@MikeyWand did you bring the speed down on your DIY? If not, try that. You can also go to the explore and pick user settings of their DIY and apply them to yours. When I say DIY I mean actually making one in Advanced settings and slowing the speed down
I agree as well. It took me about 2 years to figure 80% of the app and still learning something new everyday. I’m willing to help you get to where you need if you let me. If not I completely understand
Great instructional video of the app. Maybe you have already done this, but it would be nice to show the app (like you are in this video) with the lights on the other half of the video, to show us what the lights are doing while you program it, and to show what some of these options actually do. This is the best video I could find on how to use the app. Thanks!
This is the worst app interface I’ve ever seen. It clearly has a lot of customization but nobody can work the menu without studying it for several hours. Thanks for the video, this helped a lot
Yes it definitely can be a headache no doubt about that. There are still some areas within the app I need to study some more. I’ll continue to put more short videos on the app when I get around to it
Everyone saying this is the worst app you’ve ever used name a single better user interface for LED control. You won’t find it. I have been professionally installing colored lights for the last five years there is no contender even though it’s not perfect. Maybe Hue lights, but at about four times the cost I don’t know if it’s worth it.
Thanks for watching. Yes it sure is, they did a very good job cramming everything in this one app lol. Even I had to double take when making this video. Thank you for your comment 😁
Thank you for your responses on the previous video. I got my lights up no problem once I knew I could use the 2 12’ extensions together to jump 24’ gap.
I just purchased the outdoor pro lights and I am learning how to use the app. You show at 5:06 in the video, how to assign individual light colors using the advanced settings. When I try that and select a color it instantly applies the default clockwise effect. How do you assign individual lights solid colors without an effect being applied? Thank you for the video it is very informative!
Hi. Sorry for the late response. I was out doing a small Govee rescue. Thank you for your patience. Yes what you are implying is that you trying to make solid colors without them moving. All you need to do is bring down your speed and the lights will not move anymore. Then you can save it using the green camera for screenshot
Hello JB, I have enjoyed your videos and will be installing these Govee Perm Lights pro version on my house this weekend. So for the 100' kit, the lights will extend around each side of my house for about 16 feet or about 10 lights per side. My question is can I turn off those lights so they do not run with my Christmas theme? I would like to use them for accent lighting the rest of the year but for the Christmas display, I only want the front of the house lights to operate. I am also in Round Rock, TX BTW. Also, can music be synced with the music from my phone or will it only sync with the microphone? Thanks in advance for your help!
Hi and thank you for your support by watching our content. If you create a custom diy then yes you can turn those off. Use the white box with a red slash to turn them off. You can save them by using the green snapshot button. If you use a govee preset scene you can not edit them, that is what it is unfortunately. You can use your phone music to react with your lights or use the music sync box that you can add 10 devices to work with the box. As far as the accent light goes, make sure to turn off background color to off(white box with red slash) so as you turn them off, the purple tint doesn’t stay. Create a new snapshot for your accent lighting
🙂🙂🙂This is such a great video!!! Can I ask .. I have the 100' Pro outdoor lights. I want to have one scene (a festival scene) go on from 5pm-1:00am and then a different scene (just white lights over my front door) go from 1:05 am-7:00 am.. how can I set the timer to do that?
Hello, thanks for visiting the channel. In the app hit color button. This can be done in segmented for groups of 4 or individually work each light in advance settings. To turn off lights it’s the white box with a red slash across it.. this cannot be done in the preset modes. Hope this helps
Hi, great video. Can I use the "same model group" option for 150-ft and 50-ft outdoor lights (separate controllers)? Or do they have to be same size to use that option?
Yes you can group them in same-model. Doing so will allow you to control everything from the group with Govee scenes and user scenes. Stationary solid colours should be done in each individual device as group solids does not respond well to
Can you physically cutout four lights out of a middle strand? It works best for me for installation. Will it still work in succession? Thanks ! Great video !
On the Govee pros, I have not had a problem doing this, as for the non pros they need to all be in sequence with each other as they are dependent on each other
Desalt makes a cordless heat gun that works well when paired with their 60V FlexVolt batteries. I used this while installing my GOVEE PRO kit. Made the job much simpler. Ive always headed any 3M double sided tape prior to installation on any item.
When you set the basic timer can you choose what you want your light to be? When I pick a scene, it just goes back to a basic color the next day, it doesn't keep what I want.
It almost seems like you have set an automation timer and it’s over riding the regular timer. Delete any automated timers that you have so it can work properly. Then it should work afterwards
I just started to get network abnormalities issues... not sure why? My internet if fine and it all connects, but I can't do anything from the DIY. Or change any of my automation
What kind of wire did you use to splice your wires together? Ie: 7 lights, long wire spliced and 5 lights. I bought 20AWG wire off of Amazon and it didn’t work. Would you mind sending some links of recommended products ? Thanks so much! 😊
Hi I saw you used the 150ft system but I’m looking to purchase the 100 feet outdoor light. Will the 2 -12 foot extension work in two different areas with the 100ft system? Also how can I purchase an extra one? I know only 1 comes in the box thank you!
Great video but can I make 4 different sets work together? I've got spots, strings, ground lights and a bulb. I can make them all the same color, but cant figure out how to make them flash or do a pattern. Thank you!
Hi, thanks for watching. Yes it can be done. You can group them in same-model group. Put the controllers for the front lights near the front and the ones for the back in the back. I say this because there are connectivity issues currently with iPhones and their Bluetooth. You can put patterns on your design in advanced settings
Great Video! I love that you are answering peoples questions. Your tutorials are really well done. I'd like to see one done on Do's and Don't of Cutting and Splicing.
can you have the permanent outdoor light, curtain and spot in same group and sync them? or I need the outdoor box? Can I connect via the app remotely outside my home network?
