Thanks for watching! Would you try the sushi?

i know how funky the ramen is you drink everyday without comment. I'd consider eating something you call "funky" an ultimate challenge for a western tongue.

Probably a food call (skipping the sushi this time 😅). Thanks for watching and see you in Kyoto!

I'd try the sushi--all the best foods are fermented anyway--beer, wine, cheese, kimchi, bread, sausage, coffee, chocolate, vanilla--I could go on. On the other hand, there are things like surstromming, harkarl, and others that aren't so great.

Words of wisdom! Although you might put narezushi in the same camp as surstromming or harkarl, given the smell 😅)

Duly noted: Do not stinkbomb yourself with sushi before the ramen crawl!

The fish to rice ratio for the narezushi was pretty indicative of the flavour strength haha! Thank you for showing us the experience! Btw I had a similar experience with trying to get rid of durian smell off my hands so can empathise! The wakayama ramen chapter has been pretty fascinating so far, thanks Frank!

Haha, this is true (fish to rice ratio). Oh boy, I know what you mean about durian. Get that in a room with narezushi and it's biological warfare...
Thanks for watching! Glad you enjoyed the Wakayama bit of the series.

@@5AMRamen sadly I missed my chance. If humanity doesn't destroy itself, I'll be back. I love Tokyo far too much!

5h ayyy, sorry I didn't comment on the last video bit busy with life lol
Also, nu-uh I'm bad with funky food, so I won't dare to try it, but, the last ramen I would definitely try, firm thin noodles is my favorites afterall

I find that washing my hands with stainless steel spoon - rubbing my hand on the smooth metal surface can miraculously remove bad smells, including raw garlic, onions and fish. Give it a try.

Wish I knew this when I went! Thankfully the smell went away the next day (or was it the next week? 😅)

Well if you have garlic smell on your hands you can rub them on something made of stainless steel and it will make the garlic funk stay on the stainless steel . Not sure if would work with that stinky stuff oof 🤣

I have noticed that a lot of stores around the world sell these stainless steel discs that people keep in their kitchens to remove smells from their hands. They can look like a round bar of soap. I keep thinking I will grab one but forget. I can’t say anything about how they work but can only say that a lot of people swear by them. It’s the kind of thing you could toss in a little side pocket of your backpack. Do some research but if the hype is real, it would be worth carrying one around.

If I'm eating narezushi or something similarly stinky, I might have to invest in one of those! Thanks for the heads up 😊
