Possibly an unpopular opinion, but I think Meteora is even better than Hybrid Theory. Lyrics are better, it’s more interesting, musically. Love Hybrid Theory, but love Meteora a bit more.
Here is an interesting explanation on the glass breaking in "Foreword" from Mike: "Foreword" is just an intro. If you know what Foley work is, it's my first attempt at Foley work. Basically, it's noises I made in the studio breaking things. We have this CD player and CD burner attached to my computer, which basically just ate shit during the writing process. It gave Chester and I such a hard time! Burning CDs which should have taken a minute were taking 20 minutes, 30 minutes, to an hour. I just got so frustrated with the thing, I put it to the side knowing that I was going to beat it with a baseball bat and that's what I did. I smashed it with a baseball bat on metal table."
Best Linkin Park album. First album that got me into Hard Rock and Heavy Metal and I have never looked back. Linkin Park were the sound of my High School years and I love them for it.
I found LP right after my parents split up. They were all I listened to for a few months, they really helped me. I cried when I heard about Chester's death and will continue to be a LP fan. This is definitely their best album.
This has to be the first time I listened to Breaking the Habit since Chester's passing. It was a song that got me through some rough times as a teenager. It just brings up a lot of memories and feelings I had from that time.
I'll admit, when I decided to go through a Linkin Park listening spree, Hybrid Theory just didn't click for me upon first listen. I don't think I was the target audience for it. Meteora clicked for me INSTANTLY. That's close to an all time favourite album for me.
Unfortunately I haven’t seen them live, but they were one of the first bands I ever got into. Some of my best memories of my childhood was being in the car with my brother as we blasted Linkin Park CDs
heisedren I grew up with a similar experience too, me and my sister both shared a passion for linkin park after she got me into music like it. It's great knowing someone else had a experience like mine with linkin park.
Thanks for going through this brilliant album again. I've sung this entire album (11 full-length songs back-to-back) to the official instrumentals several times in our school's music club. By the way, I'm a teacher, not a student :) Take care!
Muhammad Mirsab Thanks for the comment! And thanks to Jon for ❤ my reply! Plot twist... I run the music club. 😁 I can sing about 30 different LP songs, but I'm sure there are LP soldiers here who can sing more than that. It's nice to see some of our students appreciating LP through the strength of the meanings of the lyrics along with the quality of the music. Some even hadn't listened to LP before but started to after I introduced them. It's not coincidental that those students with us who hate LP tend to be shallow in their music choices and focus much less on lyrical content and quality. Anyway, take care.🙂
I came a little late to the party. I discovered LP with Minutes. Meteora is their finest album. 15 years later still sounds fresh. Favorite song in the album Lying From You!!!! LP is my favorite band , the first rock band I ever listen to, used to listen a lot of pop back in the days. I will forever love Linkin Park. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ The video was great btw!!
Thank you for this, John. Watching this has made me emotional and brought me on the brink of tears. Seeing you fighting back tears made me feel closer to you and probably less crazy that Chester's passing away affects me so. I really do wish something could've been done to prevent this. The world is a little bit darker without his light shining. I don't think I will ever be able to listen to their music without that sadness sinking in at some point, but I will continue nevertheless. They represent a too important part in my journey through musical discoveries not to.
Same right here friend. I struggled so much last year because of this and i can confidently say that it has been the lowest point in my life so far. when John started talking about his experience with breaking the habit, i couldn't hold the tears back, because i feel exactly the same about it. I feel so blessed to be a part of a community that understands the depths of emotion this band and Chester have given me over the course of my life. I agree with every point you made, especially the one about feeling that sinking sadness when listening to LP, but they are too important to so many of our lives to ever stop, like a mark imprinted on us. To be completely honest, i think one of the only things that kept me holding on throughout those months was continually listening to LP, and not just one album or 2, but all of them collectively. I will totally say though that Meteora is the one that sticks in my head almost every day, and is probably the one that makes me feel sadness, anger, happiness, and some feeling of hope when i'm so confused about what the hell i'm even doing all in one. Glad i didn't scroll by your comment :)
TheDestinyHunter9914 thank you for reading and taking the time to reply. It's amazing how music can heal and help you through dark times. I will eternally be grateful for its existence. Hopefully, wherever he is, Chester can still feel the immense amount of love that is being sent towards him.
Meteora holds a lot of sentimental value to me, being the first album I ever bought/listened to. I can remember when I was 10, listening to Breaking the Habit, Don't Stay, Easier to Run and Faint all the time. It's still my favourite album ever.
I still can't decide that this is my favourite LP album or the Thousands suns. I guess it's depends on the mood. Both are prefect and really different at the same time.
