True. But a lot of the songs are about fighting the pronlem. Fighting the abuse, the depression, the addictions. Not caving in, but fighting back and saying "no" you won't break. Which is great in the end. Like you don't hear in pretty much all of these tracks any giving in to the hardships talked about.
I love that you 'get it'. This music... yes it is about having negative emotions; rage, melancholy, anxiety... but alongside that it's very much about addressing those. It's very much about having hope for a future where you can move on past it and remove what's toxifying your life rather than getting mired in it. I feel like most reviewers from the outside miss that element, even though sooo many people latched on back then because this stuff got them through hard times. It got them through because it's about getting through. It's saying 'hey times are rough. Yeah me too. let's go on forward and not dwell'
Everyone, understandably credits Chester a great deal for his incredible vocals and what he contributed to Linkin Park. He deserves his flowers. But I've never felt that Mike Shinoda fully gets his dues. Without his innovation, LP never get as huge as they did.
I saw LP live in 2015 in San Antonio at River City Rockfest. They closed out the festival with an hour and a half long performance. One of my best memories of my life. One of the greatest voices ever in Chester.
Early Linkin Park is fantastic. Later Linkin Park is also fantastic. Minutes to Midnight, their next album, is a big shift and an important part of their evolution but it's still so great as are their other more recent albums. Chester's vocals are consistently fantastic whether he's doing those hard hitting screams or those softer vocals or anything in between. Mike's raps are also great and I like how his rapping and vocal ability develops over time. LP sometimes get flack for being too samey but if you heard all of their albums after Meteora, that argument holds no water
Amazing reaction man! I’m really excited for Minutes to Midnight and A Thousand Suns. Two very different albums that have grown on me hugely over the last decade, to the point where I feel like ATS is their best album and I consider myself a huuuge fan and lucky enough to have seen them live 3 times. -you can also guarantee that every song is as good or better live (generally better) than the studio versions.
Thankfully I got to see Linkin park in 2014, they were absolutely amazing, me, my friend and my mom all lost our voices from singing along to every song lol.
I hope you listen to A Thousand Suns, its one of my favorites. I'm glad that recently more people have started liking the album because when it came out a lot of people didn't like it since its so much different from their 3 albums before it
Saw Linkin Park at what was the old Acer Arena in Sydney, one of the best time ive ever had, im so glad i did it. Massive energy, all the sweat all the screaming lyrics, it was amazing. The very first CD i brought was the Reanimation album, thinking it was the standard Hybrid Theory. Listened to it once, immediately walked down to the music shop and got Hybrid Theory as well. Was hooked ever since.
Happy to see someone dancing and feeling the music I've listened to since the very beginning. Linkin Park is one of the best bands on the planet, period.
I love how they had the instrumental it gives the people who do all the sound to shine which is what I loved about this album you get Chester’s scream and singing, then mikes amazing flow which mike is the reason why I love rap and then the sound of the instruments is beautiful especially in breaking the habit
Forgot how much I love this album, definitely a more refined project and the Hip hop elements are fire. Super excited for your Hail To the Thief listen - any clues as to when you might?
Hip hop elements were soooo good hmmm got a fair bit ready for the end of the year Some Pink Floyd coming this week, which im keen for hoping to return to Radiohead Jan next year
Love your react!😉I wanna say to you just this. I adore each Linkin Park's album. Also Mike Shinoda's "Post Traumatic" that deserves to be heard. So I wait... Greetings from Italy 🎶🤟🏼
PLEASE do A Thousand Suns. The best Linkin Park album because it transcends the angst and delivers more maturity while still having a strong central theme/core.
I love Meteora and Hybrid Theory but I am always sad that people start and end their LP journey on these two. If you ever have the time please listen to their other albums too! Imo A Thousand Suns and The Hunting Party are their best albums and most people have not listened to them at all (especially The Hunting Party).
Although none of the songs in A Thousand Suns is my fav personally, that album as a whole is one of my fav album of all time. None of the song really stands out for me, but listening to the whole album track by track is an amazing experience, it feels like going through a journey.
I only got to see them the once right after Hybrid Theory came out, right before Meteora was released. They were touring with Apex Theory, The Executioners, hed PE (which I had never heard of til that night) bought an album after the show, there was supposed to be 2 more playing that night that didn't show and it bummed me out. Kittie and System of a Down was supposed to be there as well, but they didn't show. Linkin Park and hed PE were amazing, Apex Theory only had the one hit as far as I know, and the Executioners were a sort of project with Mike Shinoda, they were OK.
