- I was playing with ForScan again seeing what else could be done to my current MFT Sync 2 system. I stumbled upon a forum which was able to give the non-navigation system navigation by changing a number in the APIM module from a 0 to a 4 and doing an update to the sync system. This video shows how easy it can be done.

Just want to thank you. After several back and forth's I was able to get the job done. Did this on my 2015 ford escape. Somethings were a bit different like the wallpaper, but all in all it went pretty smooth.

How did you install the 3.8 update, i keep getting this msg
“File not found please check that the installation file is in the root directory of your storage device”
These Fords are picky how the files are on the USB flash (thumb) drive. After extracting the .zip file, go into the newly created folder and copy the contents to you flash drive, you do not want the "parent" folder, just it's contents! This is the same way that you should copy .mp3 files to a flash drive if you have pre-built playlists and you want to use them.

Just added navigation to my 2013 Focus ST. For what it's worth, I was already on Sync 3.8 via Ford's latest update on the website, but just to be sure I tried to update it via the link in this video. I got a message on my screen saying I was already up to date and "installation failed". I proceeded with the Navi Patch upload which was successful and then the master reboot. Once it was done with the reboot I popped the SD card in and all worked great! I'm using an A8 card I got on eBay for $45. Thanks for the very useful video!
Wow was this easy. I downloaded Sync 3.10 and the selection on the APIM module was in plain English: ENABLE NAVIGATION. This worked so well. So far my cost to get maps on my 2015 F250 has been *zero*. The Forscan software is free and I already had the OBD interface. Thanks for the help and the easy to understand video.

Once u r finish and navigation is working. U can also turn on the turn by turn directions in the IPC. Using the Focccus application I'm using "VINT ELM327" in high speed, go to Central Config tab, do a "read from BCM" then scroll down to item "#172 Touchscreen"
2. Mine showed "With Display - No Touchscreen, Colour-TFT, DM8 without Navi", yours might be different
3. Choose "With Display - No Touchscreen, Colour-TFT, DM8 withNavi"
4. Write to BCM.
Got full navigation for the cost of NAV SD card $50CAD.
I downloaded the files first and did step by step from this video and it worked perfect, Ford Focus 2016 in uk
As mentioned earlier, the most recent FORscan program lets you just change GPS disabled to enable, walk in the park! I had already done the most recent updates when I bought the 2013 Escape, the version is 3.08xxx, not 3.8 as described in the video, my unit kept saying I had the most recent version and wouldn't load what I had on the flash drive. Everything else went according to directions. Less than thirty minutes start to finish (but I didn't have to update version, saving 15-30 minutes). Waiting on navigation SD card, 2019 maps, $45 on ebay, free shipping. Thanks so much FistofPain for the straightforward video, I did watch about four times while waiting for the OBD II communication module to arrive.

I have a 13 Escape as well. So the whole process from buying the necessary items to finish product, wasn't too much to handle? FYI - My APIM crashed, so I need to buy a used one and debating of buying one already with Nav. Not sure what to do.

It works! So what I did wrong at the navipatch part what I did was at the file I right clicked and put save as and that would save the file as a .png-HTML file so to whoever is stuck on that part as well just hit save and then find the file and move it to a empty usb and it will work. Thank you so much for this video.

Great job on this! It really helped me. For people looking to do this on 3.10, visit the forums for the new files. The links in his description only work for 3.08. I wasn't able to revert to 3.08 to do this on mine. The link for the navipatch works fine and I didn't need to edit the as built data. Forscan now will do the number changes for you. You only need to *write*, enable navigation.
Forscan now does the number change for you ? Is forscan the last procedure ? If not what are the steps in order ? Thanks

All I had to do was access the APIM(not the as built one, the regular one) and change navigation disabled to enabled, then I press write and checked that the as built had changed. It was all set! The numbers are a bit different from the ones in this video. I assume that has to do with it being 3.10 instead of 3.08?

If you follow his exact instructions, this works perfectly. Just installed this on my 2014 F150. Don’t change anything else but that 0 to a 4. Took me about 30 min total. The install seemed like it got stuck at one point but I just had to wait it out.
jharrell77 did you have any problem with the navipatch? Every time I try to do that step it says that the file is not supported and that’s where I’m stuck at. I have a 2015 Taurus and I’ve done every step until there and now I’m stuck haha so anything helps
EFREN PAREDES no, it worked just right for me. I would try “re-downloading” the navi patch file. Also, make sure it’s the only file your usb. Other than that, I don’t know what else it could be. Maybe try a master reset?

