It's been one hell of a year for the film industry, why not do a recap with clips from Looney Tunes?

EDIT (1/19/24) - This has hit 1K likes... screw it, part 2 is now in production. PLEASE stay tuned! Thank you all, truthfully.
Wow, okay... this got way more popular than I thought it would have.
I'm making and pinning this comment to address that I'm fully aware that I haven’t fully covered the entire year or slate of movies. *Who's up for part 2?*
ME!
Same
Just you wait!
I am. Let's hope that this year will be a lot better, Especially the Centennial Anniversaries of Columbia Pictures & MGM.
DO IT.
I wholeheartedly believe that Looney Tunes can be used to portray anything.
There's only two things in this world that can portray literally everything....
that's Looney Tunes and SpongeBob
@@SparkzEnt And The Simpsons.
If it's not SpongeBob it's Looney Tunes.
Mushroom Kingdom was violently pulverized to the ground by Little Blonde, the blubber bloat of Malibu island.
Looney Tunes, and Golden Age SpongeBob, Simpsons, and South Park, and Monty Python can cover 99% of most commentaries
It would have been funny if you did the “duck season, rabbit season” poster moment to portray the Barbinheimer phenomenon.
Elmer Season = Haunted Mansion
@@tvs6607 Box Office Bombs: Shhh... be very very quiet, we're hunting the Haunted Mansion: Movie.
Duck season fire .
Screen nuke
With Bugs being Oppenheimer and Daffy being Barbie
@@adamzabielski3685 Puh-leeze. Which one of them crossdresses more frequently, again?
Considering the fact that 2023 was the 100th anniversary of Disney and Warner Brothers (a big lucky deal), how they surprisingly failed during the box office, and how the strike made the writers and actors not promote their movies in the first place, which would’ve made them even more popular, I’d say this is pretty accurate!
At least WB had their highest-grossing film of all time for their centennial, which is something I can't say about Disney.
@@tvs6607 Which one was that?
Barbie. @@joeyglusky4774
Both studios are censoring their products... for the good of (honestly I don't know) whoever....I'm saying stand up for the past
@@Donathon-qx8kq Disney seems to be doing it a lot lately. Besides the brief Gone with the Wind removal from Max, I haven't seen Warner tamper with their product that much.
I'm sad there wasn't a Godzilla, but the bit about Wish backfiring on Disney on Thanksgiving was so damn funny, I'm sharing this with everyone I know.
@andrewclark7559 Once Upon a Studio was a better 100 year anniversary celebration than Wish will ever be. In fact there’s tons of people on RUclips rewriting Wish’s story
I think it’s incredible that the most critically well received blockbuster film of the whole year was a Godzilla movie. That’s never happened before. Even Shin Godzilla, phenomenal as it was, is considered a cult classic
im surprised guardians 3 and Spiderverse 2 wasn't used as the only super hero movie that didn't struggle
Yeah, the jokes here seemed to mostly consist of box office failures or movies that destroyed other movies.
I get that Looney Tunes fits those kinds of jokes to a tee, but it wasn’t all doom and gloom for superhero films.
@@CJ-ln5ov I addressed that in the pinned comment.
I don't think Guardians 3 made a lot of money, it wasn't exactly a run away hit, I know it broke even but it wasn't talked about much and made only a small amount of money compared to the bombs that the company suffered through out the year, all self infict wounds and I would be surprised if 2024 is even worse for the company!!
I ended up just laughing at the classic Looney tunes gags lol
Honestly, that's the best thing to do
Bugs bunny hating that turtle is funny. He so rarely loses his cool
Couldn't think of a perfect fit for the modern film industry until now
I think the perfect way to describe Godzilla Minus One winning big at the box office would be when Bugs and Yosemite Sam too busy fighting during the election, only to realize that they lost to a horse.
