    Another tip too is timing especially with the overhead. Shorter whips require less "turnback" time. I instantly change direction on my 6ft bullwhip for an overhead but for my 10ft it takes a good second or so before I need to change direction to get a solid crack

    the last point was really important hahaha. Also, you dont want to crack the whip in a park with a lot of people, most of the people are okay with it, but theres always a crazy person that will think that you are whipping people and stuff and they most likely call the cops on you ( experiences from the past.... ) Trying to avoid dogs is important, a dog try to attack me one time when i literally was on the same spot for 3 hours and the owner and the dog showed up ( and ofc the owner was a PS about it ). So trying to avoid people is the best heheh

    Is it actually possible to swing from things with the whip like in the Indiana jones films? Like when in Temple of Doom Indy swings to get to the big statue

    • @kirkbrackmann6385
      @kirkbrackmann6385  Год назад +1

      Possible? Yes and no. It’s been done before, I think there are some RUclips videos of people doing it. It was even featured on mythbusters. Recommended however, absolutely not. Both roohide and nylon have amazing strength but aren’t designed to have that much weight or stretch put through them. Especially because the part of the whip that does the wrapping is the “fall” and is only a single strand of leather, as opposed to the plaited (braided) strands that would provide more strength.

    • @kirkbrackmann6385
      @kirkbrackmann6385  8 месяцев назад

      Biggest thing to avoid hitting one’s self practicing the cattlemen’s (in my opinion) is to really emphasize the pause at the top and come forward (not down) slower than it might feel like you should. Like you are tossing a ball forward instead of slamming it down. That way, even if the whip doesn’t crack, your head will be out of the line of fire. Hope that helps! Be safe out there!

  • @anthonylenci645

    About how long does it take to break in a whip to really begin attempting to crack?

    • @kirkbrackmann6385
      @kirkbrackmann6385  11 месяцев назад

      Even a brand new one that is really stiff will still be crackable. But after a few sessions, you’ll feel it start to break in and gain flexibility.