I’m installing 2 150’ elite sets, do they have to mount directional? Meaning do they have to be hung in the same Direction from the power side of the Sets, or will they link up and “chase” in the correct way? Thanks
I have 18 GOVEE outdoor lights, below are the list of lights. How can I have them all synced together. I would like them all to react to music in synchronized manner 6 - curtain lights 4 - Christmas string lights 2 - permanent LED 2 - outdoor LED strip light Wifi 2 - Rope lights 2 - 96ft string lights
How many lights can i add to one factory string of lights? For example, i had to cut 6 lights off because of a huge gap (i know i didnt stick to the 4 light rule). Can I add all 6 to my last full string or is that too many extra lights on one factory string? If not, how and where do you suggest I reintegrate those 6 lights.
Hit there and thanks for watching. On the first generation lights, there are 12 lights. If you want to attach lights in a way where you have cut off the factory connections and want to solder them together, then it needs to be a full strand and it needs to be at the 6 beginning of a strand and not attaching strands that have been cut halfway into the new line. On the pros, you can do this anywhere within the line
Hello again, is there a way to apply workshop creations to Same-Model Group Control? I figured out how to do it separately but they don't work together seamlessly.. Thanks again..
Hi there. Not a problem. Go to the users name of the video and press save. Then go to automation scheduling and set up when you would like them to come on only. Then apply the DIY user name on each device to schedule it to come on
Great video! I can’t figure out how to turn off effects when in the advanced mode. Do you have to have effects? Can’t the lights just be steady on? I can do it in basic mode but not advanced.
If you break their rules and splice 2 sets together will it cause issues with the scene and programming because it won’t know it has more lights connected to 1 controller? Hope the question makes sense!
Thank you for your question. Someone ask this same question on my last Govee video and the answer went something like this. Govee has not made a t-split separate the line and they had said that board was made to go forward and backwards. Not saying it’s true cause maybe that was just said so we don’t do it. Another I mentioned that it was a risky and expensive experiment but I’m willing to try if I have any extra accessories
@@jbsdiytv thanks for the quick response. I have a follow up question: 1. I heard you say to get 2 strands to work (group) together, they need to be the same model #. So I can buy 2 seme model and cut to length? Thanks for all the videos on these!!
@lelandhitchcock not a problem. Any of the strands from any of the kits will work on any model. Just have to stay within the lengths. 50ft equals 3 strands and that’s it. 100ft equals 6 strands and you can add 3more strands to it, nothing more. The 150ft is 9 strands and that’s it. If you cut a strand, that is still considered a segment of a full strand and that must be applied in the settings as a full strand
I appreciate your videos so much, thank you! I ordered the outdoor curtain lights and I am having the Govee Pro outdoors installed in 2 weeks. I saw how you created a group for 2 individual runs of lights, will I be able to sync both of these and run them to music? Thank you again.
Thanks for watching. Yes you can do this in advance settings to control each individual light. Use the red slash box with a white background to turn off lights. Bring, your speed all the way down and bring the relative background brightness to 80%
Thanks as always. Lots of info here. How do I save a DIY for permanent lights? I have three sets of 100 feet connected. I see how to create and that works. How do I save these to my own DYI section? Thanks man *Same model group control Wish I could attach a pic here for you.
Yes all devices should be same-model group but you have to individually save your screenshots in each and place them in a automated schedule to run in sync
Once saved under the individual device I switch to automation. Correct? Under automation I can't fumind where the saved ones are. In fact, I don't see them anywhere...... How do I connect them and run the automated schedule?
Snapshots are the same when you create them in finger sketch and DIY finger sketch. Finger sketch tab does not have the same capabilities like DIY finger sketch does. Snapshots will not appear next to your DIYs. Creating a finger sketch DIY you’ll have the ability to post it to your Govee app profile and share it with others. You’ll have the ability to duplicate your scenes, edit them again, and organize them by setting them in groups
Thanks for a great video. I finished putting up my lights this weekend and I am very impressed so far. Your videos helped me a lot. I have one question pertaining to music. If I am using Spotify, do I just play something on a phone that is running the Govee app and spotify and the lights will sync or do i need to purchase their Sync Box. Thanks.
There are two ways to do this. If your mic on the controller is near, then you can use a stereo near by. The other way is just use you phones music. Go to the app, go to music sync from phone and then play your music that you want and connect to a Bluetooth speaker outside
Very useful video, but I'm curious about something because I can't find workshop creation (14m15sec) in my application, but I have an H619C tape, is it possible that this is the problem?
Hi there. Set a timer in the Home Screen for on and off. Then go to automation and set only an on timer time point and add action to a selected diy, scene or user scenes
@@jbsdiytv Thanks, I was also messing around with it and found that if you go to the >workshop creations >favorite the ones you like, then> go into the Same-Model Group that I created> DIY and the + sign you'll see the workshop creations you saved and just apply it there.. Freaking AWESOME!!
Nice video. Question on grouping. I have 2 100 foot strings and 1 50 foot string. By themselves I can use wifi but once they are grouped then it says only Bluetooth can be used. Am I doing something wrong? I called Govee support and was informed that currently this is a limitation on their side. Grouped lights can only be controlled via Bluetooth.
Yes sir, grouping in the same model option is the only way at the moment is what I found out about Govee. If you have an iPhone, they said there is a connectivity issue currently with Bluetooth on iPhones. They mentioned they will fix it but I don’t know when that is. The option now is to set a timer on a scene you like. Go to automation and set it everyday and the time. Or you can set a DIY and do clockwise/counterclockwise effect
Same here… i noticed i could only control the lights on a bluetooth connection only on Group synchronizing. I thought i could control them through wifi. I installed my controllers on the ceiling at the back side of the house. I was trying to set up the lights for customization while standing infront of the house but it was saying i was out of bluetooth range. So i had to walk back and forth just check if i turned on right specific light i wanted to turn on. Is there gonna be a fix for this? Thanks
Great video! Nice explanation. Can you explain.. "Batch Operation" in the DIY section? I am looking to create several scenes and make them one so they cycle together.. is this possible? Thanks for your expertise..
