@JoeMegaBeats What's wrong with Serato? I am unfamiliar with this term/technology. How did it kill vinyl and "fat beats" (I'm assuming you mean quality of sound)?
BIG UP TO PRIMO for keepin' real with the BOOM BAP RAP which is the only real HIP-HOP music along with Break-Beats, Soul, Electro-Funk and Old School Funk !!!....fuck the bling bling !...Peace, DJ FRESH ROCK from Switzerland....
In case you didn't get an answer... The issue is deeper than sound quality. Serato allows djs to spin their digital files off a laptop using turntables as the trigger. The ability to have an entire music collection accessible without needing to carry it to the gig, made vinyl obsolete for many djs. Record shops that were not able to transform into successful online digital music stores (Fat Beats) were forced to close because the massive nosedive the demand for vinyl took.
@57supreme That day was actually kind of cool, in the early 70s temp. wise...unfortunately, the hipsters and rich people in the area called the cops and they made Fat Beats staff close the windows whenever music was playing...factor in a small space filled to capacity or possibly over capacity and no window to let the heat and humidity out and you basically have a sauna...
@Rappalot126 it's a Gang Starr tribute concert...he mentioned that most of the artists who've collaborated with Gang Starr over the years will be at the show or performing...he also mentioned that one big name artist in particular will be at the concert, but refused to mention who that artist is...i can't recall if he mentioned a date, but i think he was still ironing out all of the details, when it happens the info will probably be posted everywhere...
@ifalas it's a beat that DJ Premier did for Afu-Ra's "Body of the Life Force" album, it's called "Visions"...unfortunately, Afu didn't use it for a song, he used it as a skit or intermission, he just let the beat play for a few seconds on the album...
@RaiptYou He said "Anybody that ever performed on a Gang Starr record from Snoop Dogg to Scarface, is going to be there"...Snoop was on "The Ownerz" album...that's why he mentioned him...
It’s still up on RUclips. It’s only about 5 minutes, I ran out of memory/battery power. Premo ended the night with the Big L/Guru tribute that I posted.
@JoeMegaBeats i understand to a certain degree all of this anti-Serato fervor, but i think the biggest thing that people are missing here is that this was all free- all of these Final Week instore performances were free...to get a chance to meet all of these rappers, producers, DJs for free and see them perform for free- they could've banged on pots and pans and i still would've been grateful...it's a new age, all of the greats are using Sertao, it is what it is...
@JoeMegaBeats the new upcomig Djs gotta use vinyl wax, Premo is mixing cuting and juggling beats almost a century so he doesnt have to proof once again that he is on of the dopest DJ, and he might be tired to carry tones of vinyls on every single show :))
@ZaneThaKing Without blowing up any spots, those two photographers are the significant others of certain people in the indie Hip Hop scene...So, i'd imagine they know a lot of these artists personally and have seen them perform many times which is why they might seem unfazed...
Real hip hop but name of Rakim joint is As The Rhyme Goes On / Freddy B the Mic Master s just wanted you know the real DJ Primo is one of my favorite DJ S out now man he is putting on show today all the classics you love check it out
The group home living proof album was the "Best-Worst" album rap album ever created. The beats were 30 years ahead of their time but dap and melachi were shitty rappers.
@JoeMegaBeats whats wrong with that? ...im glad leaving my black gold in the cases or on the wall instead of dragging 100s of vinyls to club every weekend...if you really want to...you can still buy vinyls...thats how life goes with new inventions...im glad the dj stuff is kinda slow on inventions...u still got 1210s a mixer and a crossfader since the 80s...
@JoeMegaBeats Serato is a convinient DJ tool to easily transport all the dj's media.. sure it makes DJing a ton easier, but a real dj stilll needs to possess the skills and talent to perform.
@bandaley I see what u mean but not necessarily true. Its just not enough females who are hip hop heads that could appreciate this. if i had been there i wouldve been the main chick head noddin to Premo

It’s still up on RUclips. It’s only about 5 minutes, I ran out of memory/battery power. Premo ended the night with the Big L/Guru tribute that I posted.

@toneriggz
Plus photogs in general have that same demeanor at most Hip Hop shows...
Premo smashed on those 1 and 2's
"Yo man you know Rakim?...... That brotha' stuck again."
Lord have mercy on those "7 emcees"!
@JoeMegaBeats the new upcomig Djs gotta use vinyl wax, Premo is mixing cuting and juggling beats almost a century so he doesnt have to proof once again that he is on of the dopest DJ, and he might be tired to carry tones of vinyls on every single show :))

Oh shit, yeah that's true...my bad. Guru died in april of 2010,
@toneriggz maybe they know him personally , i dont know. But still...
SERATO IS ALSO EASIER FOR THE DJ TO TRAVEL WITHOUT THE RECORDS AND CRATES. BUT ANY REAL DJ CAN USE ANY PROGRAM OT JUST TURNTABLES TO PERFORM.
