    Filming
    Although Crystal Skull was largely shot in the U.S., Marshall said that the fifth film would return to a global range of filming locations like the earlier films. Principal photography began in the U.K. on June 4, 2021. Shooting locations include Pinewood Studios and Bamburgh Castle. Scenes were also filmed at the North Yorkshire Moors Railway near Grosmont, where an action sequence involving Ford's stunt double was shot and replicas of World War II era Nazi military vehicles were seen on set. Ford himself was spotted in Grosmont on June 7, 2021. During mid-June, filming took place at the Leaderfoot Viaduct in Scotland, while a motorcycle chase was shot in the Scottish village of Glencoe. Other Scottish locations included Biggar, South Lanarkshire.
    Later in June, location shooting moved to London where a street in Hackney was lined with vintage cars. Filming also took place inside a private residence which was reportedly chosen for its period style interior. However, filming allegedly caused controversy with local residents who were said to have complained about the disruption it had caused. On June 23, Ford reportedly had injured his shoulder during the rehearsal of a fight scene and it was announced that the production crew would shoot around his recovery. In July, shooting moved to Glasgow's city centre, which was transformed to resemble New York City. A chase sequence, shot along St. Vincent Street and other areas, recreates a 1969 ticker tape parade celebrating the return of the Apollo 11 astronauts. A stunt double, Mike Massa, performed in place of Ford throughout the Glasgow shoot, with motion capture markers applied to his face. Holbrook and Waller-Bridge were also on set. Filming in Glasgow lasted two weeks. Ford resumed filming in September 2021, and some shooting took place in the Hatton Garden area of London, which also doubled as New York City.[citation needed]
    A month later, production moved to Sicily, Italy. The Italian shoot includes nearly 600 crew members. Filming began in the city of Syracuse, with locations such as the Ear of Dionysius cave, the Grotta Dei Cordari cave, the Neapolis archaeological park, and Castello Maniace. Subsequent shooting locations in Sicily included the city of Cefalù and the Province of Trapani. The latter location included filming in the towns of Castellammare del Golfo and Marsala. Ford and Waller-Bridge also filmed at the Temple of Segesta. Some filming in Sicily involved actors dressed as Roman soldiers, which created speculation that the film's storyline involves time travel. Filming began in Fez, Morocco, on October 17, 2021. On November 4, a camera operator named Nic Cupac was found dead in his Morocco hotel room; Disney stated that his death was not production related. Filming was completed on February 26, 2022.
    Ford is expected to be de-aged for a portion of the film. Spielberg had previously rejected the idea of de-aging Ford, saying that he wanted Ford's age to be acknowledged in the film. Phedon Papamichael serves as cinematographer, marking his sixth film with Mangold.
    Music
    In June 2016, Spielberg confirmed that John Williams, who scored for the previous films in the Indiana Jones franchise, would return to compose the music for the fifth film. By 2022, Williams stated that it would be his final film score, following plans for a retirement.
    Release
    The fifth Indiana Jones film is scheduled to be released on June 30, 2023 by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. It was initially set for release on July 19, 2019, but was delayed to July 10, 2020, in favor of the CGI remake of The Lion King, and then shifted to July 9, 2021. The film was further delayed to July 29, 2022, following the impact of COVID-19 pandemic on the film industry. In October 2021, it was further shifted to the current June 2023 date.
    Future
    In June 2022, composer John Williams stated that Harrison Ford intended to retire from acting after the release of the film while confirming his own retirement. Producer Kathleen Kennedy confirmed the previous month that Ford's role as Indiana Jones would not be recast.