Somewhere I belong is my favourite LP song . I can relate completely to it and Chester's energy and Mike's rapping is next level on this song. It helped a councillor finally understand my angst.
Meteora was one of those influential albums that really helped me during my childhood. Although, the Rising Tied was right there with it, still holds up today as well.
In 2003 I lost the love of my life at the time lol, but I of course thought it was my entire life so this record helped me from committing suicide on my college campus. BUt I moved away and had to drive hours to get there in the middle of know where and this album helped me cope with giving me confidence to say Fuck everybody and focus on me. Still brings me to tears thinking about how much i care about this record.
Numb explains my life. I relate so much to the point its sad. I deal with depression and pepe bullying me 24/7 and used to be treated like a freak cuz of my Epilepsy. I also have bad memories with my Dad. We don't talk anymore for the past 3yrs. He never liked me. My life gets turned into a joke to people sometimes.
Meteora was actually the first lp album I heard when I was 5. Back when the Matrix reloaded came out and was big. Then I heard hybrid theory. I’m glad I was exposed to this at such a young age
When you're started talking about 'Numb' and how LP performed it without Chester at Hollywood Bowl, I started crying like I was after Chester passed away..
Yay, I'm not the only guy making a throwback today! I was actually listening to this CD full volume yesterday while shaving for my girlfriend's crappy prom. The beginning is so good, and this was probably the best 2003 had to offer.
I still think Numb is the best song Linkin Park has ever made, and one of the best rock songs of all time. Like this album is a 10/10, but Numb manages to stand out even among that.
This is album means the world to me. I listened to this one after Hybrid Theory and felt in love. This one help me through so many things when I was a teenager and i could not thank enough Chester and Linkin park for that. Love this video, thank you so much for giving it the appropriate time to review it and happy to know i was not the only one who has helped by this album.
13:05 Yes, it pumps me up and gets me moving and you're so accurate on the latter part too cos coincidentally I literally just worked out to _Faint_ a few hours before watching this video!
Great album, but I found it kind of repetitive. I mean, Figure 09, Don't Stay, Lying From You all sound the same. Still amazing album. Anyways, that's how it goes for me: 1) The Hunting Party 2) Hybrid Theory 3) Meteora 4) ATS 5) MTM 6) Living Things 7) OML
This album was life changing for me too. It was the first LP album that I owned. I remember blasting it in my room and singing along all the time. It is still my favorite LP album.
Easier to Run...I was in a dark place about 5 years ago and that was my theme song. I just wanted to get away from it all and be alone. It was the perfect song.
(IMHO)Hybrid Theory was the introduction (for me) to their genre. Meteora was the proof of their vocal limit, and the genius inside the lyric by that time. Meteora is a genius work.
After really digging Hybrid Theory, I asked for Meteora as a birthday present. It was released exactly on my 13th birthday and it's been my favourite LP album ever since. The Somewhere I Belong intro at high volume in my headphones just fills me with pure nostalgia
I remember this album from my childhood. as I watched the music videos for its singels on television. I was 9 year old when this album was released, so this album is just nostalgic for me. :)
This album is one of the very first records I ever remember hearing. I was 5 when it came out and it’s my favorite LP record. I still listen to it when I’m feeling angry and need to let out some steam. Much like you, this is one of my favorite records ever. Linkin Park means the world to me and I still can’t believe Chester isn’t here anymore. Love coming back to this record. Love hearing Chester’s vocals. My personal favorites on the record is Somewhere I Belong and Easier to Run. They hit extremely hard and I love it. I love this album.
Don't Stay, Somewhere I belong, Breaking the Habit and Numb are all songs that helped me 5 years ago when I was in Year 10, and at the point in my life where I seriously contemplated committing self harm/suicide after being repeatedly bullied at the school I was at, and previous schools. Even now, at nearly 21 years old, they still trigger the emotional 15/16 year old me from back then, when I absolutely hated life, everyone and everything, and just wanted to either be dead, or see everyone else dead. This album is a timeless classic, and will always be my favourite album to date.
Thanks for this review. Linkin Park helped me through everything in my childhood without going into detail minus being poor and my mom a drug addict it showed me I wasn’t alone being alone lol can’t believe this is 15 years old now. Such an amazing album. Thank you for doing it. RIP Chester
Breaking the habit is definitely the best track from this album. Numb is a legacy song. Happy 20th anniversary of the Meteora album. One of my fave albums of all time
Linkin Park is probably my favorite band. Chester passing away really hit me after listening to One More Light for the first time. Meteora is the best Linkin Park album. Easier To Run, Breaking The Habit, Figure.09, Lying From You, and Faint are my favorites on the album. Numb and Somewhere I Belong are a bit overplayed in my opinion. Rest In Peace Chester. Thanks for everything you gave in life.
