This was the album that got me into Linkin Park. I had heard Crawling previously but I didn't know who the band was at that point. Then Meteora was released. I got my hands on it (I think I stole it from my older brother to be honest) and listened to it on repeat.
Sometimes when listening to "Hit the Floor", I like to sing "GIMMIE SRIRACHA!" when the chorus starts & making the whole chorus about wanting hot sauce 😂
"I can't address every little tidbit of information about Linkin Park, because this video would be two hours long" Oh, you mean just like a regular Crash Thompson video ! XD
I dated a girl in China who was in college and a guy walked into her class talking about the song "Breaking the Habit" and she said "my boyfriend loves that song", he looked at her and was impressed.
Yeah for sure is Some other underrated songs from them include Pushing Me Away, The Little Things Give you Away, I'll be Gone, In My Remains, No More Sorrow, and Burning in the Skies. There's more but there'll be too many to mention
I remember hearing “Breaking the Habit” on the way home from community college on the alt. rock radio station. I wanna say 2013 or so. By the end of the month, I had this album.
The weirdest thing I ever heard at church was a soft piano version of "The Pirates of the Carribbean" theme song. No one seemed to have noticed and I wasn't even sure of myself but afterwards I went to the pianist, asked him and he confirmed. That was f'in amazing
Ha! Strangely before a "baptism", at this Beach front church they actually played Numb, I was visiting with a friend and I looked at her and was like hmmm. Cool church.
"Nobody's Listening" was the song that got me into Linkin Park. I still adore that song. I was introduced to it when a cabinmate at summer camp let me listen to her copy of Meteora. After I got home from camp, Meteora became the second ever rock album I bought.
The only reason I can write here in English is because of those guys. I literally learned English because I wanted to know what they were singing about and just like you, I like Meteora more than Hybrid Theory. As in HT I think they were free to create and explore more, I see Meteora, although more contained album, as a more focused CD. Apart maybe from Nobody's Listening, none of the other songs feel dislocated (IN MY OPINION). The main criticism about Meteora is that it sounds like a copy version of HT, and IT IS, the band itself have already admitted that before, however that doesn't take away the fact the album repeats the successful part of the formula, and minimizes the mistakes. My only wish is that, even though I'm a huge fan of the M2M and followers, I just wish they had released a third album with that same vibe. No other band had the same impact those guys had on me and I know this is something simple as music, and they probably I'll never read this, I'll be forever thankful to them because I still remember the first time I've heard their songs and it's a just like Christmas' Eve for me.
I was born in '03, so this album came well after my time. However, as I got older I mostly look at stuff I missed anyway. And I loved this album. If I were around during that time, I would've had some great nostalgia looking back.
So my biggest Linkin park memory? I was going through a tough time, grieving over my mother's death, one of my sister's had kicked me out of home, i was jobless and didn't know what to do with my life. I had taken a walk and "waiting for the end" came over the radio. And somehow, the song captured everything that I was feeling. So much so, that i can't listen to it without thinking about what I was going through. I still love the song, it helped me Express everything when i couldn't.
"From the Inside" is my favorite Linkin Park song. I don't know who to trust and I'm not surprised. 20 years later, I still don't trust anyone. Unwilling trust someone not to hurt me like I've been hurt in the past, I derailed my social life. I was social distancing before they started making us practice it. I know I'll spend my life alone but at least I know I'll never get hurt again. Am I ashamed I can't trust someone to spend their life with me? Yeah, and I'm taking that to my grave. I'm feeling pretty numb about a lot of things, and I'm happy to feel numb. Still my favorite verse, was "Against my will I stand by my own reflection It's haunting How I can't seem to find myself again. My walls are closing in."
I met Mike Shinoda near my hometown on Long Island where he was signing and promoting Post Traumatic and I told him that whatever he and the guys decide to do, that me and probably everyone on line, will understand and be behind them 100%
Hunting party has been overlooked to exhaustion in my opinion. Keys to the kingdom, all for nothing, rebellion, war, and til it’s gone are some of my fav LP songs Edit: also guilty all the same
Even as my music tastes have moved to “objectively” better bands like Tool, Nine Inch Nails, and Deftones, Meteora still remains my favorite album of all time. It was my gateway to rock music and I owe a lot of my music taste to that album.