    I find it hilarious that one the major complaints of Crystal Skull is that the alien thing is too stupid and not plausible, when really it's the most realistic thing he's going after compared to the stuff in any of the films such as an ark of god, a grail to give you eternal life, and literal voodoo rocks. But that still doesn't stop the rest of its flaws.

      yeah, was already wondering that coz Spielberg isn't directing the 5th iteration. Probably coz 1. He saw the script and was like.... nope! And 2. KK is even less competent as a CEO then she was as his assistent. So I'm not blaming him for opting out. They do put his name as a producer on the cover... don't know why coz KK will bulldoze his name into the ground as she has bulldozed the entire Star Wars franchise to bits; prompting even the wife of Lucas to come out after watching KK's version of the franchise and say KK has absolutely no idea what Star Wars is or is about, nor understands any of it. So I have no expectation that an incompetent person like that could make a watchable Indiana Jones; and the leaked plot confirmed my suspicion. Time travel.... yeah this is an adventure movie, KK; it's not 'back to the future' or Marvel's End-game, you know.... maybe it's good to stick to the genre? 😒

Kennedy is merely ONE of the producers, who include Spielberg, himself, who's constantly on the set right now. I have no idea why you're suggesting that Kathleen Kennedy is "making" Indiana Jones 5 or has some all-empowering influence over it, considering that she had literally NOTHING to do with the story at all; unless you literally don't understand how movies are made. And just FYI, time travel has more of a scientific basis than literally ANYTHING else in the past 4 Indiana Jones movies - time travel would literally be the MOST realistic thing, in terms of being based in actual research and scientific theory. Angel-filled Arks, Magic Rocks, Eternal Life and Aliens have *ZERO* scientific basis. So, time-travel would literally be the most grounded MaGuffin the series has ever had. lol So...go cry about one of the *many* producers on the film to somebody else.

    Yeh, Indy 4 choked the narrative to death with it splicing 1930s Saturday morning adventure flick with 1950s B movies !
    This has Shown that Indy movies found the transition hard and struggled to keep up with the times like James Bond for Instance.
    I’m not saying that Indiana Jones belongs in a museum , but I do believe he belong in the back drop of 1930s , hunting treasures and fighting Nazis!
    Ford has also found it hard to admit this fact , because it would mean he would have to step down and give way for a reboot and recasting of his much loved character.
    I heard that the new Indy 5 movie is trying to address this undeniable truth that Ford is getting too old and the franchise need to go back to its routs , when Indy was in his heyday.
    There is talk of time travel and an earlier setting for this Movie? It’s believed that this movie will use Deepfake and CGI to de age Indy, but will this be enough to carry this movie ? Time will tell?

    I thought a 65 year old Indiana Jones story didn’t work, and now we’re getting an 80 year old Indiana Jones story. Not saying I want a reboot, but this new one just has “giant mistake” written all over it. The main reason why people love this character is because we want to be that character. He’s not full of depth or interesting really. Indy is just fun to watch, but not when he’s elderly. Then it just starts to feel sad, and reminds me that no matter how much fun we have on this earth in our youth. We all get old, become useless, and then eventually die (usually painfully). I want to remember Indiana Jones as a young adventurous man and not an old guy who seriously needs to retire before he ends up either breaking a hip from running away from traps, or forgetting where he is while exploring a tomb. This new film will either feel like a complete joke, or James Mangold might attempt to make it like a depressing character study which is not a smart choice when your lead character is completely unrealistic and not that relatable.

    • @willshad
      @willshad 2 года назад +2

      Older people aren't allowed to have fun? It's kind of an Ageist thinking to assume that just because someone is a certain age that they must act a certain way or are fragile or 'useless'. He was in his 40s during the original Indiana Jones movies anyway..not exactly his 'youth'.

    • @jvenom174
      @jvenom174 2 года назад +1

      @@willshad when you get older your bones become much more brittle, you lose muscle mass that you can’t get back, your pain receptors become more sensitive, and overall your body becomes more limited with every new decade of age you reach. So yes, once you reach your 80’s, most of the physical fun you can have is very limited, and you need to be extremely careful when physically exerting yourself. Harrison already fucked up his shoulder pretty bad while filming this new movie and I think they still have a lot of filming left to do. It seems like he crashes a plane every couple of years now, and I think it’s time to put characters like Indiana Jones behind him rather than risk his actual life to make another one of these movies. There’s nothing wrong with getting old and just relaxing instead of trying to prove you still got it when it doesn’t matter. Harrison’s not the man he used to be and that’s fine. Making an Indiana Jones movie when he’s 80 is just ridiculous at this point. They even made a joke about it in the fourth one, but now he actually is 80.