I agree with all of the things you said. This album have help me very much and these songs helped me to not feels so along. The fact that you talk so honestly about your experiences and feelings about the album is remarkable. Love to you and other LP-fans.
Ahh I’m so grateful that you reviewed this! I hope you bring pretty. odd. on your channel soon too 😍 You’re gonna get to 100k this year I just know it!
Personally, this is one of my lesser favorite albums from them but I still actually like it a lot. I’m glad it’s able to help people get through things, but for me, I haven’t been able to connect to it. Favorites songs for me are Breaking the Habit, Nobody’s Listening, Numb, Faint, From The Inside, and Hit The Floor
Linkin Park has always been a band that can be quite difficult for me to listen to without getting really emotional, and that doubled over after Chester's death. Before his death, I did listen to the lyrics and the messages, a lot of them hit home for me. Songs like Breaking the Habit and Numb we're some of them. However, after his death I was able to hear even more, I could truly hear the expression of his pain and struggle in the lyrics, in his voice, everything just clicked. The song With You (which obviously isn't on this album, it's on Hybrid Theory) is an example of a song that I never really completely clicked with much. I remember listening to it after hearing the tragic news and the bridge of the song where he sings about "No matter how far we've come I cant wait to see tomorrow" hit me so hard. Chester is gone physically, but he will always remain within the music he had such a passion for and put his whole heart into.
A lot of people perceived Meteora and Hybrid Theory in the same spectrum. But I personally think that Meteora presented Linkin Park in a more evolved and mature musicians. Also majority of the songs were quite relatable for every other person.
This was one of the first albums I actually FELT. Sure, later in life I found bands I love more, and I found other albums I felt more.... BUT damn, dude. Meteora is tough. I felt this album so strong... especially as someone who also went through child abuse like Chester did. So much of the album is about that, and how he felt.
I watched this video six months ago only having listened to Numb and Heavy. Meteora is now one of my favorite albums of all time and Linkin Park is one of my favorite artists.
Listened to it today, my first taste of Linkin Park. I'd give it a 7/10, it had a few problems but was a really enjoyable listen and I'll definitely check out their other stuff. Favourites: Breaking The Habit, Don't Stay, Lying From You, Easier to Run, Numb Least favourites: Hit The Floor, Nobody's Listening, Session
Just realized it's been 15 yrs and Meteora CD is still in my car along with Hybrid Theory CD. Meteora is my favorite LP album and one of my most favorite albums overall.
Coming up on the 20 year anniversary and that blows my mind. This is one of my top three albums ever made and I owe it my life, literally. We miss you Chester RIP. So maybe a ranking of all the songs to celebrate, 😉 . Anyways great video Jon.
1. A Thousand Suns 2. Meteora 3. Hybrid Theory 4. One More Light (I know this isn't a popular opinion lol) 5. The Hunting Party 6. Minutes to Midnight 7. Living Things Just personally how I'd rate all of the Linkin Park albums. I love all of them tho
i got the album when this video came out i use to have it on my computer but then it got accidently deleted so i had to rebuy this album on Google Play Music
I'm the same as you, Meteora was my first album and the album which got me into music. It has a very special place in my love of music. I never had the same connection to the album as you did as a teen. But now I relate and it speaks to me in a more powerful way. More so than the first time I heard it when I was 12. It changed my life on a big way when I was 12, hit me like a ton of bricks. But now understanding the lyrics and relating to them, is the same feelings from the first time I listened to it. Just a wave now and not bricks :) It is hard listening to Meteora and Hybrid Theory now with Chester gone. But it gives more weight and other meanings to the songs, which makes them better. Because you fall deeper into the songs and get lost in the art.
Possibly an unpopular opinion, but I think Meteora is even better than Hybrid Theory. Lyrics are better, it’s more interesting, musically. Love Hybrid Theory, but love Meteora a bit more.
I agree.
Meteora is a literal copy/paste of Hybrid Theory and while it builds on the concept I still thinks it's tasteless
Michael Bunn nothing on Hybrid Theory was on the level of Breaking the Habit. Meteora takes what Hybrid Theory did and runs with it masterfully.
Same here
Agree
Here is an interesting explanation on the glass breaking in "Foreword" from Mike:
"Foreword" is just an intro. If you know what Foley work is, it's my first attempt at Foley work. Basically, it's noises I made in the studio breaking things. We have this CD player and CD burner attached to my computer, which basically just ate shit during the writing process. It gave Chester and I such a hard time! I just got so frustrated with the thing, I put it to the side knowing that I was going to beat it with a baseball bat and that's what I did. I smashed it with a baseball bat on metal table."