Hey Jack👋 Hope you're doin well Enjoyed the video, enjoyed your take and thrilled that you loved album and even hybrid theory from last time. Lot of people think LP sold out after this with their Minutes to Midnight album or really lost themselves after this album, but as a huge fan of the band i disagree and feel like the rest of their discography after this as well is fire. They are super different and diverse, but sound so good despite being so experimental and transcending genre, which in my eyes is my LP is probably the best band ever. Take care and wish you well. p.S: You'd be stoked if ya tried out their 3rd album "minutes to midnight" ( one of tgheir most underrated/overhated albums) you could try out their "a thousand suns" album after this.(it's an album unlike any other.super experimental/unique and considered to be their "dark side of the moon".
Hey Arnav Thanks for checking out the vid! Im very much keen to keep checking out more from this band, and of course will always go into each album with an open mind!
Tossed a sub just because you listened to the whole damn album. You really need to experience their albums in their entirety. Their live shows elevate their songs to the next level.
Yo I would love to hear your thoughts on the rest of their discography and see how their sound evolved and changed over time. Also Meteora 20th anniversary is dropping soon with new unreleased tracks from the album recording sessions. Peace!
I could be wrong, but I think Breaking the Habit is actually a really dark song that describes the thoughts and emotions of someone about to commit suicide. Lines like "I'll paint it on the walls, I'll never fight again, and this is how it ends..." or "I don't know how I got this way, I'll never be alright. So I'm breaking the habit tonight" .. aka killing themself. To me it's clear that the person has stopped fighting to fix their problems and has given up. It doesn’t feel like an optimistic song about overcoming substance abuse.
Fun fact: in somewhere I belong, the acoustic guitar chords in the beginning are reversed. They rearranged the chord progression from 4 3 2 1 to 1 2 3 4 while each segment is still reversed
Here my list of the best live performances. First is the hard aggressive version, second(/) is mostly the softer one: Don't stay: live in texas Somewhere i belong: live in texas or rock am ring (best intro) / telekom berlin is softer (and also great intro) Lying from you: live in texas, jimmy / milton Keynes Easier to run: there is only one live version Faint: top of the pops / rock am ring 2007 i think Breaking the habit: rock am ring or live in japan / live in red square From the inside: live in japan / milton Keynes Numb: rock am ring (great intro), live in texas / madison square or telekom berlin
I genuinely hope you dive into their collab album with Jay--Z next. It's a short one, but it's such an easy album to throw on repeat and let the day fly by.
Meteora is great and "Lying From You" is probably my favorite LP song, but Hybrid Theory is their best album and maybe my favorite album from any band.
Saw LP 4 times in Florida. Just as good live, if not better. Plus all the concerts were solid, with great musicians. Wish I could go to just 1 more show.
as a linkin park fan, you need to do these bands too Limp Bizkit: Significant Other, Chocolate Starfish, and Gold Cobra Hed PE: Self titled and Broke Korn: shit, all there stuff😂
Not sure if this in the same lane you're currently in but if you're after new musical rabbit holes to jump down, I'm gonna be that guy and suggest Slipknot. I'd especially be interested in how you interpret their self-titled album, and then Iowa. Note: to begin with. Anyway thanks for the reaction to this, dude. Linkin Park are absolutely immortal.
I enjoy linkin park live more than the albums. You get a more authentic sound from them, even though mike shinoda was the main one producing everything, they still had the record label messing with their sound
Masters of the song intro. I don't have a favourite album. Taken separately they are great in their own way. Hunting Party is probably the one i have least connection with.
Tier 1 Meteora Tier 2 Hybrid Theory, Minutes to Midnight, A Thousand Suns Tier 3 Living Things, The Hunting Party Tier 4 One More Light Just my opinion.
You should react to the Hybrid Theory EP. It's a seven song ep they made before getting signed to WB and before they even took the name Linkin Park for the band. It's a super raw, but unique fusion of sounds and it's guitars and sampling and turntables are fucking FILTHY
PLEASE do A Thousand Suns. The best Linkin Park album because it transcends the angst and delivers more maturity while still having a strong central theme/core.
Never heard so many songs about being depressed, drug addicted, or down in the dumps being taken with such a positive spin
This gave me a good chuckle lol
chill out

Chester was the frontman and the core of the band, but Mike is undoubtedly the heart and soul. There is no Linkin Park without Mike Shinoda
@@KeithButterman there is no linkin park without both of them
@@rodiz830 obviously, yeah. I was just responding to the true statement that Mike doesn't get enough credit for the success of LP
Both Shinoda and Mr Han don't get the credit they deserve.