Breaking the Habit is my second favorite Linkin Park song, it doesn't quite beat out Waiting For the End for me but it is fantastic and the music video? *chef's kiss* magnificent
Meteora is my favorite Linkin Park album, and one of my Top 4 albums of all time. Every song is a valuable diamond that creates a beautiful tapestry of an album. Numb has been my favorite song by them right there with New Divide, Faint is a metalhead's moshing fuel, Somewhere I Belong is a fun tune that never gets old, but every song here has a great meaning and help truly define the band as the creative genius juggernauts that they are. Hybrid Theory ripped down the walls for the band to make their way through, but Meteora reconstructed those walls into their own path that I feel many others have tried to follow to this day. This was a great celebration of music, and I'm glad to know another fellow LP fan with the same favorite LP album! Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
Totally agree. I love Hybrid Theory (and Minutes to Midnight honestly), but Meteora is my favorite LP album. It has a more refined, slightly more mature progression from Hybrid Theory while still having that definitive, aggressive rap/rock sound.
I feel like "Minutes to midnight" and "A thousand suns" which are the two following albums have gotten better with age. This is coming from someone who was a freshman in high school when Hybrid theory came out. I'll admit that I didn't like those two albums as much when I was younger but I really enjoy listening to them now. Maybe it's just nostalgia or Chester's passing but some of the songs on thier albums really hit a soft spot.
This is, hands down, my favorite Linkin Park album. I started with Hybrid Theory when I was in 6th grade. But then I moved to Middle school, and let me tell you, if there was an album to get you through the hellish nightmare of the teenage angst and hormones that is middle school, it's Meteora. This album opened up my eyes to the music world, hell, it pretty much defined my music taste for the rest of my life.
I remember getting Meteora putting it my CD player and just sitting on bedroom floor listening to whole album mesmerized. One of favorite albums of all time!
Omg, what a dreadful, wish I could erase from my memory time of my life. I was deep in an opiod addiction, served a 3 month jail sentence for "bad decisions", which chain reaction caused me to lose custody of my children. Then I was released, the first CD I bought was Meteora, and I would listen to this the entire one hour bus ride to and from all my outpatient classes. I would listen to this falling asleep at night, I had to buy 3 CDs as I literally wore this album out. Meteora was part of my getting sober era, the lack of mental clarity, coupled with physical withdrawal, all while couch surfing from family member to friends because I was virtually homeless. I was screaming on the inside, I hated and loathed myself. I remember"Easier to Run" "Breaking the habit", actually every single song on this album would resonate why I can't say F--k it. I was 28. Just listening to samples now is so powerful, goose bump crazy good. Amazing how music is so emotionally connected in us, even though the worst time of my life, I can reflect listening to Meteora with nothing but gratitude that I survived.
20 years ago... man, I feel old. I got into Linkin Park back in high school (...yes, I know...), I remember waiting to go to class in the morning while listening to them on my old CD player (kids, ask your parents). Even now, they're still my all-time favorite band and I'm not ashamed to admit it.
I think that you do 'Easier to Run' a disservice. It's a fucking great track, and the harmonies are sensational. 'Breaking the Habit' is a unique track that deserves far more credit. Love the album as a whole, and this was a decent video.
I'm so glad that Chester's legacy is living on. Hell, both Numb AND In the End both have over 1 BILLION views, which is fucking insane, especially for 2000s rock. It really just shows how a few people can change everything.
I was 10 years old when Meteroa was released. The first time I listened to it changed my music taste and to this day still has a huge impact on my life. The Don’t Stay guitar riff is one of the reasons I wanted to pick up a guitar. Such an inspiring album from front to back, and it will forever have an impact on my life.