That's actually a dope idea for an intro
So, you recommended "Faint" as good workout music, but I wonder: Do you think listening to "Easier to Run" would make it easier to run?
Hopefully I don't stay on the floor. That is not somewhere I belong.
Don’t stay on the floor bro.
Did you faint and hit the floor?
Don’t you think it will make you numb
don’t stay with just one song
Best Linkin Park album. First album that got me into Hard Rock and Heavy Metal and I have never looked back. Linkin Park were the sound of my High School years and I love them for it.
I got METEORA as a Christmas present one year and its still my favorite album to this day
purple headed hedgehog same
I found LP right after my parents split up. They were all I listened to for a few months, they really helped me. I cried when I heard about Chester's death and will continue to be a LP fan. This is definitely their best album.

heisedren I grew up with a similar experience too, me and my sister both shared a passion for linkin park after she got me into music like it. It's great knowing someone else had a experience like mine with linkin park.
Same, my older brother would always play Meteora
I have the same connection with Minutes To Midnight
JakePM30 mtm is my third fav
JakePM30 seriously it is a good album
JakePM30 good choice:)
JakePM30 Completely agree, although Meteora isn't exactly a "close" 2nd for me. MTM is my favorite by a decent margin.
One of the best albums of the 2000s definitely...
Thanks for going through this brilliant album again. I've sung this entire album (11 full-length songs back-to-back) to the official instrumentals several times in our school's music club.
By the way, I'm a teacher, not a student :)
Take care!
Cafe Latte Must be one hell of a _teacher!_
Muhammad Mirsab Thanks for the comment! And thanks to Jon for ❤ my reply!
Plot twist... I run the music club. 😁
I can sing about 30 different LP songs, but I'm sure there are LP soldiers here who can sing more than that.

Cafe Latte Sadly I don’t know many Linkin Park songs, however I can sing most twenty one pilots songs
Cafe Latte YW
This album always reminds me of old times ....I agree with your score
I came a little late to the party. I discovered LP with Minutes. Meteora is their finest album. 15 years later still sounds fresh. Favorite song in the album Lying From You!!!!
LP is my favorite band , the first rock band I ever listen to, used to listen a lot of pop back in the days.
I will forever love Linkin Park.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
The video was great btw!!
I can really hear the emotion in your voice, especially during BTH and Numb. Wonderful review, Jon. Thank you for this and RIP Chester.
Meteora was released on my half-birthday! Best half-birthday gift possible.
Wow it's been 15 years? That's crazy. I'm 15.
Same
Fucking crazy, man
Same, it has a special place in my heart because of it
Same bro.. It's crazy how I find Meteora so nostalgic even though I was barley alive when it came out
I can relate, i can remember my dad showing me Meteora and Hybrid Theory, man! Those were the times....
Man, this album means so much to me!
Breaking the Habit is my personal national anthem
Ádám Nagy same with me. There's no best album, depends on your mood
Dam, I had no idea that it's been out for 15 years. R.I.P. Chester you will be forever missed.
Can't believe my favorite album of all time is as old as me
In 2003 I lost the love of my life at the time lol, but I of course thought it was my entire life so this record helped me from committing suicide on my college campus.
REST IN PEACE CHESTER BENINGTON 😢
Meteora was actually the first lp album I heard when I was 5. Back when the Matrix reloaded came out and was big. Then I heard hybrid theory. I’m glad I was exposed to this at such a young age
Meteora was one of the best albums ever made. My personal favorite album. I really miss Chester and wish that he was still here. Rest in peace brother
When you're started talking about 'Numb' and how LP performed it without Chester at Hollywood Bowl, I started crying like I was after Chester passed away..
This album and ATS are my favorite from them. Hybrid Theory is a close 3rd.
Yay, I'm not the only guy making a throwback today! I was actually listening to this CD full volume yesterday while shaving for my girlfriend's crappy prom. The beginning is so good, and this was probably the best 2003 had to offer.
I agree 💯 Meteora. Is one of the greatest albums ever made. It got me through a lot
that was such a good video wow congrats, so many different memories popping up right now
I still think Numb is the best song Linkin Park has ever made, and one of the best rock songs of all time. Like this album is a 10/10, but Numb manages to stand out even among that.
My favourite Linkin Park album and my favourite album overall

13:05 Yes, it pumps me up and gets me moving and you're so accurate on the latter part too cos coincidentally I literally just worked out to _Faint_ a few hours before watching this video!