Mark Miller mine was stuck for a while at that same point. I waited it out but it took almost 30 minutes
Thank you for posting this! It took me 15 minutes, and that's including the master reboot time and everything. I was already updated to ver. 3.10 the rest worked like a charm. Accomplished it easily with a $17 usb obd2 scanner. You made this painless!

For the record Have a 2013 C-Max Energi. And No issues Just follow instructions just change the 4, nothing else. And everything was still there, all the hybrid info displays.
Do I turn on the heated seats before or after plugging in the Forscan?

What nav card did you use? I have a 2016 fusion but it keeps saying to Insert nav card. I insert the A7 Nav card and says it's faulted.

Elm327 showed up today. The SD map card didn't make it yet but I went ahead with the install and everything worked great. Minor differences in the coding showing on mine compared to yours but I still followed your instructions and had no problem doing it. It's now asking for the map card, so once that arrives, I'll be set. The only concern I had was the switch on the Elm327 doesn't show which setting it's on so I didn't move it. Thanks again for such a quality video. Definitely a subscriber and I couldn't be happier.
kcled01 my elm327 doesn’t either but when using forscan it knows and forces you to flip the switch anyways so mark it if you happen to get a chance so you’ll know. Glad it worked out for you.

weird. I checked forscan and it shows that I have a 4 already in the 2nd digit. But, still no navi despite enabling the navi system.

i did my update and everything is working but the radio control on the steering wheel. I did the master reset but it did not work.

Got this bad boy sorted after ordering what I needed and sweating over in case I messed up. Followed fists instruction but I was in the position where I had 3.8 already so needed the Nav App files which another post thread on here provided me with to install. Not too messy but if you do come across any various issues I'm sure you will find the answer here. Cheers fist. I'm like a giddy schoolboy with a new toy.

Great video, just unlocked my 2015 Ford Escape Titanium, I was just about to pay $800 for a new APIM but you have saved me a bunch of money.
1) did the 3.8 Sync update before I did anything, with a SanDisk 16gb flashdrive (don't buy a crappy flash drive)
2) then used Forscan to change value from 00 to 04
3) then downloaded your Navipatch on another flashdrive
4) unlocked the PNG file
5) master rest the car after
6) then popped in an A9 card I bought off eBay for $30.
7) it works!!!!
I down loaded the Sync 3.8 update zip file and when I unzipped it, the file still had a bunch of zip files. Should I unzip everything before updating ?
@@kenpifher1483 unzip everything. The update files should include 1 folder and a few extra single files. Then you take those unzipped and place them directly on to a formated USB drive.
I must be doing something wrong because once I unzip eveything, there are tons of files, excel, MP4, BMP, and ADPCM.. The original unzipped file has "SyncMyRide folder" and some .CAB files along with 13 other zip files.
looks like the total size of all files unzipped in 2.23 GB
@@kenpifher1483 there should be a syncmyride folder, a setup file and a few other files but they weren't zip files to my knowledge. I was using a windows 10 PC to do this.

I just updated my sync 2 with my touch to 3.10 and I was hoping that this would work. It didn't but I figured it out. You use Hs-can and change setting for apim from disabled to enabled

Chris. I also have a 2015 F150 XLT. I tried this method and when attempting to install the files it showed a screen that the update needed to be performed by Ford Authorized Dealer. Did you get this message?
I managed to upgrade the European Mondeo sync 2 and I upgraded the update from your link I'm very grateful. But I do not know exactly what to do with the patch but I do not know exactly what to do with the patch. I hope for some help, all the best thank you once again

I have updated to the 3.10 and tried for hours to get the Navigation to work reading and rereading the forscan forums. Downloading multiple files and it still won't work. I also keep getting an error on sync that it has run out of room or isn't compatible even though I use the same files. I don't know how everyone but me has success with this.
I have a 2013 ord Escape Titanium package and the sound went out so I too to ford garage and diagnosed that it needs new APIM, trying to find part # as I can't pay $1200 that they are asking to fix

But first have someone remove your original one and cross reference the part number.
Do you think this will work the same with my 2015 Ford Expedition that has Ford MyTouch Sync 2 without navigation (The salesman told me it had navigation, he lied!). So far, I have been unable to get the USB port and the SD card to read/work. Have no clue what the issue is there. Also I can't tell you how many Ford mechanics have told me that my vehicle cannot be modified because "there is no GPS receiver"... But I found oodles of RUclips videos showing how to do it. I like yours, it seems to be straightforward. So, should this work on my Expedition?

