Hi Ken, While Hilton membership might seem more appealing than Marriott, IHG membership (Holiday Inn chain) stands out as a better choice in Asia. It offers superior benefits, faster point accumulation, and a broader presence, including locations in places like Kashi.

2014 I and my wife went to Kashgar …. We took 36 hours green hard sleeper train from Xian to Urumqi …. Immediately after arriving we bought 2 tickets green hard sleeper K train to Kashgar 18 hours journey…
We stayed at Old Town Youth Hostel… at that time it is a little bit hard to find hotel for foreigners…
We also went to Tushkurgan … that time travelers must apply permits at Police stations…
Very beautiful lake .. Karakoram mountains…. Freezing cold….
Don’t forget to got to Biggest Bazaar and Animal Market in Kashgar … next level experience..
    Stay safe and stay happy

You were so brave. Ten years ago, Kashgar was at its most dangerous time, and the peace we have now hasn't come easily.

  •  6 часов назад +17

Hi Ken, welcome back to Xinjiang. Did you know that there were several serious terrorist attacks in Kashgar ten years ago? That's why the peace we have now is worth cherishing. Thank you for showing the real Xinjiang to the world. In China, you really don't have to worry about taxi drivers running off with your suitcase. That young Uyghur man mimicking cows and sheep was really adorable. Have a great trip!

I visited Kashgar in August this year, and it was truly beautiful. I highly recommend you take a car to Taxkorgan (maybe you're already on the road, haha). The entire journey is incredibly scenic. There were four of us, and the car hire cost was 2700 RMB for 3 days, just for reference. The driver will help plan your route and schedule, providing full-day pick-up and drop-off services. If you need a driver, I can recommend the one I used. Below is my itinerary in Kashgar, I hope it helps. Feel free to ask if you have any questions.
    **Kashgar to Taxkorgan Route**
→ ☆☆ **Day 1**: Kashgar - North Shore of White Sand Lake - Muti Volcano Crater - White Sand Lake Viewing Platform - Tahman Wetlands: Stay in Taxkorgan.
→ ☆☆ **Day 2**: Taxkorgan - Wakhan Corridor - Panlong Ancient Road - Bandir Blue Lake - Golden Grassland (Stone Fort): Stay in Taxkorgan.
→ ☆☆ **Day 3**: Taxkorgan - Tree Hole Road - Muztagh Glacier Park - Karakul Lake - Kashgar: Stay in Kashgar.

It does take 100 depending on the time of the day. If it’s late at night, it got more pricey

Those chairs are massage chairs, they supposed to pay to massage but people would just use it as normal seats. When i was in Nanchang, i want to pay to use it but people were sitting in all of them.

Actually there’s no need to keep taxi’s gate open when take belongings in China. You don’t need to worry that situation. That’s impossible in China. China really safe in this field
