This video was filmed a few years ago and misplaced for awhile during all the moving around, just found it, thought you guys might like to see what happens behind the ramen curtain at one of my favorite ramen chains. Ichiran vs. Ippudo which do you prefer???
I really love the idea of not having to see my server's face, sitting in a cubicle style totally private so I can slurp and not have to worry about anyone watching me.
@Luis T. no its not superior, but if a japanese person walks into a restaurant in japan, it would be a little odd to hear the waiter greeting you in english
@Luis T. dude this is a famous Japanese chain and most people would've been to the ones IN JAPAN where they greet you in JAPANESE, so it just sounded foreign hearing it for the first time in English. I'm not saying one is better or worse than the other , just that it was unexpected. (Weird doesn't mean bad) 🥱🥱🥱 I think you're trying way too hard to be offended. Lighten up you might actually enjoy life Karen

I’m from Toronto, I’ve flew to NewYork to this exact location because I was craving Ichiran so much after a trip in Japan. We now have a new ramen shop called Ikkousha Ramen, it is very similar to Ichiran! Have a try next time you visit Toronto!
Ikkousha Ramen is absolutely delicious as well. When I was in Fukuoka, Japan, there was an Ikkousha Ramen place 2 blocks from the hotel we stayed at. We were always there. I craved for one late at night and was the last customer to leave. The best thing was, when I finally left, all the servers lined up near the door and bowed while saying their thank you. Unbelievable eating experience for me.
It is actually crazy to me that their aim to get the food out is 15 seconds. I worked at Red Lobster and the standard during non peak hours is 7 minutes for appetizers and 12 minutes for entrees. Granted ramen is much easier assembled but that is ridiculously fast.
I passed by that very same Ichiran ramen shop whenever I was heading to or from school! I've always wanted to eat there, but never had the time due to commute! It's so nice to see what the restaurant is like from the inside!
I've never seen a restaurant like this before! Such a interesting way to eat ramen! Thanks so much for sharing Mike! Love all your videos! Got my hubby hooked on them too!😁

Nice, another ramen video! Mike, you've got to try this ramen restaurant called Madai Ramen Mengyo in Tokyo. They serve a delicious ramen with a sea bream-based broth. Just a short walk from Kinshicho Station!
I always wanted to eat here! Wish we had a good ramen place here in Melbourne, Florida. I miss this amazing place in Tempe, Arizona I went to for fresh made ramen. They only made a limited number of them on Saturday mornings you had to wait in line and get a number. It was so worth it.
15seconds!!! I'm surprised you didn't ask if she was crazy. All in all, the gentle but quick pace, is amazing. They really take pride in the whole experience. 🙏 💪👍✌️💯
That was Ichirans redemption arc, with the soft boiled egg. xD So glad we got to see the hard work they put into serving the ramen and making sure everything is perfect.
I like this video, an innovative way of serving clients while ensuring privacy. Mickey, i want to see more of you behind the scenes. 🍜🍜🍜. I give a 10 out of 10. 👍
YEEEESSSS!! ive been so curious for so long!!! man. i hate watching ppl eat. sooo how is it that i cant get enough of this dude lol. i literaly get excited when he take a bit lmao
Looks absolutely incredible!! The best Ramen House we have in Winnipeg is Cho-Ichi Ramen on Pembina, but it doesn’t have this cool peculiarly Japanese theme with the individual kiosks. Would love to try this! 🌶 🧄 🐖 🍜
Hi Curt san! Being a Japanese national, i can tell you that this is something very specific to Ichiran. I find it very peculiar too, here in Japan. It shocked me when I first went to a nearby Ichiran.
I was on a mike chen binge the other day and stumbled upon the hot oil one and requested that in the near future maybe make another updated video on it but this is just as awsome.
15 second turn around? how is that even possible?! even with star trek replicators making instant food that's not possible. its a 15 second walk let alone cooking time.
I work at ichiran well used to work there before pandemic. And man you would be surprised but what they mean is from the second the noodles hit the bowl it has to be out within 15 seconds and usually 2 -3 mins from order being taken

i had this in japan and it was probably the best ramen i've ever eaten. I went with a group of friends and the best part is when you get your ramen, everyone is just eating in silence.
This video was filmed a few years ago and misplaced for awhile during all the moving around, just found it, thought you guys might like to see what happens behind the ramen curtain at one of my favorite ramen chains. Ichiran vs. Ippudo which do you prefer???
I would probably love both equally ㅠㅠ
You’ve gotta pin this - for the sake of salty people like me
ichiran , 100% 😂 went there 2 days in a row
I went to 1 in NY and 1 in Tokyo but thought they tasted really different. Wonder which is the best branch out of them all.
Ya' employee she's pretty looking & sounds great.
Mike loves his ramen so much he's learning the craft
Rice
Because he will be opening a noodle shop that's why.
I mean he’s opening a ramen place soooo
Well, ramen is awesome!
I'm curios what would taste(bc i never had it but i would try)(of a perspective of someone that never had ramen amd mainly ichiran ramen)
I really love the idea of not having to see my server's face, sitting in a cubicle style totally private so I can slurp and not have to worry about anyone watching me.

Very true
Wow.. She the best person ever. Her personality omg soo cute.
Hell nah you can tell she’s a mean ass manager 😂
I mean she could be acting nice just for the camera
I could be wrong
Since this was filmed some years ago, Mike has to go back and see if she still works there. Or if she has moved on:)
Bro to me it was no good sorry
Eh
Always wondered what the person behind the counter saw at ichiran. Sounds so weird hearing them do the welcome in English instead of Japanese
I think this is the one in New York

A ramen* baby
I’m glad you are letting people know about the vinegar. It really elevates the ramen! 🍜
Ichiran is soo good. The one in Shinagawa is open 24 hours. Love this place.
Never have I heard of a customer WORKING there! So cool😊
I'm so glad that they kept the setup and experience exactly the same as in Japan, and not Americanize it too much...
The nationality and homesick cures
They Americanized the Japanese they speak though lol it's awful.
This was pre-pandemic or as I call it, "The Time Before."
Ironically this place has the perfect setup for a restaurant these days. Barriers between both your server and the customers 😂
@@gemstone108 yes lmao

When he wore the waist apron around his neck lmaooo 🤪
"Look behind the scenes" but he actually be like Plankton, trying to steal the recipe for his own ramen restaurant
Omg you’re right
wait, seriously?
I’m actually jealous. Those lucky people just had the one and only Mike Chen serve them ramen! It’s a foodie dream come true!
I feel like Ichiran invited Mike back to the Brooklyn location solely to tell the audience that the egg is improved since he trashed it last time.
Yes, the improved egg now ist better but still not as sexy as the one in Japan.
The egg is still terrible! It's not soft boiled as advertised and isn't marinated
ramen loves mikey so much, it’s learning his craft.
Why Mike introducing himself so passionately🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
6:05 I know its a formality but man its really funny to me when you thank someone for waiting 15 seconds for their food.
You sir are living the dream right now. I wish I could work in a kitchen like you just did!!
Yo im so happy you got to eat there again! You seem to love that place so much!!
Way to go Mike, looks like you’re moving up in the ramen world. Love your program and travels. Yes vinegar is a must in the ramen awesome!

My favourite thing about eating at ichiran is how they bow to you before closing the curtain, after giving you your ramen bowl 😁
its like they’re saying “thank you for your order, i will be closing the curtains now”