I cannot lie, Linkin Park (and Green Day) were the bands that brought me to music in the mid-2000s (through Naruto AMVs, but ya gotta start somewhere.) It still boggles my mind that the song that introduced me to them, "In the End" was on Kidz Bop 3. Gotta start somewhere.
A favorite?? This album is making a mess out of me trying to figure out a favorite!! Its a great problem to have when your favorite track of this album changes overtime. Great Video!!
I love all of LP's albums. But HT and Meteora will always be my favourites. Here's my ranking, feel free to leave yours! 1. HT(my favorite album of all time) 2. Meteora(my 3rd favorite album of all time) 3. ATS(yes, I love ATS) 4. THP 5. MTM 6. LT 7. OML
Mine: 1. Meteora 2. Hunting Party 3. Hybrid Theory 4. Minutes To Midnight 5. A Thousand Suns 6. Living Things 7. One More Light (Their weakest by a landslide)
Personally I'd say 1) Meteora 2) Hybrid Theory 3) Living Things (I know shocking) 4) Minutes To Midnight 5) Hunting Party 6) A Thousand Suns (although it does have one of my favorite songs with Burning In The Skies) I've never listened to One More Light so I can't rank it.
I have memories of liking Linkin Park when i began listen to rock music on my own in elementary school, but i only listen to singles and stuff like that. In that time i was very insecure of being told that i had a "basic" taste for liking this band and like that i stop hearing the band saying "this is for edgelords that are triying to feel special" meanwhile i myself tried feeling special for saying that stuff, ironic, i know. 9 years later and i'm in the twilight of my adolescence and, for this video, i decided to finally hear the album on its entirety....when the album was over (and after i hear Lying from you 5 times) i wanted to cry, i wanted to cry because i wanted to go back in time and hear this when i was a middle school idiot, and also wanted to tell myself to not care about those stupid comments on the internet and just enjoy the music. Their comments are just temporary but the impact that the music can give you is eternal. Thank you so much, Luke, for finally making me hear this masterpiece and yeah, Lying from you and Figure.09 are my favorite songs in the album. Love your content
I clicked it after watching another unrelated channel First time wacther and I find another Fanboy of Linkin Park Meteora. I think I should bring it back on the next road trip with my bro
I considered Faint my first "Legendary Tier" song, as while I loved all of Meteora, I simply could not get enough of Faint when it came to do something serious in a game or etc. Shoutouts to Justin Lassen for the incredible EMT remix of the song, too, which completely blew my mind upon first listen.
Linkin Park was my massive gateway to rock music and Hybrid Theory and Meteora helped me get through that style of music because it was so beautiful, energetic and dynamic. If it wasn't Linkin Park, I wouldn't have known what rock music sounded like. Because of them, my taste really shifted towards rock and anything related to rock.
In my opinion, LP was one of the only good bands in nu metal. The only other good nu metal bands in my opinion are Korn, Deftones, Slipknot and SOAD. Meteora and HT were two examples of nu metal being way more than Fred Durst.
hybrid theory came out my freshman or sophmore year (cant remember when it came out in 2000 exactly) this came out 3 months before i graduated during my senior year. to say this band defined my high school years is an understatement and i was devistated when chester passed away
I love this album so many good songs my brother bought meteora back in 06 when I heard it could not get enough of it happy to know I'm not alone in this
Hard to believe that the genre is mocked now but to me nu-metal was the simply best kind of music growing up and I still listen to it to this day. Linkin Park was certainly one of the best examples of the rap-metal genre and you can tell when an album is good when you can memorize the lyrics to every track, as was the case for me and Meteora and Hybrid Theory.
I don't really remember my introduction to Linkin Park, but i do know that every song of theirs had and still has such a powerful affect on my life. I will forever love linkin park, no matter what else i listen to
I used to listen to this all the time in middle school. And while I'm not exactly the angsty type (I'm very happy-go-lucky and upbeat), I have a soft spot for nu metal.