Yosemite Sam: Napoleon
Bugs: Killers of the Flower Moon
The Horse: Godzilla Minus One
The black cat scratching Wile E Coyote as The Eras Tour movie was clever since Taylor Swift had a lot of pet cats.
5:48 is brilliant. It completely recontextualizes the joke and makes it still just as funny.
I would have a honorable mention that Godzilla minus one actually beat KOTFM and Napoleon at the box office
I looked at the numbers, Minus One had a smaller budget and profited more, but it didn't gross more than Flower Moon or Napoleon. I probably should've brought up Godzilla and The Boy and the Heron's winning streaks though.
@@tvs6607 and honorable mention a train crash looney tunes showing KOTFM/Napoleon/Marvels due to disappointing box office performances
I work at a movie theater and so when i say these are painfully accurate THEY ARE
Great minds think alike, I work at a theater too.
@@tvs6607 you did forget one thing, the super Mario movie standing on the dead bodies of so many other films like Jesus it outsold for months until barbie
I'm aware that I didn't fully cover it all in this video, I'm gonna try to acknowledge it in part 2. @@Cruzer108
• 3:37 Scream VI

• 3:43 Transformers: Rise of the Beasts (nominated at the Annie Awards as the third Transformers movie to be nominated for the golden zoetrope award)
• 3:47 Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation
• 3:50 Paramount should consider themselves lucky.
Rise of the Beasts was a toy commercial
It’s a shame about the D&D film. I thought the movie was great even though I’m not much of a fan of that franchise.
@@kainthedragoon8081isn’t that what all modern Transformers movies are?
@@Kpimpmasteruh, no. transformers IS a toy commercial. all of it. that's why it was created - by hasbro, remember? to sell imported toys, y'know. with a comic and cartoon, too!
@@yeeoof1995 you can say that about almost every kids show on tv
You should’ve done a gag with how the Japanese films like Minus One and Boy and The Heron did (and still are) doing more numbers than any film in 2023 (and this month)
Yeah I was expecting them at the end
2023 was a crazy year for movies.
Especially when there's a 135th anniversary last year.
0:42 indeed
yeah, crazy boring

“Robert A. Igor: Super Genius”
(TRAIN WHISTLING IN DISTANCE)
I like the way that rolls out.
“Robert A. Igor: Super Genius”
(TRAIN HONKING IN DISTANCE)
BOOM!
In all seriousness though, this is definitely the 2023 Disney problem in a nutshell. What a waste of a centennial anniversary…
The fact you can shelve a movie and still use it as a tax write off is fucking insane.
There should have been a segment with Godzilla Minus One destroying Wish
Always like how sometimes Looney tunes would do crossovers with like
Bugs and daffy or wile coyote and
Sylvester.
5:30 And that, my friends, is called a box office bomb
James Cameron: I made 2 billion dollars! Why do you twerps still not respect my masterpieces?!?!?!?
The internet: Cause you’re using tropes and plots that were stale in 1986
To be fair you can't avoid tropes and cliché completely, even the greatest stories have them. What matters is how you use them
Please let's make more "things portrayed by Looney Tunes" videos. Let's make this a big trend ...
This was more entertaining than a whole year of Hollywood’s offerings. I’m not sure if that’s hilarious or pathetic for them. Keep up the good work
That was one of the most accurate representation of last year’s movies I have ever seen.
Poor Zachary Levi. He seems like a nice guy. At least he got to voice Rocky in Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget
TL;DW: Apart from Barbenheimer, GoTG 3, and Mario, 2023 was a bloodbath for Hollywood.
Remember that Avatar 2 came out in 2022.
I don't like Avatar, but it is funny how there are several videos claiming it'll be a box office failure
I'm surprised to see that some 2023 horror films didn't make it in this
2023 was an interesting year
I say I'll rather be in 2020 than this Shit hole of a year fuck off 2023 and fuck off disney and marvel
DC is Infinite Better than you disney
The one with Wish was hilarious when Wile Coyote tried to blow up the ground 😂😂😂
Fans and audience take notes with this.