I usually place them in automation and set specific times to have them come on. Each one will play after that one is done. I’m going to look for this batch operation you speak of and try it out myself cause I haven’t used that one. Like I’ve mentioned before, I learn something new everyday. Thanks
Thanks for the info. I am learning too. So, we'll learn together. I was assuming that under batch operation, the created segments would play back to back endlessly until turned off. I could be wrong. Question, when in animation, do i set all of them to come on, or just the one and all will cycle over and over? I have created 3 segments that I want to run bacb to back then recycle.
Ok.. the batch operation is for deleting several scenes you no longer want in your diy. Also i can't seem to get automation timer set up correctly. It doesn't come on at the set time. The only timer I can get to work is off the main menu, under device.. timer.. It will run only one of my scenes between the set times. Any ideas?
Sorry must of missed this message. You can create your DIY then place them in automation schedules and pick certain times you want it to turn to a different diy
I have Govee pro 200ft and elite 100ft. I grouped them and it works fine but dream view only works on elite. I’m not able to create scenes for both however it shows 2, only elite is working.
I have 3 sets of the 200' Pros. Can you splice the 4' and 12' extensions if necessary? Also, will I be able to sync all 3 controllers. I have 2 at one end of the house and 1 at the other. Thanks in advance.
Yes you can sync the devices in same-model group. There will be some things you’ll have to do individually in automation scheduling to set how your everyday scenes will look like. Can you use and example to what you mean by splicing the extensions
That’s a bologna sandwich lol. Yes you can cut them to size. Just make sure to leave that tiny box on it. Use waterproofing heat shrink solder sleeves not crimped connections to bring them back together
There's a tiny box at both ends so I think I'll just leave those alone and hide the extra line somewhere. Thanks for the responses. Really helping my job right now. Almost done!@@jbsdiytv
hi thank you! this really helped me. the problem i have now is that the lights automatically turn off after 5 mins then i have to retstart. i noticed that when you use 2 light strips blue tooth inly recognizes 1. i have the xmas tree lights. can you help me troubleshoot why the lights shut off?
Hi and thanks for watching. Your welcome. That means you are setting offs in your schedules. Only set on for each device. You should have your primary timers set for on and off which is located once you hit the device name then timers is in the Home Screen. Also, delete any schedules you don’t need so the app isn’t confused to what to use. As for the Bluetooth goes, have you grouped the devices in same-model group so it recognizes both at the same time
Thank you for watching. Yes sir, great stuff. If I find something with in the app that someone can benefit from then I I’ll use it. Every time I came across something new, I was like “wow, I didn’t know that” and had to create content on it. Thanks for for putting it out there for everyone to use.🙏👊
I live in Florida with a simple install of 250 feet or so it’s like going around the brim of a hat. I’m going all the way around the house so I’ll need 2 kits. I’m starting from and outlet behind my house and going both ways to meet in the middle. Will I have a problem getting them to work sequence if I do this or does the app take care out it during setup? I see through you video how to group more than one controller which I will have to do ,but i just wanted to know if it’s is possible to meet in the middle. Thanks
If you install your two separate systems working them to the middle like that it won’t be a problem when you make your own DIY’s because you can change them to clockwise to counterclockwise so it will fix itself then. Now in the Govee presets you can’t change directions only speeds for some presets. Accent spot lighting won’t affect anything. If possible, always try and keep the install in one direction so they all stream the same. Pro lights are the way to go. Hope this answers your question
Some scenes will be hard to tell but you’ll notice it in some of the slower ones. You’ll see a break in where it starts. So if it’s in the side of the house. Both sides and back will be different to the front. Good dry run would be best at night. Lay like 3 strands going one way and 3 the other way at point A. Then connect the devices there at point A and then select a scene for each device in the app. See their directions go away from each other. Then group them in the app and then set the same scene again while they are grouped and you’ll see the stream do the same as before. Grouping has them respond as one but not their direction. Grouping helps to picking scenes without going to each device every time. Good luck
Thank you I’m going to do just that. I figured if I experiment before I put them up I’ll know better. As for the pro version I would have, but I already bought these around Christmas time and still haven’t put them up. I’m already vested in these. Again thanks for the help.
@@timothyreyer4753 something I would like to add when it comes to the non pro lights. The non-pro lights, it uses three colors to make white. So if you install from left to right, then you will cast a light of green tint and right to left., you install you cast a purple tint. @HandyDadTV has clarified this on his video so you would need to take that inconsideration on how you would install your lights. Take a look at the video below. 👇 ruclips.net/video/hp0-Meclzv0/видео.htmlsi=uBpo4afWppRfQ_PT time stamp about nine :27
Once my first 150' end do I have to start with the beginning of next strand or can I start with end. Trying to plug in another outlet by the other beginning.
If you want your scenes to all chase the same way in one direction, install the second kit at the end of the last strand. If you go from same outlet in the opposite direction, you’ll notice the break in your system. You can create your own scenes to change clockwise and counter clockwise but will not be able to do that with the Govee preset scenes
Can you automate switching from scene to snapshot or can that only be done manually? For example, I would like the Christmas light scene to run from sunset to 11pm. At 11pm I would like it to switch to my DIY snapshot that is just house accent lighting. How about automate switching through scenes, so after a determined amount of time it'll switch to another Christmas scene that you've pre-selected.
Yes you can do that in automation. You can set multiple schedules for certain scenes and for custom screenshots. It will ask you in each one the on and off times/days and time frame. Just set the on for them
@proedgebiker yes I have noticed that people have been mentioning this. The only way to have a work around this is tell your Alexa/Google to turn your outdoor lights on from your phone where ever you are located then the wifi gets picked up because they are on now. You can also set up schedules for certain scenes and turn them on/off whenever you want to use them
Do you have to be connected via Bluetooth to use the same group mode? My controller are in different parts of the house so I can’t connect to both devices at once. Also is there a way to set the two different lights in order?