I gotta say, i find Hybrid Theory and Meteora quite equally good. But "From the Inside" is the highlight for me here. That song with the piano melodies in the verses, back-and-forth vocals from Chester and Mike, very catchy chorus and heavy breakdown make it the definitive old school Linkin Park song in my mind. In fact, the three songs in a row From the Inside - Nobody's Listening - Session is the best part of the album.
You said it best, man. Meteora was more solid and refined. Seeing you go over it, it did have a bunch of sounds that allowed for experimentation like "Nobody's Listening."
I memorized the lyrics to numb. I remember February of '04 I was in basic training and had mentioned that I knew the lyrics and I was challenged to sing in front of my flight. Fast forward October '18 I'm at a Mike Shinoda concert and he led the audience in a group sing of numb and it was a powerful moment to say the least.
Numb was my literal introduction to Linkin Park, was given the album that Christmas, & I've never looked back. Figure.09 was, to my then 13yo mind at least, the very definition of hybridising genres. I had that song on loop, along with the rest of this album incessantly, & I don't regret 1 little bit. Heck, I STILL have the very CD I was given. It'll likely never play right again, & I don't care! 😁
Theres just something special about this album, it has so many great songs and feels like the best album they produced out of all the others. And yes, Hybrid Theory is still incredible
Meteora is definitely their best. One that is forgotten is A Thousand Suns! A lot of LP fans didn't like it, but The Catalyst and Iridescent took them to a whole new level.
the way you talk about your memories of Meteora from 2003, they sound just like how i experienced Meteora as a 13 year old in 7th grade with my best friends in school ❤
I think my problem with Hybrid Theory is that, in hindsight, much of that album comes across as to juvinile for its own good. Song like Crawling and One Step Closer are unfortunately why LP has such a bad rep to the average person until Chester passed. I think Meteora is all the good of Hybrid Theory without any of the bad.
I have many late memories of this album. I was very very little when this album, but I bought it when I was 11. I've been flip flopping back and forth between Hybrid Theory and Meteora trying to decide which one I thought was their best. I know some people think Hybrid Theory is their best and I understand that, but for me it's Meteora. I'm almost on the verge of weeping every time I hear Breaking the Habit and Numb.
"Numb" is the result of going through a therapy "Session" and the main character of the album coming to grips with understanding the many things discussed with his non-existent therapist character (the music itself?). It might be reaching, but I like the theory :)
So many Linkin Park memories! My first is singing embarrassingly loud to "In the End" at school with my friends in 5th grade, but I got into them more when my 7th grade boyfriend let me borrow Hybrid Theory, and I bought Meteora for him. I used Hybrid Theory as my alarm to wake up in 8th grade, and in general during that angsty year I related. Minutes to Midnight reminds me of high school. Later in college and after I saw them twice, both times with the same boyfriend (now an ex). Watching them live was the best! And, it never fails to make great exercise as it always gets me pumped 😝
I was very active in a church in my youth. We went to a conference on year and one of the seminars was called Finding the Sacred In the Secular. They showed a piece of art, a film clip and played a song. The song they played was Easier To Run. This just shows that when music is really great, anyone can find something to enjoy in it

Meteora > Hybrid Theory
Agreed
Hunting Party > Hybrid Theory as well imo, Meteora is still my favorite though
To me, all of the albums are pretty neck and neck except for One More Light which is an easy last place.
By a LOOONNNGGGG shot
Meteora is way better. Hands down.
“Meteora” and “Hybrid Theory” were nu metal at its finest!
That's a weird way of saying Obsolete by Fear Factory
Facts
I don’t think Meteora is Nu-Metal. I would consider it Alternative. HT was definitely Nu-Metal though.
SOAD also
@@ryanbollinger1759 Meteora had some nu metal influences.
Chester Bennington was the only musician I cried about when they died. He helped me through so many dark days.
Same here. I cried when he died and I found myself crying a few more times after. He's been my idol for as long as I can remember
Same man, i was so destroyed because of it
I discovered the band in December 2018, a year and a half after Chester's suicide, and I still bawl my eyes to it.
