For many people this music reminds us of childhood and my great memories of my childhood remind me of my mother and father that I love dearly and whom love music and Elvis particularly. So when I was five and six I'd hang around my father holding a giant album cover of Elvis live in Hawaii for example and just it all of how cool he looked and how confident she was how much the women loved him they wanted his sweaty towel it was amazing LOL but years later I grew up and I found out that before there was that Elvis there was the sun sessions Elvis. And that's where this sound lights me up like nothing else. I also love the Kurt Russell portrayal Blue Moon of Kentucky in the Elvis movie. Just Heavenly vibrations coming from those men. the greatest thing is I've been a professional guitar player 35 years and counting because of their influence. Still shining strong on me.
I love this sound. You can plainly see (and hear) why the Scotty Moore and Johnny cash sounds were likened to the rythm of freight trains, especially when the acoustic and bass come in.
Appreciate you sharing. I'm a older but new player that just got a Epi ES-339 for Christmas that I wanna learn to play. Thanks for sharing your tricks. Sounds nice.
Thanks for posting this video Vince. I'm always up for learning new techniques (or in this case OLD techniques) I'm gonna read that new article on your website now. Cheers, Jim
yeah, that's a great sound. Love it. Also, I love the pick and finger style at the same time. Great sound, especially when the bass is added to the mix.
Thanks So very much, So grateful you take time to help us all -Im so sorry to ask you if you could play chuck berry riffs, I knew you could , but it's this ingrained over -politeness we tend to suffer from, that and cockney knees up when drunk in the Uk.
scotty Moore had an es295 that just had Gibson p90s which weren't staple pickups , and scotty Moores had alnico 3 magnets, not 5 which was a later magnet used
I didn't realize all that was going on hearing the Elvis records. Watching his right hand shows me what a unique style this is. It's like fingerpicking but instead of using his thumb for the bass notes he's using the pick.
Is that an Epiphone Emperor? I ask because I have one and I didn't know that Epi made an L5. If they do, where did you get it? I was thinking about taking my Emperor and placing a few 90s on it, but I didn't want to drill the body. Really nice sound- solid.I do most of my rockabilly recordin' with a tele- but I have an ES175 that sounds pretty fat as well
There's always the option of floating pickups. I replaced the mediocre floating pickup on my Epiphone Emperor Regent with a hand wound single coil pickup that looks like a Charlie Christian but it's voiced to sound like a P-90. Best upgrade imaginable!
Also check out play guitar with Chuck Berry its great tab and music very accurate notes and chords. You even get a nice backing track CD thrown in to work off and play along with excellent book. I learned all my chuck riffs from that book.
Excellent!!! Would you like to play in our ''50's Tribute early Elvis'' band in the U.S.!?? You sound Great1 Nice work! Mark Lee Pringle(50s' ETA) Ohio, U.S.A.
Yes, I can :-), but my videoes are not about tabs, sorry. For Chuck Berry I strongly recommend Fred Solokovs book. Mail me for a link of you can't find it.
pretty ballsy to lay claim to the scotty moore in the title of your video. one should only do that if you can back it up. and make no mistake about it......you *definitely* back it up. practically indistinguishable from the genuine article. btw, we are in the immediate aftermath of elvis week.......and george klein had scotty on for an extended interview......priceless stuff. keep up the great playing.
sounds nothing like the original.. they didn't have Reverb amps in 1954.. you have too much Echo and Reverb on that .even though there was echo on Scottys playing his sounds cleaner and fuller
I can listen to this style of playing all day long.
Best Scotty Moore sound on here... Awesome man
This the sound that built Rock & Roll...easy on the ears also...!

rockabillygone ive got an ES 175 and it sounds great!
rockabillygone It's "Custom" that means I hot rodded it myself. :-)
What are the EQ settings for the amp, and what are the tone knobs dialed to on your guitar.
I thought that Scotty, on the Sun Recordings, recorded on a standard Gibson ES-295 with P-90's..
There's a guy who can really play the guitar!
You say on your website you made some changes to the electronics. Can you detail what those were?
It's not a reverb. It's 2 different echo units with different settings. Read about it on my webpage about the project. Just Google it. Cheers!
No reverb?? That’s interesting. Can you put a link to the website page where we can read about the echo/delay settings?
Please read the article at The Rockabilly Guitar Page
Closest I've seen to Scotty Moore!! Good job !
got myself a Epiphone ES295 and running through a Boss DD3 into a Fender hot-rod deluxe III :)
@Bloozmann Thanks!
Hi Vince what make and model of foot pedal did you use on this Scotty Moore demo?
good sound. please setting delay? which delay are you using?
thank. grazie.
Fred Solokov has the bast tabs IMO. They've got it on Amazon.
cool pickin Vince!! whats a good amp setting guide to get a Rockabilly sound? I own a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe 111 :)
hi there my name is james can you show me how to play I beg of you by elvis Presley the one he did in 1958 ,I hope you can help me. thanks james
Move over all you posturing speed kings. This is the REAL sound of ROCK!
correction.....came out in the late 1930's (not 1940's)
what are the 2 different echo units you use. I cant find them on your page and what are the setting for them
Also check out play guitar with Chuck Berry its great tab and music very accurate notes and chords. You even get a nice backing track CD thrown in to work off and play along with excellent book. I learned all my chuck riffs from that book.
The pickups cost more than the guitar?

1;00 rollin an tumblin...?
how do you get your amp to sound like this
mike swierkowski It's not the amp that does it. It's very clean and just a little distorted.
Sounding great Vince

Awesome :) and when the acoustic came in sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet
dave

Still the best copy of the great Scotty Moore

Ha, pinched this as my ringtone!!!!
Only elvis Voice is missing
LOOKS LIKE YOUR JUST USING TWO PICKING PATTERNS?
Yeah Man, U got it, I'll take that any day over a shredder lol

50s classic crust dust
best mystery train i have ever heard. brian setser can go piss in the wind. are you scotty moores brother ?
No doubt you're a rockabilly!
That can hardly be true seeing that he traded the 295 in for the L-5 on the 7/7/55. Pls.at least check his website before posting more "facts".
sounds nothing like the original.. they didn't have Reverb amps in 1954.. you have too much Echo and Reverb on that .even though there was echo on Scottys playing his sounds cleaner and fuller
Amazingly close to the Scotty sound! But that intonation (*cringe*)
Strings out of tune but a nice sound
Too much high end
your very good but not precise
