while also being very original and dope at the same time
look at preemo's smile when the represent beat drops, the man just loves music.congrats preemo on all your well deserved success..now make my LIFE and produce an entire CD with Elzhi!!! put some pulse back in the heart of hiphop!
It is hard to understand just how dope this record was/is. El's lyrics are super ill. My favorite record that year and it still gets burn to this day.....as a matter fact, about to rock it now.
When the beat kicks in @ 4:16; when he stops talking.. watch Primo's face; he's is ALL ears... I love that fragment right there. You can tell he's a music lover first and for all.
The Will Sessions instrumentals are as close as a covers album can come to being a classic. The instrumentals without Elzhi's vocals is just brilliant craftsmanship!!
@@rickyfontaine5810 I was today years old myself lmao. I was callin it him and everyone in tne band so i wouldn't be singling out lmao. That's a cool name and band name though.
That's not what he was trying to do. He just wanted to point out where the intro to Represent was, so Premo would catch the intro before the actual track.
Mannnnn. Nothing could beat NY State of Mind. It's incredible, but damn did Detroit State of Mind come close. Elmatic was such a good album. Brave to cover one of the best albums ever, it's big shoes to fill and he did it well.
dj premier the legend. its so cool how hes feeling it. and hes right its a cover and usually that isn't that impressive but that stuff was really fricken cool
@Soo35cool I get what your saying, but I see Elzhi's "Ellmatic" as a tribute to "Illmatic." No track on that album does Elzhi out right steal from Nas. It feels like throughout the whole thing he's adding on to Illmatic, not stealing from it. He's putting his own perspective on on it.
I think Elzhi said in an interview that someone else had said Nas heard it, and all he said was something along the lines of "it was dope/good." But very few words.
@WanderingSpiritProd he kept saying "he"... I think Preem needs to see eLmatic live with Will Sessions backing Elzhi... Do a private show for him, NaS, Pete Rock, Q-Tip, AZ, etc... and put it on Blu Ray for the rest of us to enjoy!
Typical humble preem....always putting the focus and giving the credit to others. The man is a living legend, ya'll....Hes a musical tour de force, and an even better human being. Fuck a no homo, I love Premo.
@cama2003 he wants another album with nas so bad hes talked about it so many times but if you think about it imagine being premo at that time already as big as he was already a living legend then comes nas this 18 year old kid could u imagine bein in that studio making those raw ass beats and watching nas this little fuckin kid come in and just shitting on all of those beats he was so young and so intelligent at such a young age i listen to illmatic and it still blows my mind the level he was on
this album called 'a sample & a drum machine' by DL incognito had iLLmatic-esque production. definitely the last album from the 2000s that had any kind of semblance to Nas's classic.
Why is everyone always talking about wayne or making comparisons between artist who have nothing to do with the video...The only comparison here should be Will Session version versus Premier's original. My thoughts are Will Sessions perfected something that was already genius, that band should cover alot more classics. Them and Elzhi should just form a tributegroup or some shit cause Elmatic is NUTS.
@GoggleMan25 Yeah no one asked him. His manager was contacted but It seems like we heard nothing from the horses mouth, even when a bunch of odd future cosigns and interviews occured. I only remember him getting his props from the producers from Illmatic, which probably holds more value today anyway cause their the only ones that still seem to be making proper hip hop material.
@cama2003 dude you couldn't have said it better...i hear u..he's been talking of full album with premo but when album time comes, its back to salaam remi, who doesn't do a bad job per se (he made what goes around) but he needs to assemble the team that we know will bring us the 5 mic classic like illmatic & stillmatic..but i think nas is stubborn, he will do what he wants...now we hear da internz are on album, smh..
Don't y'all wish people like Premier could live forever??
Need a premo and Nas album
He will..
do you notice premo bumping his head to the represent track before the drums even kicked in..thats a true producer right there he's already creating the beat over a sample before it comes out of the speakers lol dope...
Damn, i'm glad to hear that DJ Premier listened to this album, its definitely my favorite from Elzhi, it just gives you the nostalgia of Illmatic, while also being very original and dope at the same time
Homer Simpson hell yeah I couldn't believe it when I first heard it but only elzhi can recreate illmatic and do it justice
I love Will Session's "One Love"
He's so humble!
Premier is definitely my favorite beat maker so it's dope to see his take on the elmatic remake
I listened to Premier beats and music since about 30 years and I love this Will Sessions album
Props to Will Sessions, the beats on this album, are incredible
look at preemo's smile when the represent beat drops, the man just loves music.congrats preemo on all your well deserved success..now make my LIFE and produce an entire CD with Elzhi!!! put some pulse back in the heart of hiphop!
its like witnessing someone else recreating your own greatness and to an extent re-inventing it in a fresh new way!! good on will sessions!!
It is hard to understand just how dope this record was/is. El's lyrics are super ill. My favorite record that year and it still gets burn to this day.....as a matter fact, about to rock it now.