Sometimes I feel like you can set up a bingo chart for David Zaslav's idiocy and get a crap ton of spots cleared.
So basically just an entire year of films either flopping or getting outshined by other ones that come out at the same time conveniently lol
David Zaslav is ruining Warner Brothers.
Now that the issues with the film industry have noticed, hopefully it will move positively forward. *Also, yay, Looney Tunes film next year.*
Mr Murell, you've been meme'd.
the zach levi part was on point.
Laughing...and then crying about 100% accurate this was.
Really glad that there's a video out there that appeals to my specific niche interests.
I feel like with the clip regarding Aquaman and Color Purple, Wonka should've been one of the movies in the top of the frame, but I'm guessing you didn't include all 3 movies are owned by WB.
Precisely. Maybe if there was a third character racing with Road Runner and Speedy, I would've included Wonka. I'll acknowledge them in the second part, though.
Excellent satire on the 2023 Hollywood situation. 😂
Great cartoon gag choices! Very enjoyable video!
Tex Avery would love this.
There has to be a Looney Tunes clip somewhere to portray 'Past Lives' and 'Asteroid City' giving 'Transformers ROTB' and 'The Flash' a hard time respectively.
There's a Looney Tunes clip for every situation.
2:49 “That one Ezra Miller Apologist” killed right there 😂
So glad I only went to the drive in once and missed most of these. It was a double feature of of Transformers ROTB and Guardians of the Galaxy 3.
I'm surprised they didn't talk about five nights at Freddy's
Woah! Daffy quickly went from a real winner to a real winner. ahaha The Daffy Barbie one was the funniest for me, but then, appropriately, immediately after, Bugs took the royal crown with that Sound of Freedom invisible shield being my favorite! haha JesterBell gave us the heads up about your video this morning! Keep up the great work and hope you have a fantastic weekend! God bless you and yours!
This needs more views!! this was so perfectly done and encapsulates everything so well 😂😂
Oh yeah Barbie? Just wait til the Mario movie sequel!
Barbie and SMB Movie both were nominated for a Golden Globe, with the former beating out the latter two times for Best Original Song and Cinematic and Box Office Achievement.
VIVA LA SPAGHETTI!
Truly shocking how there wasn't a single Barbenheimer one
It was so funny to include some disney's failures like wish😂💀.
4:15 Two Universal vampire horror movies with no other choice but to be critically divided
This is the most accurate & hilarious thing I've seen all year (for 2023 that is)! Quick Question tho: Can you maybe do this sort of thing for previous/future years? I think that would be kind of neat.
5:27
The slasher movie Thanksgiving would've worked there.
Beautiful, just a beautiful job with this video. Well done.
And yeah, I didn't think Avatar 2 would do as well as it did. Liked it a tiny bit more than I thought I would too.
I’m surprised with the Paramount one you didn’t do that with Disney instead.
The main basis with Paramount is that they picked poor release dates for a lot of their movies filled with competition and are in the process of getting sold off, Disney has more detailed reasons as to why a lot of their movies tanked last year, and they at least have the advantage of bouncing back like they always do.
@@tvs6607 I feel incredibly bad for Paramount, because despite the poor release schedules, I genuinely liked a lot of the stuff they put out. Disney on the other hand… yeah not so much.
James Cameron's secret: Starting work on Avatar 2 before getting bought out by Disney and thus being forced to subsist on Marvel's table scraps.