When we do installs, we keep the controllers up front for front lights and back controller with the back. Also, Bluetooth and WiFi work the best if there is one controller instead of two
@@jbsdiytv oh I see. Is it possible to have 300 feet of light with one controller? If I put the extension module after the 5 th string I can add the remainder to make 300 feet. I have installed both the 100 and 200 foot kits right now with two separate controllers
Thank you for the video! But the one thing I needed help with you didn't cover. Groups. You only covered basic. I have two light sets that I want to sync. I am trying to use the "Same-model group control". So both sets are connected via wifi. I can control them both from the app. But when I add them to the group, they won't connect via wifi so I can't control them with the group. This makes absolutely no sense because they are obviously connected. Now if I create a basic group like you did, they connect no problem but the basic groups have no programs. Any idea why I'm having this issue? If I walk up to each one, they will connect via bluetooth but that sure won't help me because they are on different parts of the property. I tried Govee support but they I guess don't understand what I'm trying to tell them. EDIT: I went back and see that you did talk about the same model group. Watched you add your light sets and yours connected immediately. But I see below the icons it says they can only be controlled via Bluetooth? So your controllers have to be close enough that the two of them and your phone can connect via bluetooth?
Great video! One thing i cannot figure out though is when i am in segement mode, how can I switch strands? What i mean specifically, the mode where you did the candy cane theme. I can only edit the last 3 strands in my run. I have 8 out of 9 strands used in the 150' kit. Hopefully that makes sense what I am asking. Thanks in advance.
Sounds like you need to do a factory reset on your controller. Hold down for 6 seconds till you see a white flash. Then check device settings if you have all the correct segments(strand)
@@jbsdiytv Thank you. I will try that. Might be a bit because it's way up high and I will need someone to spot me on the ladder. So just to be clear, this could be the case even though all my strands work and my device shows I have 8 strands when I check in the settings? Just want to make sure before I go up there.
Hi JB, thanks for the videos. I have two 100' units that I created a group for. Is there a way to sync that I can do a chase diy that will go from one to the other? Thanks
I want a section of the lights to do something different from another part. Is there anyway i can make different sections of lights? Not just colors, but effects too.
Hi and thanks for watching. The effects run through the whole system when creating a DIY or using user diys. The only thing you can do is individually shut them off or place a different color but the effects take over your strands
@corneredconnection oh yeah that will be a game changer for sure. You can always suggest it to Govee support but they’ll tell you thank you and they are always looking to improve their product(but it won’t be ready anytime soon)😂
Is it possible to set up and how can it be done with selecting the 2 different Xmas light patterns with in the app and to have each run for say for 30 munites or 1 hour and then revert to the next light pattern for 30 min to 1 hour and then go back to the first light pattern for then an other 30 min to 1 hour
@@jbsdiytv thanks will try it out tomorrow as i just recently installed and need final touch ups in installing power plug closer to start line of the lights run and will try to do test set up with automation
I made a spotlight DIY. , once it’s saved , how am I able to go back into it and change some settings? How can I updates DIY I ALREADY made and saved ?
No, Would you would need to do is set an automation with your scene or DIY because if you have group devices and you set a basic timer, it will only work for one of the devices. It can be done, but you would need to individually set a timer for each device, which automation would be better because it will ask you to add a time point and add action and that would be your your scene or DIY. Basic group is for different model types and same model group is for same type of outdoor lights like pros and non pros.
my current hubspace smart plug is unable to do what i need and hoping the govee smart plug can. I want to reboot my router once a week, I know smart plugs will maintain memory so they will be able to turn back on according to schdule even as the router is temporarily off. The problem: my hubspace plug will only allow one event a day....and it must ne TURN ON first..than a TURN OFF second. It wont let me than schedule an addittional turn on. The TURN ON must be paired with a TURN OFF. IT wont let me schedule a TURN OFF first..THAN a TURN ON..inthat order. Can govee smart plug have daily independent times?
Under my color tab theres only segmented. Not advanced. Theres this thing called finger sketch but it forces me to choose an effect. And work around to control individual diodes color?
I recently purchased an RGBIC LED light strip (16.4ft) and noticed that the last 30 lights on the strip don't glow for the "Optimistic" scene (almost like the scene was designed for a shorter strip even though this was the shortest one available). It's the only scene where this happens and I'm curious to know whether this is a problem on my end or the app's end. Could you boot up the app and tell me whether you experience issues with this scene? Thanks.
Try this because you can’t rule this out. Go to that area on the strip and make sure the solder connections on the light are making contact by jimmying it where they eventually will make contact. It could be a faulty section. Let me know if you see them light up by flickering
@@jbsdiytv First of all, thanks for the quick response! Doing what you said causes this segment of lights to emit the same faint blue/green light that all the other lights emit when they're off, indicating they're making contact. Also I just want to clarify that this segment has no trouble displaying the colors used by the "Optimistic" scene when applied in a DIY, which honestly makes me think the scene itself is glitched (again, literally every other scene works fine) but I need someone else with the app to check.
@RawkHawk2010 yes sir not a problem. I do know this effect happens when other users apply other users scenes with different model types to their outdoor lights and some have 6 strands vs 12 strands. This was my best bet on this cause I had a similar issue like this but my connections were bad and I fixed them. Need to do a video on the strip lights since I get asked about the Govee strip lights as well
Thanks for watching. Some of the videos are up to date with the app but some look different because they are before the updates. Let me know if you have an questions
Take a look at the short I created. Hit the ⭐️ and then set it on a schedule Govee App- How to set scenes in your schedules @GOVEE #fyp #howto #diy #govee ruclips.net/user/shortswG3RUcA0TXM?feature=share
Yes it can be done in same model group. You just have to install the strands, controllers in the same direction because the presets won’t go opposite from each just the advance custom settings
Actually if you need to end with less than 4 you can but you need to start with 4, reset the strand with the 4 then you can cut them down to less, I have done this as I needed 2 lights to finish a run.