That shit fuckin sucked on god I wasn't following the band as closely as I used to at that time and it still fuckin hit

The entire album is just amazing. I couldn't pick a favorite

Numb was the first real LP song I fell in love with. But to continue w/o Chester is like how Queen's resurgence currently with Adam Lambert
Been waiting for this one. Easily my favorite LP album. RIP Chester.
I've never been able to decide which album was my favorite. So they both are. This is my teenage years right here
I clicked it after watching another unrelated channel
First time wacther and I find another Fanboy of Linkin Park Meteora.
I think I should bring it back on the next road trip with my bro
Glad to hear that Meteora is your favourite LP album aswell
I considered Faint my first "Legendary Tier" song, as while I loved all of Meteora, I simply could not get enough of Faint when it came to do something serious in a game or etc. Shoutouts to Justin Lassen for the incredible EMT remix of the song, too, which completely blew my mind upon first listen.
Faint is my favorite workout song. It gets me so hyped. I’m not a muscle head but goddamn is that an adrenaline shot in the heart.
Holds up way better then hybrid theory imo
One of the the fines examples of what nu metal was capable of. So good.
If the WMG claims get out of hand, you could try employing Jim Sterling's "Copyright deadlock" method.
I don't really remember my introduction to Linkin Park, but i do know that every song of theirs had and still has such a powerful affect on my life. I will forever love linkin park, no matter what else i listen to
Meteora was my introduction to Linkin Park. I haven't listened to this album in one sitting in years...and now I have a reason to 👍 great vid
From The Inside is my FAVORITE Linkin Park song EVER
The ALL TIME FAVORITE we have ALL been waiting for!! My favorite album of theirs (and probably 90% of the people who watch your videos).
Still my favorite band, and still my favorite album
This is hands down the best LP album. And it's my favorite album of all time
While Hybrid Theory isn't much older or all that much different, I feel Meteora was both a stronger album and has aged better than the debut.
You said it best, man. Meteora was more solid and refined. Seeing you go over it, it did have a bunch of sounds that allowed for experimentation like "Nobody's Listening."
I always thought Hunting Party was the best LP album, Meteora is a close second though!
Same here, even if u prefer Meteora's lyrical content than The hunting party ( that doesn-t mean that THP don't have a good lyrical content )
I remember listening to some of these songs all the time on the radio.
Good times.
Meteora and A Thousand Suns have always been my favorites
Hey Luke, first time I got to catch a premier. Another great video, keep up the great work. 👍🏻
I audibly squealed when I saw this got uploaded. The first album I ever owned, and it still holds up well to this day!
So, in the end, hybrid theory doesn't even matter?
Meteora is my favorite linkin park album, every song stands out, every song could've been a smash hit. This band just spoke to my soul. Nice review.
Meteora is also one of my ATF albums 😁👍
I am late to the "Rocked" channel party, but this video is 100% true fact.
This band is so amazing! They've kept getting better and better with each album!
I remember listening to this album all day for one year straight when I was a teen. Damn this album didn't age a thing.
"Numb" is the result of going through a therapy "Session" and the main character of the album coming to grips with understanding the many things discussed with his non-existent therapist character (the music itself?). It might be reaching, but I like the theory :)
I also agree that Meteora is better than Hybrid Theory but they are both amazing albums
I love this album. Hybrid Theory still holds a place in my heart, but Meteora will always be my all time fave.
Fun fact: Mike Shinoda originally sang the entirety of "Breaking The Habit" on the demo version of the song in 2002.
I'm so glad I'm not the only who thinks Meteora is their best album
I was very active in a church in my youth. We went to a conference on year and one of the seminars was called Finding the Sacred In the Secular. They showed a piece of art, a film clip and played a song. The song they played was Easier To Run. This just shows that when music is really great, anyone can find something to enjoy in it
I had a fairly long bus ride growing up and I used to listen to Meteora on repeat during the ride when I first got it.