Elemental is being called a 'sleeper hit,' now.
yeah but 200 million budget on a generic kids movie is ridiculous. Especially considering that Japan and DreamWorks have made more quality with less budget needed
well when Disney had its slump of forgettable movies between the Renaissance and Platinum eras (Fantasia 2000, Dinosaur, TENG, Atlantis, Lilo&Stitch, Treasure Planet, Brother Bear, Home on the Range, Chicken Little, Meet the Robinsons, and Bolt) and pumped out those DVD Sequels at an alarming rate, Pixar was right in the middle of its Golden Era (Monsters Inc, Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, Cars, Ratatouille, and WALL-E)
Barbie vs. Super Mario should have been Barbie & Oppenheimer vs. Mission Impossible. You’re welcome. 😎
It's to reference how Barbie dethroned Mario to become the highest-grossing film of 2023.
@@tvs6607 Well-played, Barbie. 🤑
@@tvs6607I'm with Mario
It’s hilarious how accurate it is.
Can you do 2023 Video Game Industry portrayed by Looney Tunes
I love how the guy behind this video had the exact same idea as me with the Avatar 2 meme.
You should do more of these.
If the demand is there, I might do a part 2, because I still haven't fully covered it.
Sound of Freedom vs Indiana Jones 5 😂😂😂
Imagine having the final installment of a well known film series lose to a film you shelved 4 years ago.
@@callmevbuck4054 that would be embarrassing
I don’t even like films and I’m loving this video.
Best shit I’ve seen in a while
As a cinema employee, I am glad that Transformers Rise of the Beasts did better than the majority of the superhero films that came out last year, except for Guardians 3 and Across the Spider-Verse of course
5:08 funny how coyote vs acme was a looney tunes movie and this looney toons cartoon portrayed it for being cancelled by WB
Hopefully 2024 will be a bit better.
Elemental Roadrunner is so sweet!
The Super Mario Bros movie was much better than Barbie
But Barbie did better at the box office
@@Kpimpmaster I didn’t say that because of the box office results, I said that because the Barbie movie was cringe to me and the Mario movie was awesome.
@@martincraw7698 and that’s is a good movie by studio standards

Well that entire strike was a massive waste of time
All this is so true! Have you done this for previous years?
This was pretty funny, but I’m surprised there was NO mention of Godzilla Minus One
the Quantumania one hits too hard XD
3:48 Hayley Atwell is _literally the only reason_ I'd watch _MI7._
0:33-0:51 Loud House fans after SpongeBob winning the 2024 Kids Choice Awards.
What? No jab at The Marvels specifically?
Depends, are you up for a part 2 of this video?
Two Dracula movies in the same year is nothing. Two Dracula _blockbuster_ movies in the year is a different story.
3:25 THANK YOU SO MUCH
GODS CHILDREN ARE NOT FOR SALE.
That fall for strays and blue beetle better than the movies...
5:08 I like the way you used the Rebel Rabbit clip
What about Godzilla Minus One? That's the best movie of 2023
That's not a Hollywood film
Don't care if it's Hollywood or not, Minus One crushed every movie
These jokes are so niche yet so funny. 😂
I gotta tell ya, this was truly and always will be accurately based.
That is one of those kinda good takes on movies last year lol.
Should have been one about the sag and afra unions demanding more jobs while AI is there to make 99% of them obsolete. Studio agrees, then immediately outsources.
I'm thinking of a clip from A Tale of Two Kitties.
Babbet: GIVE ME THE BIRD! GIVE ME THE BIRD!
(SAGAFRA "demanding more money")
Catstello: "oh if they'd let me, id give him the bird alright"
(Studios waiting for AI to be good enough to fire them all)
I lost it at Taylor v. Exorcist.
The film industry!
The Super Mario Bros. Movie got down by Barbie Movie. The Super Mario Bros. Movie are my favourite movie.
Yeah I don't know why Barbie beat SMB. SMB was a great movie.
5:13 NOOOOOOO COME BACK!!!! 😭😭😭😭😭
I love it
Id love to see ths become a yearly thing
That's the plan.
Disregard my comment below because you literally answered it with Part 2. Bravo my friend
It would've been nice if you mentioned the saviors of the 2023 box office: Godzilla: Minus One and (as much as I don't like it because it's weird) The Boy and the Heron