Hi how can I set 2 different colors for 2 different time time set, like by example 18:00 to 21:00 rainbow and 4:00 to 5:00 winter???? Cause on the time part I don’t see nothing to pick colors scene,???
My friend how can I turn off individual lights? I have 6 lights that go up the side of the roof as it was not a spot for an extension and I need to turn them off.
In advance settings, use the white box with a red slash on it. If you’re trying to turn them for the Gove presets, then you can’t. Tape them with black electrical tape
I just bought a pack of the 4 light bulbs from Govee. And was able to set them up through the app the issue is I want someone else to access the lights on their phone . Do you have to have 2 separate accounts for the bulbs ? We were able to add them on both phones but would quit working and disappear??
Has anyone ran into light segments being out of order? I went to program accent lighting for night time and my segments arent in order for instance; 12 segments 1,2,3,4,5,6 etc etc...but instead i have 1,2,3,6,5,4. No clue how it got that way but ive reset multiple times. I have a jump after in the middle of the 5 segment but dont think that should matter.
@@jbsdiytv I only have one device on the app so far. The outdoor pros. I am trying to set white lights in the corners and eave peaks. Its not a big deal to "find" the correct light. But noticed that strand 3 on the house is strand 6 on the app and strand 4 on the house is strand 5 on the app. Before and after that they are fine.
I really want to find out how to turn off the effects so that I can have a few selected lights on and only those lights. no twinkle, gradient, breathe, etc... just "ON"
Can you not create your own custom segments on the non pros? I did on my Pros. The slider bar to select individual lights is a real pain to manage! There are lots of little nuances in this app for groups and better individual light control
Can you put on more than 150ft on one controller? I bought 150 ft and a 100 ft. Can i put them together or do i have to put the 100ft on another controller.
The 150ft kit is all you can do. It won’t read past 9 segments(108 lights) in the apps. On the 100ft, you can add 3 more strands which makes 150ft. You can group your controllers in same-model group in the app to sync. Make sure you keep your strands running in the same direction for left to right or right to left so all your scenes look in sync
Can i control the saturation of a certain product ? bc my govee neon rope is not matching two of my lyra floor lamp , i have the neon rope above the tv and the floor lamp on both sides , even when all 3 of them are in the same group they are not colour accurate
Hello there. I’ve only been working with the Govee outdoor permanent lighting. I may have to start researching those products, understand it and then make some videos on them. Sorry, I wouldn’t be able to answer question at the moment. Thanks
Great video, man! Well done! Definitely the best tutorial vid out there. Gonna get the Govee Home App on the ipad. Might be a little easier to maneuver.
I'm wondering if you could help me I'm having trouble playing the music that is saved on my phone on the Govi lamp Pro do you have any insight when I pull up the lamps on my bluetooth app on my phone and click on them it says needs another app
Someone was having the same issue on my facebook Govee group. With the app updates, some firmware isn’t updated so if you have an iPhone, offload the app and bring it back. If that doesn’t work for you then delete the app and reinstall it. That should fix it. Don’t worry, deleting the app isn’t deleting your devices, just sign back in and it will all be there. Hope this helps you.
I haven't purchased yet as I'm still doing research but is there an option to turn them on at Sunset since that changes throughout the year or do I have set a specific time myself as sunset changes?
@tmartins63 yes do a factory reset by pressing for 5 seconds. If that doesn’t work go to settings at the top right and find and adjust your segmented strands. 100ft is 6 segments and 150ft is 9 segments. Count your strands you have
Reset did not. Make any difference. I have the 100’ + 1 more extra strand + the extension wire. Settings states 7 segments. Do I need to add a segment for the extension wire? I also ordered 1 more section which I should receive this weekend. When I am done I will have 8 segments of lights and 1 extension wire.
What the heck did Govee do to the app? Sorry to say, that these outdated videos are no longer usable if Govee makes such big changes to their app. Can’t even follow how to set up my pro lights now. Frustrating! JB, reach back out to Govee about this and see if they have a fix or a better tutorial. Appreciate your videos JB!
I absolutely agree. I’ve contacted them and they are moving forward with the updates. Yeah I understand about the older videos. I plan to make a new updated video so I’m quickly learning everything they have changed and finding where they put it. Thanks for your concern. I’ve also made a new FB Govee group that focuses on solely on the app for advice and questions. You’re more than welcome to join and put your input. I created this to help out my followers. facebook.com/share/2J7qhMDYTKfoXZAd/?mibextid=K35XfP
They move a lot of stuff around that’s for sure lol. Usually when you break something you can’t use it anymore but this like getting a new device and learning it once again. I feel your pain. Took me about 3 weeks to re-learn it
Hey JB, thank you for all the information. I have a question about distance between the controller/power supply to the first LED. Do you usually keep the distance relatively close, or can I run an extension between the controller and first LED? Thanks in advance.