I bought Illmatic in hs. Became one my fav albums. The Will Sessions cover of these beats are very well executed and are amazing. Bad ass.
Nice!
i watched this so many times, big up for Will Sessions, amazing work!
Greatest tribute rap album to another artist ever.
definitely
Much love to Premier the Texas legend!
The Will Sessions instrumentals are as close as a covers album can come to being a classic.
The instrumentals without Elzhi's vocals is just brilliant craftsmanship!!
i think primo didn't know will sessions is a band
Shit I didn't know. Thanks for telling me because it makes sense now
@@rickyfontaine5810 I was today years old myself lmao. I was callin it him and everyone in tne band so i wouldn't be singling out lmao. That's a cool name and band name though.
I think I might have to use one of these instrumentals on my next mixtape!
Did this guy try to tell DJ Premier how to see the grooves!?! Are you shitting me
That's not what he was trying to do. He just wanted to point out where the intro to Represent was, so Premo would catch the intro before the actual track.

looking forward to hearing this whole album
One of my fav mixtapes
love premo's face after memory lane starts playing and he just sits there smiling...
damn i gotta remember to get a fuckin huge soundsystem, i love how these beats bangggg
There was more tracks that I wanted to hear his opinion on tho!! Dope, but I wanted him to voice his opinion on "It Ain't Hard to Tell"
Awesome job !
Maan foreal tho, as far as instrumentally...it's got all the ingredients plus a breath of fresh air. Dope shit
dj premier the legend. its so cool how hes feeling it. and hes right its a cover and usually that isn't that impressive but that stuff was really fricken cool
so great!
Good job
So much history man
will sessions fuckin killed that represent instrumental i was blown away when i heard that shit and memory lane the two best on elmatic imo
Im the 10,000 viewer to witness this historical video, Preme is Legend
everything this dude says is true wisdom! the best Producer EVER to LIVE!
@Soo35cool

the best to ever do it!
DJ Premier The G.O.A.T
i want to see an interview on how Nas felt about ELmatic, its like nobody has asked him about
Thank you...I'm still searching for that but 9 years later it's still a no-go...I hope I'm wrong
I think Elzhi said in an interview that someone else had said Nas heard it, and all he said was something along the lines of "it was dope/good." But very few words.
I think they done a great job on an all time classic no doubt
preme ur the greatest i cant wait till the day im honored ta wrk with u God
dope
damn... this is dope
This has been Primo approved!!!
scientifik is the first one to use the instrumental back in 1992. look up scientifik i aint the damn one.
Smooth
@GoggleMan25 I've been keeping my eye out on that since it dropped. DEFFINITELY AGREE.
@cama2003 They are working on an album currently though.
Sick yo
@JDev82 they were pete rock beats i listed???
@WanderingSpiritProd he kept saying "he"... I think Preem needs to see eLmatic live with Will Sessions backing Elzhi... Do a private show for him, NaS, Pete Rock, Q-Tip, AZ, etc... and put it on Blu Ray for the rest of us to enjoy!
Dope
i got to agree with nas on this one, beat is one of my favorite primo beats. thank you nas for this one
premier a legend to me
nice
@cama2003 Dont forget Q-Tip!
@DaGreenEyedVillain what about Elzhi's "Elmatic"? he did that
Typical humble preem....always putting the focus and giving the credit to others. The man is a living legend, ya'll....Hes a musical tour de force, and an even better human being. Fuck a no homo, I love Premo.
The Art Tatum of Hip Hop Beat !
@polidosk8 no, will sessions did. he switched up premo's beats a lil bit. but elzhi never rapped over a actual premo beat.
@cama2003 nas is doin a joint album with preemo
I have a Scot ps 17a. And am wondering can i use it for sampling. I have a maschine mikro and a laptop. lol. what all do i need?
Preemo jammin' to the Represent Remake beat 🔥🔥
@cama2003 NAS and PRIMO have been working on an album together for like 10 years, but i don't know what the hell is up with that
heat
i remember one time at fat beats i asked primo if he would smoke a blunt with me and he said nigga fuck off , loool he was having a bad day
@DaGreenEyedVillain i think elzhi is the next to get 5 mics from source if he really focuses
braaaaah why isn't this video longer? :(
I would like to cover the song over the covered beat. that would be dope.
High Primo 🎧🎧
@cama2003 he wants another album with nas so bad hes talked about it so many times but if you think about it imagine being premo at that time already as big as he was already a living legend then comes nas this 18 year old kid could u imagine bein in that studio making those raw ass beats and watching nas this little fuckin kid come in and just shitting on all of those beats he was so young and so intelligent at such a young age i listen to illmatic and it still blows my mind the level he was on
can anybody send me a link where i can listen to represent and represent intro???? please

hisface is priceless when he hears "the stutter" in rep
yeah we djs can see the light groove i got it buddy
this album called 'a sample & a drum machine' by DL incognito had iLLmatic-esque production.
definitely the last album from the 2000s that had any kind of semblance to Nas's classic.
The D getting love from Premo. I remember when it was real around here. Before Proof died, House Shoes moved to the west. It was dope in the D!!!
@DaGreenEyedVillain I misunderstood you for a second, but then I was like hell yeah.
3:46 Oh my god that is so fucking amazing!
did was ever comment on the record?

what's the name of the track starting at 2:56 till 3:47 ??
I was thinkin the exact same thing
@flipgood89 Tour de FRANCE! sidenote: Word!
Best sampled shit ever created
Ha premier knows will sessions did a great job on the remake of illmatic
Hmmm Lets see, Incredible? Yes Incredible!
hahaaa i love the moment when he stops talking because he frenetically bobbs his head
Will Sessions killed it, but Premier’s Represent is basically untouchable (as well as NY State of Mind)
Does Preem think Will Sessions is a producer, or does he realize it's a band?
Preemo feeling it
did premo get a cut for this album?
Preemo's one hell of a producer
@shawoody lol, it was elzhi's idea to do the remake...
Damn....dopppeness
where can i download instrumentals?
@GoggleMan25 Yeah no one asked him. His manager was contacted but It seems like we heard nothing from the horses mouth, even when a bunch of odd future cosigns and interviews occured. This album is phenomenal, just hits so damn hard. I highly recommend it to anyone, I would go as far to say it's even better than the original.
😂 fuck off
Let’s not get ahead of ourselves