Great album, but I found it kind of repetitive. I mean, Figure 09, Don't Stay, Lying From You all sound the same. Still amazing album. Anyways, that's how it goes for me:
1) The Hunting Party
2) Hybrid Theory
3) Meteora
4) ATS
5) MTM
6) Living Things
7) OML
This album was life changing for me too. It was the first LP album that I owned. I remember blasting it in my room and singing along all the time. It is still my favorite LP album.

Meteora is a genius work.
Amazing review Jon! Fun fact the guy on the album cover is guitarist Brad (im pretty sure), they said in the making of meteora documentary :)
Oh nice! Learn something every day.
ARTV yeah i recommended the documentary if u haven't seen it before, seeing how they crafted some of the songs i really cool
Respect for your video! This is an amazing tribute to the band and to Chester!
After really digging Hybrid Theory, I asked for Meteora as a birthday present. It was released exactly on my 13th birthday and it's been my favourite LP album ever since.
The Somewhere I Belong intro at high volume in my headphones just fills me with pure nostalgia
Simply one of the best albums in modern rock music!
I remember this album from my childhood. as I watched the music videos for its singels on television. I was 9 year old when this album was released, so this album is just nostalgic for me. :)
Hearing Chester sing some of my favorite lyrics ever haunts me now...
:(
This album is one of the very first records I ever remember hearing.
One of my favourite albums of all time!
Watching this review as I hold the Meteora CD against my chest. Great job once again, Jon.
Oh no don't cry youma make me cry >~
I'm not going to lie, I only watch your Linkin Park videos, but man do you always do great. Thank you and I appreciate it.
Wow you actually made it thank you so much
Still one of the best albums made to date
I have 3 album
Meteora
Hybrid theory
And minutes to midnight
My top 3 favourite LP albums in order.
❤❤I cried towards the end
I'm 13 and this my favorite album
The guy on the front is the guitarist I forgot his name but yea they explain it on the making meteora documentary
Damn, 15 years already? Wow I'm already almost 20.
This album is literally one of my favorite albums ever. Maybe even in my top 3.
#ripchester
Bro, that's sick!! you got to meet them!!!! RIP Chester B.
Wow I didn't even know, what a coincidence, I just literally yesterday bought Meteroa on Vinyl
Can you please review A Thousand Suns. It's hella underrated and thier most experimental work yet.
That is incredible man. He sounds like an awesome guy.
I agree with all of the things you said. This album have help me very much and these songs helped me to not feels so along. The fact that you talk so honestly about your experiences and feelings about the album is remarkable. Love to you and other LP-fans.
Thank you so much for this great vid.
tbh this is one of the few albums that i can consistently listen the whole way through without getting tired of it. easily a 10/10 in my book
Ahh I’m so grateful that you reviewed this! I hope you bring pretty. odd. on your channel soon too 😍 You’re gonna get to 100k this year I just know it!
😃
Meteora is going through its Meteora phase.
One of my top 5 albums of all time. Such an amazing album from start to finish
Numb is pretty much the most important song i had in my life.Amazing song and amazing album. And whoever is cutting onions stop i dont wanna cry :/
Wow this album has aged really well
Linkin Park has always been a band that can be quite difficult for me to listen to without getting really emotional, and that doubled over after Chester's death.
Hybrid Theory is Nostalgia, Meteora my Favorite from my third favorite Band. Breaking the Habit 😢 Still sad but moving on.
This is my favorite LP album
i grew up with this album, and i still love it. i also found out that i was born ten days after meteora was released.
Damn you are TALL. Chester was 5'10 and you look way taller. You're like 6'5 at least
Meteora was the first album I ever owned.
*Yes* , just been listening to LP the last 2 hours, perfect timing!
I had that Faint rap memorized when I was 5 😎
I love this album so much. Numb is my all time favorite song, and I fell in love with Linkin Park through this album
Listened to it today, my first taste of Linkin Park. I'd give it a 7/10, it had a few problems but was a really enjoyable listen and I'll definitely check out their other stuff.
Favourites: Breaking The Habit, Don't Stay, Lying From You, Easier to Run, Numb
Least favourites: Hit The Floor, Nobody's Listening, Session
I just picked up Hybrid Theory a few days ago on vinyl, at a Chapters no less! I LOVE it! I need to get Meteora.
Just realized it's been 15 yrs and Meteora CD is still in my car along with Hybrid Theory CD. Meteora is my favorite LP album and one of my most favorite albums overall.
Coming up on the 20 year anniversary and that blows my mind.

i got the album when this video came out i use to have it on my computer but then it got accidently deleted so i had to rebuy this album on Google Play Music
Somewhere i belong..... i forgot about this one, love it.