Hi and thank you for your question. From the connection of the power supply to the connection of the controller is 21’ 4”. Govee has manufactured boosters within their line so all that is covered for no voltage/data drop. So if your wanting to add the 12’ extension provided by Govee to the beginning before the lights, there is no issue as the 12’ extension is manufactured with a booster as well. It doesn’t really matter where that extension goes in the installation but I recommend using that 12’ extension where you have a big jump. If you have no jumps then what I described will work. The 18-3 wire I use in my videos are usually made for 3-5ft jumps. Nothing more than that. I can make 4 at those lengths and I have had no issues. Hope this answers your question
Good question. We install the controller and power supply in the attic at the front for connectivity and for access if at ever it needs to be change out by the home owner. You don’t want the homeowner trying to climb at 26’ ladder outside. The controller and adapter are IP65 waterproof but don’t chance the main source to your lights to be exposed. If your segmentation of lights are not properly set, go into the app, then settings at the top right, then Settings of Number of Segments. 100ft should be set to 6 segments(72 lights) for all your lights to properly work. If you still have issues then you will have to go to the controller, hold for 5secs and it resets the segments to current install. Hope this helps
@@noexistence1 advanced is no longer in the same place under color. It used to be next to segmented but they have moved that to finger sketch in its own tab. The finger sketch is the same as advanced. You can also find this in DIY to finger sketch and re-edit your scenes you’ve created. If you need further assistance let me know. Thanks for watching
@@jbsdiytv thanks! :) Any recommendations on how to install the lights? I have aluminum soffits and I was thinking of maybe getting a board, mounting the lights to the board and mounting the board to the soffits (I assume there are rafters overhanging under the soffits I can mount to. I was looking at cable tracks but at $18USD each for 220inches, I’d need to spend $144USD ($200CAD) just to cover the 150ft.
@noexistence1 if you want it on a track, then definitely have to factor in the price but it can all be done by using self tappers or pointed screws for metal depending what gauge is that soffit. You can use 3D mounts for Govee lights that have screw holes. Screws would need to be #6-#8 with 3/4” long with painted heads
@@jbsdiytv I did order 3D printed mounts off ebay (for the H705C which sounds like the H805 is the same design, different node). Did you have any issues keeping the cable flat/clean looking?
@noexistence1 they are the same size. With the non pros, the wire is always tricky to straighten out. What I always do is lay the strands out in the sun before installing them so when I go to install them, the wire has been straightened out and if anything, when I give it a little tug on it, I anchor it and it stays firm
That app is a headache. 😂
🙈😂😂
Yeah, I tried literally any of the preset options and it’s like seizure lighting. Just give me some smooth cool designs
@MikeyWand did you bring the speed down on your DIY? If not, try that. You can also go to the explore and pick user settings of their DIY and apply them to yours. When I say DIY I mean actually making one in Advanced settings and slowing the speed down
Totally agree
I agree as well. It took me about 2 years to figure 80% of the app and still learning something new everyday. I’m willing to help you get to where you need if you let me. If not I completely understand
This is the best Govee outdoor lights APP use video period. Thank you !
Wow, we appreciate that. Thank you for your support.👍
Great Video - Thanks for Sharing!!!
Thank you sir for watching. Good luck with the app
@@jbsdiytvit’s the worst app ever btw
Great instructional video of the app. Maybe you have already done this, but it would be nice to show the app (like you are in this video) with the lights on the other half of the video, to show us what the lights are doing while you program it, and to show what some of these options actually do. This is the best video I could find on how to use the app. Thanks!
Thanks for watching. I will definitely take this into consideration and deliver a video for it
This is the worst app interface I’ve ever seen. It clearly has a lot of customization but nobody can work the menu without studying it for several hours. Thanks for the video, this helped a lot
Yes it definitely can be a headache no doubt about that. There are still some areas within the app I need to study some more. I’ll continue to put more short videos on the app when I get around to it
I agree, the worst app I have ever used.
@ Everything about it sucks. You must be an investor or the owner of this horrible product if you feel the need to defend it
@@Dewster_42 just name a better one. Just actually name it.
Thanks. I have several Govee devices and have ordered the Permanent Lights. The App is really "busy" so I usually find what I like and stick with it.
So glad you’re install worked out. Great job💪👌
Ok thanks! I wasn't aware thats how to stop the color changing.
No worries, I did it a few times myself when learning. The app takes some time getting use to. Good luck
Well done, thank you for this
Hello JB, I have enjoyed your videos and will be installing these Govee Perm Lights pro version on my house this weekend.
Great video, I’m struggling to find how to turn certain lights off in the app, so you have any tips?
Hello, thanks for visiting the channel. In the app hit color button. This can be done in segmented for groups of 4 or individually work each light in advance settings. To turn off lights it’s the white box with a red slash across it.. this cannot be done in the preset modes. Hope this helps
@@jbsdiytv thanks so much!
@@jbsdiytvI don’t have the advanced option. Any other suggestions?
Hi, great video. Can I use the "same model group" option for 150-ft and 50-ft outdoor lights (separate controllers)? Or do they have to be same size to use that option?
Yes you can group them in same-model. Doing so will allow you to control everything from the group with Govee scenes and user scenes. Stationary solid colours should be done in each individual device as group solids does not respond well to
Can you physically cutout four lights out of a middle strand? It works best for me for installation. Will it still work in succession? Thanks ! Great video !
On the Govee pros, I have not had a problem doing this, as for the non pros they need to all be in sequence with each other as they are dependent on each other
Nice job. Very helpful. I’d like to know if can add additional sections to finish out a section of roof line. I have the 100ft kit right now.
Hi thanks for watching. Do you have the 1st gen or pros? 1st gen 3 strands, Pros 6 strands
Yes, Maximum is 150 ft.
If you have the 100ft kit, you can add 3 more strands to it. If you have the 150ft then yes that’s the max. 100ft pros you can add 6 extra strands
@chadkumm7861 yes we all did. Govee did a dang update on everyone’s Halloween night. Smh
@@jbsdiytv thanks for the reply! I was freaking out thinking something on my as I just got the 2nd story installed.....
@chadkumm7861 not a problem. lmao, my brain quickly went into thinking mode and was ready to make new content
What kind of wire did you use to splice your wires together? Ie: 7 lights, long wire spliced and 5 lights. I bought 20AWG wire off of Amazon and it didn’t work. Would you mind sending some links of recommended products ? Thanks so much! 😊
Hello, we used BTF 18/3. Only make your jumps 2-3ft. This is only for small jumps. The link is in the description
You can put patterns on your design in advanced settings
awesome
Great Video! I love that you are answering peoples questions. Your tutorials are really well done. I'd like to see one done on Do's and Don't of Cutting and Splicing.