I noticed that in the video you used FORscan to change enable NAV first then updated the Sync 2 to version 3.8. I've read below that some people undated first to version 3.8 then change the NAV to enable. Is the order important? Is there a reason to to update Sync to 3.8 after enabling NAV,? I successfully added nav. Thanks for the video! A few notes: I missed the step to do a master reset and it initially didn't work. I found that in this thread there was a step to add another update via USB called "Nav Related files" (Step 15 here: forum.xda-developers.com/windows-mobile/general/guide-enable-navigation-cars-sync-2-0-t3484473) and it worked after that. I don't know if a master reset at the end would have had the same outcome or not. In any case, it works. Thanks for the video! Thank you Fistofpain!

I need some help with MFT/sync 2 in my '15 Escape. I did the update (V3.1), set 7D0-01-02> "0408". display shows "insert SD nav card". I then attempt to load the "nav png" file from my thumb drive, but the "system information" block does not display ANY navigation software installed. Tried it several times, even tried inserting the NAV card with no luck! The display still shows "insert SD card". Does the "nav png" need to be "unzipped" in order to load into the APIM module? I would appreciate any advice you could give. THANK YOU!

It works! Thanks. Your update has US language package only. I need European language pack. From what I’ve heard I need to update to 3.10 to get eu language pack. Do I need new patch for 3.10? Or can I install language pack only on to 3.8 somehow?

Downloaded and connected today. After getting an extended license for FORscan, the configuration tab on the program is blank. There are no modules displayed. Reading the forums, others have had the same problem. Anyone able to advise on how to fix. I'm using the same tools in this video and have the latest FORscam downloaded. Before the extended license key, I could see the module buy couldn't make changes.

I followed all the steps (installed navi app, then navi background, then did forscan unlock, then did master reset). Navigation is technically working, BUT i still have the big compass and "information" showing. If I press information, it takes me to the navigation screen. Any ideas?

@@sam-y8t Turns out the APIM froze and was replaced under warranty by Ford. They extended the program for 5 years from date of original purchase. They also updated my to Sync 3.10 and included a nav license...which wasn't original equipment hahaha!

Great video instructions FistofPain. I'm getting ready to apply this to a 2014 Focus Titanium. Do you really need the Forscan Extended license? Forscan website says not to ask for the extended license unless the program tells you that it's needed. Thanks, Bill
Bill Dunn you will need the extended license. When you go into the section to modify the coding it will tell you to get it.

I did the Nav setup with 3.8 update works fine with the A7 nav card.. Thank you very much. My question is I am trying to update the 3.8 to 3.10 and it starts the update goes thru the 6 first steps and when rebooting it comes back with cannot read usb flash. Anyone have any Ideas.

oneal9898 in my fiesta back up camera install video I changed a number. There are a few numbers ranging from 0-4 that you might have to try changing one at a time till it works. Unfortunately it would take a few attempts to get that right number but I believe 0 was for no back up camera and 4 means you have a back up camera. But I don’t remember what 1-3 do because each vehicle may have the sensors or line indicators so you may have to do it a few times. As for the other options I’m not sure which combination would enable or disable those.
So I didn't get the ford screen and it told me the software patch failed. But followed the steps and now have navigation?

i have a obd2 connector from bullydog for my programmer with a usb connector. could it be used instead of the 327 connector. What is the program to download to get it. you said that it should work with any mft 2 that has navigation which my '13 f150 lariat has. just dont know that forscan to get.
FistofPain great video got the Navigation going on my 2015 F150. One thing I couldn't get was to program for the turn by turn in the BCM scroll down to item # 172 Touch Screen. I couldn't find the #175 my Touch Screen. What am I ding wrong is it because it is a 2015. Any help would be appreciated?

i have a 2013 ford f150 with my ford sync touch and has version 3.10 already installed and i have tried your steps, it would not let me install update since the update is an older than the one is already installed and when i tried to change the code on the apim i noticed that the numbers are different than yours is that a problem or can i go ahead and change that 0 to a 4 without a problem??