Thanks for watching. I’ll do reply with a video
Thank you for doing this. Everything makes sense now
Thanks for sharing your knowledge
May I know how to switch on one bulb at a time while the rest are off for string lights
Thanks
can you have the permanent outdoor light, curtain and spot in same group and sync them? or I need the outdoor box?
Can I connect via the app remotely outside my home network?
You can group them in same-model group. Cannot connect to app outside via app remotely due to grouping WiFi issues. Works better with only one device
I would like them all to react to music in synchronized manner
6 - curtain lights
4 - Christmas string lights
2 - permanent LED
2 - outdoor LED strip light Wifi
2 - Rope lights
2 - 96ft string lights
Have you tried putting them all in same-model group?
Can you set multiple scenes to run one after another so that it mixes it up, or is it just stuck in 1 pattern until it’s manually changed?
@michaelaaron3792
check my discussion with JB. I wanted the same feature too.
Just bring down the speed
Thanks so much!!
I know you probably already answered this question but 1. if your strand is too long can you cut it off at the end? Sealing the cut end of course.
Hi there and thanks for your question. No worries at all. Yes you can cut it but don’t go less than 4 lights
@@jbsdiytv I'm sorry, I meant group them so they work together with the app
@lelandhitchcock yes, you can group them under same model group and then add devices
Is there a way to set each day and have a different Christmas snapshot or DIY for every day of the week ?
I appreciate your videos so much, thank you! I ordered the outdoor curtain lights and I am having the Govee Pro outdoors installed in 2 weeks. I saw how you created a group for 2 individual runs of lights, will I be able to sync both of these and run them to music? Thank you again.
Hello. Great vid. Can you tell me if you can only turn on some of the lights ? Like if I only wanted every other light on can i do that?
Thanks
Thanks for watching. Yes you can do this in advance settings to control each individual light. Use the red slash box with a white background to turn off lights. Bring, your speed all the way down and bring the relative background brightness to 80%
Thanks as always. Lots of info here.
How do I save a DIY for permanent lights? I have three sets of 100 feet connected.
I see how to create and that works. How do I save these to my own DYI section? Thanks man
*Same model group control
Wish I could attach a pic here for you.
Is a snapshot the same as a DIY? (Do your snapshots appear next to your DIYs as choices when doing the timer, for example?)
Thanks for watching. Yes it is the problem. Each device has a different model and uses different features of the app.
Is there a way to put same model group control on a timer? I do not see the option in the group editing area like you do for individual-Thanks again!!
Yup that is correct. Also, you can save users DIY from the explore. Hit save and it will be in there when setting an automation schedule
?
Ok.. the batch operation is for deleting several scenes you no longer want in your diy.
Also i can't seem to get automation timer set up correctly. It doesn't come on at the set time. The only timer I can get to work is off the main menu, under device.. timer.. It will run only one of my scenes between the set times. Any ideas?
Can you link multiple DIY creations to run consecutively in a loop run?
Sorry must of missed this message. You can create your DIY then place them in automation schedules and pick certain times you want it to turn to a different diy
Do the lights have to be connected to WiFi for the timers to work? If so how are you getting good WiFi signal to outside controllers?
Is there anyway I can turn off one single LED? Possibly forever without cutting or making modification?
Thank you. Can the extensions be cut to size? I read somewhere that you can't cut them. @@jbsdiytv
You’re welcome, not a problem. Sounds like you got the 150ft kit. Good luck
Someone help me out every time I switch my lights on they turn purple WHYYYYY I don’t know how to change default color
hi thank you! this really helped me. the problem i have now is that the lights automatically turn off after 5 mins then i have to retstart. i noticed that when you use 2 light strips blue tooth inly recognizes 1. i have the xmas tree lights. can you help me troubleshoot why the lights shut off?
Hi and thanks for watching. Your welcome. That means you are setting offs in your schedules. Only set on for each device. You should have your primary timers set for on and off which is located once you hit the device name then timers is in the Home Screen. Also, delete any schedules you don’t need so the app isn’t confused to what to use. As for the Bluetooth goes, have you grouped the devices in same-model group so it recognizes both at the same time
Great video! I saw you showed my Workshop creation at 15:04!!! 🤩🤩🤩
Thanks so you think I’ll have problems with the preset scenes? They won’t flow correctly?
ruclips.net/video/hp0-Meclzv0/видео.htmlsi=uBpo4afWppRfQ_PT time stamp about nine :27
In my globo I don’t see the community DIYs. Where I can find them? Thanks
Just set the on for them
My Govee lights lined up perfectly with the channels in my soffit. The entire 100 ft. Amazing.
Great video. Any reason why when I group 2 of same model, the WiFi option goes away? It says they can only be controlled via Bluetooth.
That should not be happening. Do both Bluetooth and WiFi symbols show when you go to them individually?
@@jbsdiytv individual yes, but when i group them so one action controls both, it says only works via bluetooth
@proedgebiker yes I have noticed that people have been mentioning this. The only way to have a work around this is tell your Alexa/Google to turn your outdoor lights on from your phone where ever you are located then the wifi gets picked up because they are on now. You can also set up schedules for certain scenes and turn them on/off whenever you want to use them
How do you get to the advanced settings to make the lights move when you have just one (200' PRO Set) device?
What other social platforms do you have so I can message you?
When a light strip comes with dual light strip rolls can I turn 1 roll off? I'm using the H618f 100ft model
You can turn them off in the segment area. Also, if you have to separate controllers you should be able to
Hi JB, thanks for the videos. I have two 100' units that I created a group for. Is there a way to sync that I can do a chase diy that will go from one to the other? Thanks
Yes, group them in same-model group. Once you pick a DIY then they will both will respond in sync. Hope this helps
@jbsdiytv yes in sync but from the last led in the first string to the first one in the second?
I want a section of the lights to do something different from another part. Is there anyway i can make different sections of lights? Not just colors, but effects too.
Hi and thanks for watching. The effects run through the whole system when creating a DIY or using user diys. The only thing you can do is individually shut them off or place a different color but the effects take over your strands
@@jbsdiytv okay. Thanks! I wish there was a group edit thing where you can only adjust the last three strands per say.
Yes this can be done in automation scheduling. Plan by week and you can add multiple times, days
@@jbsdiytv thanks will try it out tomorrow as i just recently installed and need final touch ups in installing power plug closer to start line of the lights run and will try to do test set up with automation
@iparxo good luck
Thanks for your hard work.
Can I have more than 150 lf. In a single controller. Thanks
Hi thanks for watching. If you buy the 150ft kit you can. Comes with two 12’ blank extensions
I made a spotlight DIY. , once it’s saved , how am I able to go back into it and change some settings? How can I updates DIY I ALREADY made and saved ?
Great video, been trying for months to figure out how to use the DIY. do you know how to find the color black?
Yes sir, that’s the off button lol. Actually can’t do black just dark purple
If I set a timer for basic will it also work for same group ???
🤷♂️sorry I couldn’t help
Need to do a video on the strip lights since I get asked about the Govee strip lights as well
@@jbsdiytv Ah, that makes sense. Thanks again!
Can I use effects in groups?
Can you do a video on recessed lighting? I installed them but i cant seem to sync them all in the app
Thank you for the great tutorials..... Much appreciated....
Thanks for watching. Some of the videos are up to date with the app but some look different because they are before the updates. Let me know if you have an questions
Where do I go in app to look at others have made ? Then how can I save if I like ?

Can you sink 3x50footers on 3 separate controllers together as if it was one entire strip?
Yes it can be done in same model group. You just have to install the strands, controllers in the same direction because the presets won’t go opposite from each just the advance custom settings
Actually if you need to end with less than 4 you can but you need to start with 4, reset the strand with the 4 then you can cut them down to less, I have done this as I needed 2 lights to finish a run.
Yes that’s correct, we have others reaching out that it can be less than 4. Chris Maher tested this as well. Thank you for sharing
I would like to get a quote for installing on a one story house in Fair Oaks Ranch Tx.
We are booked till the end of February. Thank you for your support
Hi how can I set 2 different colors for 2 different time time set, like by example 18:00 to 21:00 rainbow and 4:00 to 5:00 winter???? Cause on the time part I don’t see nothing to pick colors scene,???
That will be in automation, set each add action to on, don’t set an off. Let the timer from the device that you set take control of the off
My friend how can I turn off individual lights? I have 6 lights that go up the side of the roof as it was not a spot for an extension and I need to turn them off.
In advance settings, use the white box with a red slash on it. If you’re trying to turn them for the Gove presets, then you can’t. Tape them with black electrical tape
I just bought a pack of the 4 light bulbs from Govee. And was able to set them up through the app the issue is I want someone else to access the lights on their phone . Do you have to have 2 separate accounts for the bulbs ? We were able to add them on both phones but would quit working and disappear??
No sir, all you have to do is give them the email and password you set up an Govee account at the beginning and they can control it as well.
Few things, do you have devices grouped and are you trying to create a solid scene?
@@jbsdiytv I only have one device on the app so far. The outdoor pros. I am trying to set white lights in the corners and eave peaks. Its not a big deal to "find" the correct light. But noticed that strand 3 on the house is strand 6 on the app and strand 4 on the house is strand 5 on the app. Before and after that they are fine.
I really want to find out how to turn off the effects so that I can have a few selected lights on and only those lights. no twinkle, gradient, breathe, etc... just "ON"
Take your speed all the way down. Are you doing this in advance settings correct?
This was the answer... once I turned it down all the way it was perfect. THANK YOU!!!!@@jbsdiytv
@macevans1246 no problem at all. Your welcome. Happy New Year
I do not have the options music, colour, scene or DIY on my app. Plus I don't have the segmented light setting to pick different colours why help???
Do you have the outdoor permanent lights
Can you not create your own custom segments on the non pros? I did on my
Pros.
Thanks
Thanks JB, this video has really helped make a better understanding of the Govee app!!
Awesome. So glad this has helped you. Good luck and have fun with the app and your lights
I have the same model rgbic lights but I connect connect them both?
Do you have the latest app update? Also, make sure your on 2ghz and not 5ghz
I setup accent lights in white. However many of my other lights that are supposed to be off are showing a dim white light. Any idea why? Thanks.
Were you able to do an update at initial set up? Some of my clients have seen that in there lights. It’s only happening in the new batch of lights
@@jbsdiytv I added an extra section of lights and I may need to reset. I will do a reset as you described in the video and see if that helps. Thanks.
I just discovered that I have the brightness at 100%. If I reduce it to 98% the lights that are off remain off. I’ll leave it at that for now.

They broke their app smh
They move a lot of stuff around that’s for sure lol. Usually when you break something you can’t use it anymore but this like getting a new device and learning it once again. I feel your pain. Took me about 3 weeks to re-learn it
Thanks for the explanation.. now i can do the cool stuff!
Thanks for watching. Good luck
@@jbsdiytv Should the controller be physically accessible to manage the lights, or can I just use the Govee app?
Where do you get in the app the lights that have been created by somebody else? I saw it the first time and now I can’t find them 😢
I've worked out how to set my floodlights with two colours on a timer. How do I switch between mic mode without deleting my timed profile?
Is Advanced no longer available? I just got the Elite and I don’t see the Advanced option
Any recommendations on how to install the lights?
